Having ridden my motorcycle for a few hours, Olivia's was the only destination for my tea and toast.
A super tasty assortment of toast and marmalade, washed down by a lovely cuppa tea.
The staff are great, decor calming, what's not too like?

We can all complain or praise food or service but on my visit to York last June my sister and I had breakfast at Olivia's and I saw such an act of human kindness by the owner of this cafe that I wanted to acknowledge her to her patrons. A street lady had wandered in, it was cold and she had little clothing and no shoes. Her feet were blue and she couldn't talk. The staff fell over backwards to help this lady. They cooked her a big English breakfast and even went to a nearby shop and bought her some shoes. The shoes looked like they were good quality and would not have been cheap. They dried her feet and helped her with her shoes and tried to get some food into her. There was definitely something wrong with her and as she couldn't speak they tried with much difficulty to find out where she was from. We left before the conclusion of all of this but I just wanted to say that my sister and I were very touched by the compassion shown to this lady and the breakfast we had was very nice so it is well worth visiting this cafe to surround yourself by such lovely caring people. From these Australian ladies we give you 5 stars and not just for the food and service.
Gorgeous!!!! Scones were delicious.hubby ordered peanut butter stack wow! First time we've been, won't be the last.cracking pot of tea too x
*Amazing* deli food and delicious salads. The cakes are fabulous, some of the best in York, and the choice of tea and cold drinks is great. The staff are lovely too!
Very relaxing time with Latte and cake. Great service and friendly staff. Wi-fi very good too. Would definitely recommend it.

Amazing.... Don't have a single criticism... Which for me is unusual maybe even a first...
They were attentive with a smile and even though busy we didnt have to grab their attention. Carrot & coriander soup was excellent and filling,with sandwich combo..good value.

What a fabulous find! Nice surroundings, lovely cappuccinos and excellent choice of delicious looking cakes. The brownie is one of the best I've had. Looking forward to visiting again.
Very good indeed. Tucked away at the slightly less touristy end of the city, though steeped in character and history, I will definitely seek it out again.

Great place for coffee & cake or a more substantial meal from the varied menu. Wonderful bread & flat white. I have eaten here on numerous occasions and have never been disappointed with the quality of the food or the service.
I recently had the most delicious lunch from the specials menu - cheese scone with scrambled egg + salad, coleslaw and crisps at the side. It may sound strange but oh my word, I was in heaven eating that!!! The cakes look incredible too. Lovely people who work there - very friendly and accommodating.
Great place for breakfast. Everything is made fresh (may take some time, but that is the spirit of the place). Bread was amazing, rich and crispy. My wife had a delicious granola bowl. Staff was super nice
A great little cafe. The tea and bacon sandwiches were lovely and at a reasonable price. Plenty of seating and not too cramped. Definitely worth a visit if in york

Rustic, indulgent...
Jumbo sausage rolls are ace, my wife enjoyed her toasty and the peanut chocolate stack cake was amazing.
Coffees are good too.
There is a very relaxed and calm atmosphere. Food is to a high standard and drinks are very nice! I reccomend the milkshakes. One of my favourite cafés in York
Focaccia! Tomatoes and basil, olives, rosemary. When I get a chance I travel all the way down from manchester to get them! Amazing. I think prices are good. You pay good price for the brilliant quality you get. M&S is more expensive and nowhere near OLIVIA'S taste and freshness. If you want it cheap, cold and straight from little plastic box, tesco for the mob is just round the corner x
Nice friendly staff, did get our order wrong however probably our fault for not being clear enough. Would recommend the mouthwatering mozzarella chicken and pesto panini.
Lovely staff, amazing selection of cakes, good sized portions and very reasonably priced. This cafe is a winner in my books.
nice place - great bacon roll -very limited for veggie breakfast - the continental breakfast is not great - bread could be toasted. coffee is goid and staff friendly
