A few cold beers with family celebrating a birthday and another Wetherspoons off my list.Decor is nothing special in this Wetherspoons, but the staff were really great.Only downside is there's no parking.Worth a visit though if you're in York and love everything Wetherspoons.

We came here Saturday 27th January my god York is so busy, and this pub was no exception. Food OK beer very good, typical wetherspoon, cheap and cheerful, would recommend. We had a good time in York, its a fabulous place hence why so busy.

Stopped in for some drinks after a long walk around York on a hot afternoon. We ordered four soft drinks on the app whilst sat outside. The drinks took 18 minutes to be brought out, which seemed excessive. The tables outside were majority unclean and had stacks of dirty plates or unclean glasses adorning them. We noticed that even when the occasional staff member did appear outside, they didn’t clean the tables or take anything back inside with them, which was odd. Aside from this, the location of the seating was lovely and secluded from the road, and a great spot to sit in the shade and enjoy a cold drink. The toilets were satisfactory, but could have used a bit of a freshen up.

Good place for breakfast if staying in nearby hotels. Ordering is easy via online or app. Portion sizes are good, service is quick and prices are reasonable too. For the size of the place could do with me self service machines as two are not enough. The menus on the table could also do with a proper clean or just being replaced as they are very icky.

Free to enter . Donations accepted . Not possible to climb the stairs if you have issues walking or climbing. The stairs are narrow ,steep and winding . A great historical building .

Friendly staff, food hot and served quickly, drinks not great but cheap. Cocktails tasted either far too sweet or like vinegar. Unless near the booth area near Woman's toilets it is crammed in.

A top-tier Wetherspoons. Brilliant prices, paired nicely with perfectly prepared food and drink. Short wait times and seamless service. The interior is nice and clean, with plenty of facilities.

Whilst we were staying at the Travelodge Central we used the Wetherspoon for breakfast as the hotel restaurant was closed for refit. I ordered the large breakfast which was disappointing. Two tiny pieces of bacon, a Small spoon of beans, toast which I thought was dry bread, must have just been flashed under the toaster. My mushroom was absent from the plate so spoke to a nice young lady who went a brought me the missing mushroom, yes a single mushroom 😂 At T time it was chucking it down with rain so stayed close to the hotel again. It was so busy had to wait for a table. It was worth the wait, my Tika masala was nice and the wife enjoyed her Hunters chicken. Would have been 3 star without the nice T.

Very good vegan breakfast. Service a tad slow, but it was very busy. It's a nice pub atmosphere and has a lot of tables. Find a table and order at the bar, give the server the table number, so your order will get to your table.

Staff usually very helpful and polite, even to the ruder customers. The renovations don't seem to be too extensive, but it's nice to have had a Reno. The recent menu update has unfortunately made the prices of small plates much higher, but the newly offered pizzas are not a bad substitute. Good deals available on certain days if you're in time.

The Postern Gate is an excellent Wetherspoons pub. It has the usual Wetherspoons menu ordering food from the app is very easy, if you are ordering food pick an inside table the outside tables are not numbered. There was an excellent range of beers at the cheapest prices in York by far. The staff are very friendly and efficient. If you're just having a drink sitting outside by the river is a fantastic view. For a drink and a meal this is the best value place in York. Highly recommended.
