Absolutely the best meal we had in York. We had the chicken and leek pie and it was amazing! Great pastry and flavours. The wine list was also great and the hand pumped ales. Such a secret gem in York!
Fish and chips absolutely outstanding. Fish was so delicate but firm.. chips were nice and chunky also... came back for a Sunday roast dinner. OMG was not disappointed chicken dinner was outstanding. Great cosy traditional pub, we popped in for a few drinks while touring York. Nice atmosphere with great service.
Got hungry and it's a nice surprised to have found this place. Love the library part at the back of the restaurant. It was very private and homely. The beef lasagna was really nice and juicy. Nice selection of beers.
Cosy lovely pub ! Great beer and great service. Interesting mural on wall about the "coffin drop" and info on the mysterious slipper that was found under pub
This place exceeded all my expectations. The food was amazing and servings were very generous. I especially loved the cabbage and carrots that came with the pork roast. The atmosphere is generally quiet, but with a pleasant buzz. I would happily visit again, either for a pint or a meal. Just a good

Great drinks and some live music. Lovely old pub.
