Such a welcome addition to Leeds and I'm now a regular. My favourite is the wholemeal sourdough such a great flavour, followed by the seven-seed sourdough. The focaccia & ciabatta rolls are awesome too. I have a slight addiction to the chickpea & spinach rolls & recommend them to everyone. My husband suffers from ulcerative colitis so bread has been off the menu for him but the sourdough causes him no problems whatsoever, it must be the fermentation process! I hadn't eaten bread for sometime just because I couldn't find a decent tasting loaf but this is real bread, as it should taste.

I shop at the little Bluebird Bakery in Malton, Talbot Yard. I can truly say since discovering this amazing bakery I cannot buy supermarket bread anymore! My fave is the wholemeal sourdough. Absolutely incredible. Always look forward to going in on my weekly shop! Thanks for being amazing!

There wasn't a lot left when we arrived but it was quite late in the day and was ever so busy. I suspect the selection earlier on in the day is amazing. I was recommended by a friend and I am so glad I made the trip over to Leeds today. I got some sourdough wholemeal and 3 chocolate brownies. The brownies are the best we have ever tasted in a long while! The bread smells delicious and I have no idea how we will leave it until the morning for breakfast. Looking forward to my next visit where I will try the chorizo bread. So pleased you guys are in Leeds. We will definitely be regulars! X

Recently walked past and was tempted in for a small sandwich...I ended up leaving with not only a sandwich, but a savoury danish and some bread. Very tempting and more tasty than it looks!

I've been trying out various blue bird breads over the years all of which have been delicious. The only trouble is when you get used to how bread really should be you really can't go back to mass produced factory stuff.

The cinnamon bun was utterly unctuous. The balanced cinnamon sugar felt like a warm hug on a rainy day in York. I took a bite, brought it up Cliffords Tower, onto a train, into the fridge overnight, then into the oven the next day, and it was still fabulous! If you do heat it up, I recommend covering it so the cinnamon doesnt burn, else it develops a fennel like flavor.

If I could give 5 more stars to this bakery, I would. This is a small, takeaway only shop in one of the Shambles lanes. We got their five spice roll and the spinach chickpea roll — and both were absolutely outstanding even cold! The flavors are so absolutely on point and so delicious that we will be going back tomorrow before our train back to London to pick some more up to take home!

Loved the city, York 🇬🇧, loved the market place, loved the street location, loved the shop… and really loved 🥰 the food! Freshly made daily. Quaint decor to match the entire setting. A quite varied delicious selections. We enjoyed a tasty unique creation, a tomato 🍅 and olives 🫒 rolled in a seasoned baked pasty. Delish! We engaged in a conversation w the lovely lady running the shop, perhaps the owner. Describing their bake process made this taste even better! 😁

Cute artisan bakery in a cute part of York that's worth visiting. On the pricey side (it's artisan) but worth it if you want nice bread. Receives 5* for bread. But for pastries etc try Flori bakery (if it's open) or the almond croissant from The Cornish Bakery (both are cheaper options and taste great)

What a lovely little bakery! I was dashing by when I saw one of my most-sought UK baked goods on days display in the window. It turned out to be their last lemon Eccles cake. I found it quite delicious: the outside crunchy with pastry and sugar, the inside packed with sultanas and fresh lemony flavor. If all their goodies are this delicious, wow.

The sourdough bread at this bakery is simply outstanding. Its crust is wonderfully crispy, and the interior has that perfect balance of tanginess and chewiness. As for the savory Danish, it's a delightful treat with a flaky pastry and a savory filling that bursts with pesto flavor. A must-try for bread and pastry lovers!

Have used this bakery since it opened, bread is superb and always something on the specials to temp you with! Tried a new Italian style sourdough today and it was fantastic, very light with a nice chewy crust😋 Focaccia with sea salt and rosemary is also one not to miss!

Good quality bread and pastry. No seating area and they don’t have a machine to slice the sourdough.

Fantastic baked goods!! It’s not a sit down cafe or restaurant but definitely go in and get some bread and pastries. The best chocolate croissant I’ve ever had, such flavorful dough. The rosemary and sea salt focaccia is great. They have great pastries you just need to get them before they sell out.

Savoury Danish deserves all 5 stars. Weighty, delicious had to grab one early as I watched the pile shrink! Would post a pic but I ate it before I thought about it.

I visited York today for the first time in ages, and I must return soon if only to revisit Bluebird Bakery. I popped in this afternoon for something sweet, and came away with a Honey & Spelt Cake. Sadly I can share no evidence of this with you as it disappeared rather quickly! I cannot recommend them enough - delicious!

Bakes and prices are excellent, with a range of sweetness profiles that are suitable for all. Being able to get a drink there as well would perhaps add to the experience but their excellent baking is their cornerstone and a certainly worthy one. I'd definitely recommend the cinnamon roll - easily one to share though as it was similar in size to my head. A delightful little place.

The produce of the Bluebird bakery is outstanding - you can tell it is all made from scratch and of fantastic quality. The brownie and caramel slice are absolutely delicious and I can recommend for anyone! Located in York’s beautiful historic “Shambles”, this lovely authentic bakery fits in perfectly.

Absolutely amazing and delicious bread. I cannot get enough of the 7 seeds - sourdough bread, it is definitely my favourite. The staff is always helpful and pleasant. If Carlsberg would do bread, they would ask Bluebird Bakery for the recipe.

We love coming here for bread!! They do the best (and only place in York that I know) Challah bread! We usually come on a Saturday morning and there’s already a queue before it opens! It’s always a good sign!! Their hot cross buns are delightful as are the sourdough!! A great little independent business!!
