Reviews Lucky Days Low Petergate

The food here is exceptionally fresh and really well prepared. Service is also wonderful. Like many eateries in York, the lower Petergate branch is split over a couple of floors with only a few tables per floor, making is hard to create anything but an intimate atmosphere. The entire restaurant is dog 🐕 friendly which is very good news as many restaurants in York are not.

We decided to try one of the Lucky Days eateries that are scattered around York. Excellent, different, tasty food. I had the goats cheese open sandwich, my partner had the ham & egg and we shared some sweet potato wedges. Speedy service and the staff were all lovely. This branch is quite small but there is some seating upstairs and outside. I just wish these places didn't allow dogs in. (I do love dogs but it's becoming more and more of an issue with them spoiling eating out. Barking, begging, fighting and shaking themselves off on wet weather days when coming into a cafe/restaurant) The dog at the table next to us whimpered constantly and then decided to hack up a cough that was gross, our food hadn't arrived yet thank goodness.

I had the pancakes and they were fabulous, nice and fluffy. I like a strong hot cup of tea it was hot but not a great tea bag. Was a bit pale for me. My partner had scrambled egg n mushrooms on toast and the portion was huge. Set him up for the day. Granary toast as well which is better for him as he is a type 1 diabetic and normal brown or white is not good for him. Service was good apart from we had sat down recieved a menu and 2 seconds later we were asked if we were ready to order. Swiftness is great but a chance to actually look at the menu would help. Overall a great cafe though

We loved this cafe so much we went for breakfast two days in a row. Such a lovely building and we were surprised to be taken up a further set of stairs on our second visit - it's much bigger than it seems from the outside! Food was so so nice. We had paninis on our second visit and they were perfect. Will definitely be going back when we visit York again!

The Scone with orange and lavender creme & jam was heaven. Coffee was also good. Lovely service with gluten-free selections.

Nice little independent cafe. Rustic feel to the place. The sandwich and coffee I had were very nice, with lovely fresh bread and plenty of filling.

Can't say about the other branches but Low Petergate is well worth trying. Small (forget wheelchairs etc) but charming, retains its medieval timber framing and quirky layout. Cracking full english & do try the egg/mushroom 'benedict'- fabulous. Hot chocolate with cream was soooo good and rich..... good service too, definitely would eat there again.

What an A+ superb place. Staff are super friendly and the food is absolutely delicious. Passed by and fancied a bite from this place, which we chose a deli main and three sides to go with a base salad. Everything was super delicious, especially the cold deli sides (coleslaw was amazing in particular.) Some of the best coffee I’ve had in York aswell. Fantastic service. Will definitely be returning again when we are in York.

Popped in today for a quick late lunch, seated straight away and the food was great, was very good value and being able to chose your own salads to go with sandwiches or panini added the quality. Next time I'll be getting cake too!
