The food was exceptionally delicious, and the staff were incredibly welcoming and friendly. The establishment boasts a spacious interior, offering ample room at each table for a comfortable dining experience. I opted for the carvery, and was pleasantly surprised by the generous portions offered at a great value. I would definitely revisit this place.

Wow 😯 seriously massive portions...value for money is astounding....the puddings..OMG!! This was our boxing day meal. £18.99 3 course meal...god we were silly to think we could handle this! One pudding would happily do two people 😄

Lovely friendly place, great staff. We had 3 meals here as we stayed at the travel lodge opposite. Breakfast was lovely but poaches eggs were hard, need to have a better system for hot drinks as cannisters didn't keep water hot. Beautiful carvery Sunday tea time ;) yummy

Came in for some beers while I was on holiday, the place has a nice social atmosphere and was very pleasant. Chris at the bar was friendly and did a good job. They also had some good looking food and deserts, if I get the chance Ill definitely come by again and try them.

Popped in New Years Eve for a meal. Been here a few times before and had the carvery. Always plenty of space with friendly staff and great food. Would recommend.

When I arrived there were plenty of parking slots available, there are also disabled parking bays near the entrance. On leaving, the car park had filled up, still some places left, but this is a large, busy and very popular venue. I hadn't booked on a Sunday as it had been a last minute decision, but I was still found a table. Busy with carvery. Busy with families and kids. Vegans and vegetarians catered for on an extensive menu. Greene King site. Reasonably priced and huuuge portions. I had a Greene King beer, but it was pulled flat with no head and tasted vinegary, but staff were happy and obliging to replace with a different drink. Flat pints do not taste anything like a creamy headed beer. Young uns today are more used to flat lagers etc and seem to think it's ok to pull a flat beer. Nope, they taste horrible! I had been allocated a numbered table on arrival but while I was returning my drink, my table got given to other folk just as my starter was arriving. So there was my starter going cold with a load of strangers gaggled around it while I was at the bar. Waitress seemed confused. Got resolved, but with the table system in place that shouldn't happen. I had the halloumi fries starter which came without the spring onion garnish, as described, shame. I then had the roasted root vegetable pie - sweet potato, butternut squash, beetroot with chips, peas, carrots, gravy. Looked great when it arrived and it was tasty and it was a good plateful. The chips were delicious. The pie was too, but it was heavily weighted on the pastry side - 2/3 thick pastry and a third on content. I would far have preferred less chunky thick pastry and more tasty innards, would have been more balanced. I had ambitiously requested an Eton Mess, but they had none, so plumped for the apple pie, yes, I know, more pastry! Their apple pie was superb, smooth as silk, fabulous mouth feel and extremely tasty. Best part of the meal! Huge portion, as in, it was a quarter piece of pie, massive. There were plenty of busy, efficient, polite staff, a good team operating, considering how busy it was and, yes, I would revisit.

Came for breakfast, was very nice and good value for money. Chris was checking up on us and ensuring our food was okay, was very prompt and on task, so props to him. Overall was a pleasant experience, would come here again if we are in York.

Food was fast, service was great. A young lad with blonde hair behind the bar was extremely friendly and easy to talk too (think he was called Chris?). He had good knowledge of the menu, he even recommended places we should visit in Cyprus. More places need people like this who go above and beyond. Keep up the hard work an absolute credit to yourself and your profession I know it’s hard dealing with the public a smile and a friendly word go along way.

I'm currently sitting here after over a year, and I must say, I'm pleasantly surprised by the exceptional customer service and the fresh buffet breakfast. Every staff member is remarkably polite, approachable, and attentive. Having just returned from Dubai, where hospitality was of the highest standard and we were treated like royalty, it's truly heartwarming to experience a similar level of care and attention right here in our own country. This place is truly going above and beyond to make us feel special and valued.

The food was really well made. I highly recommend the fish and chips. I ordered at the bar and Chris was very polite, and provided a fast service. Lovely staff overall, if you want a decent lunch or dinner I recommend here.

Booked for a large group of 28 and nothing was too much trouble. Carvery was amazing, we were pleasantly surprised, the few mains ordered were also enjoyed by all. Service was quick and easy and staff were very helpful. A particular mention to Jade and Fiona who made sure we had everything we needed. 2 of us worked here years ago and the fact we return frequently says a lot! Thanks everyone

Lovely, friendly service today on my visit to Pear Tree. I ordered the Halloumi Fries, and the Mac N Cheese and it was delicious! Chris, my server, was attentive and kind- he is an asset to your team! Always checked in to see how my food and experience was, and it is fair to say I will be returning soon! Thank you for a great meal!

I had a Sunday Carvery and my husband had a pie off the normal menu. I queued for so long for my meal that my husband had eaten his meal by the time I arrived back at the table. Both our meals were lovely but we probably won't return on a Sunday.

Booked in advance for Mother's Day. Arrived a few minutes before our booking time, and were quickly seated by a welcoming host. Tried to order via the App which constantly failed but were able to order at the bar quickly and easily. Two carvery meals and one mixed grill. Quite a large queue for the carvery but this quickly went down and staff were constantly refilling the veg and gravy supplies. Meals were enjoyed by all. When our plates were taken away, we were not asked if we wanted to order anything else or further drinks - we had planned to order cake to take home. We waited a little while to see if anybody returned but this did not happen, so we approached the bar to try and ask a member of staff if we could place an order. This is where the service let down the venue, we were told very rudely that we needed to go join a very large queue at the bar. We decided at this point to leave and go home. I appreciate that the venue was extremely busy, however we weren't just coming into the venue, we had already had our meals and paid for this, and just wanted to order cake to take home. While we enjoyed our meals very much, we were looking forward to taking cake home, but due to the rudeness of one staff member, and the queue we were told we had to join, we decided at this point to leave as we did not feel we should have to wait in a queue again when we were already paying customers and had not been asked if anything else was required, nor was it possible to place the cake order via the app as it still refused to work. As we were with our daughter who is autistic, leaving was the best option as she could easily have gone into meltdown for not getting cake as we had promised, so this put a slight downer on what would otherwise have been an enjoyable meal.

Was served promptly even though it was Mothers Day and busy. Seen to a clean table. Served promptly at the bar. No rush to get food had a chat and then the queue was dealt with at the carvery with super efficiency. The carvery food was great and plentiful. The clean up after was prompt and polite. All in all a great experience.
