Ye Olde Starre Inne - York - Photo album

Clearly an institution with history and rustic charm that doesn't need explanation. Tucked behind a few buildings, you walk through a bit of an alley into the courtyard and then into the warm, cozy pub. Multiple rooms to suite your needs whether by yourself or in a group. Solid array of draft and ca
A centuries old pub right in the heart of York. Excellent quality food and a decent lineup of beers and real ales. You can feel the history of the place as soon as you walk in. A nice atmosphere and reasonable prices for food though the drinks are a bit pricey. Definitely worth a visit.
Brilliant experience and absolutely would go again if I'm ever in York. Not only is the rusticity of the food and the pub itself comforting for any time of day, the food itself is spot on. The classic steak and ale pie was perfect, and is one of the best, if not, the best steak and ale pie I've had.
Popped in here Sunday evening, found a lovely little spot. Great food, delivered quickly, piping hot and exactly as ordered. Pricing was really reasonable for York, and definitely worth a visit if you don’t want to pay normal York prices, this is definitely underrated and overlooked I think. Really
Lovely medieval old pub, slanted roof's, crooked doorways, old wooden floors, windows slanted, arched entrance way into a lovely court yard. We had Christmas day here with the family, my wife booked the table with the help of John (manager) , he looked after every single detail for our time here, a
Loved it. Just in the mood for a rustic pie, and there were obviously loads of choices in York but I'm certain we made the right choice. Steak and Ale pie with chips was delicious. Generous portion and reasonably priced, and didn'thave to wait long at all for it to be served. Good selection of drink
Claims to be from 1644, during the English Civil War and thus the oldest pub in York. ( When the Woke Puritans killed you for being happy.) Been a few times but gets crammed with tourists. A good selection of real ales. Mainly Greene King but good guest ales. Boothroyd had the house bitter. Madge a
This was a lovely pub with plenty of outdoor and indoor seating. Also it's extremely DOG friendly! I highly recommend the classic steak and ale pie along with a proper lager. Also the mac and cheese was UNBELIEVABLE. Pro-tip: Try to visit York during the week and not the weekend in the autumn. The
We came here on a Tuesday evening - the pub was out of a lot of dishes but that didn’t affect our order. The Greene King pub boasts a lot of craft ales and lagers and a medium house wine 🍷 was a steal at £5.40. I’d recommend the burger 🍔
Excellent pub, very good choice of both food and drinks, good atmosphere, there on Monday evening and busy
Come here all the time, one of my favourite places. Staff are great, everyone is friendly, has great beer and excellent food, reasonably priced in historic surroundings. Inside or out, in the many beer gardens, it is extremely comfortable.
Great place for a quick pitstop for a snack in the oldest inn in York. Great atmosphere with plenty of character, friendly staff and the food was great, recommended!
We had baked camembert and garlic bread, perrrrfect. Food came very quickly and was exactly what we needed! Love the vibe, music is not too loud like many pubs, easily had conversations even right next to the speakers. Well priced drinks. Our food, mulled wine and a pint was £21
A friend and I were on a trip to York, this place sounded good as it was an old Ale house. We went for the classic British Pie & mash, the service was great, fast and professional. The food was served in good time, and they were busy too. Food was very good, a decent pie, I liked the grilled cabbage
Grand Old Yorkshire Pub, great staff and atmosphere, food looked good, but I didn't eat there.
Excellent visit during the Christmas Markets, team were great as was the food.
Visiting York for the first time as a family we weren't sure where to choose for food and drink in advance, but we are very glad we ate here. Really pleasant service that was not overbearing at all, very good quality pub grub and a super choice of real ales too. I'd say we have about 1878 reasons to
Really enjoyed our visit to the Ye Olde Starre Inne, friendly staff, really nice food and just a lovely old Inne , many thanks
