Best eggs benedict of my life!!! Oh my goodness, we loved this little spot in Old Town York! It is SUPER cute, think farmhouse style. Their menu has delicious items, including fresh juices, etc. They offer breakfast, lunch, and dinner which is pretty fab. Their cocktails looked amazing but we were there for breakfast so didn't indulge in those.
I got their eggs benedict with a side of potatoes and oh my goodness, it was the dreamiest. I wanted to go back and get it again the next day but unfortunately other duties called.
The service was so friendly and food is fresh. We would absolutely go back again on a future visit! Dying to try one of their fresh cocktails. :)
The Mango spice Prosecco was great with just a touch of spice.
The sweet potato and red pepper veggie burger was breaded and had I known this, I would have ordered something else.
The veg pot of mixed roasted veggies were the right portion and pretty good.
The server wasn't too engaging but we aren't sure if it's the culture or we caught him on an off day?
Decor was great!
We are visiting from America and decided to try it. Service was great. Food was delightful and atmosphere was enjoyable. They have a menu selection too.
Just come here. This is the kind of place where you dont know what you want but you just want good food. Food is amazing. Staff was fantastic. and prices are affordable!
First time here and very impressed. Good weekday meal offer with two courses for set price. Food tasted great and service was quick. Staff were friendly and attentive. Would recommend
Really great quality food and very cosy place to go eat. Can imagine it's lovely at night when they shove on a load of fairy lights.
They also are the first people to introduce me to yet another great Swedish cider in Herrljunga Cider. Definitely worth it if you're already partial to a Kopparberg or Rekorderlig.
I have never struggled to get seated here. Food is good and can suit many appetites. I would recommend the camembert to start as a 2 person sharer.
Hearty food offered - beef and ale pie, fish and chips, burgers. Perfect visit for a good feed after an afternoon down Coney Street spending your dollar.
Quick and friendly service.
My tip would be to not get seated by the door, as much as the staff try it does carry a draught through and if there is an influx of people the door is inevitably left open and the cold soon creeps in.
Cozy place with great service and great food. Prices are average for the area. They pay special attention to the little details. If you're in a hurry, you can also pay your bill (and leave tip) directly via their website.

Pleasantly surprised! (if you can't be bothered reading it all please read the end bit about service)
Went for our Meerkat Meals 2 for 1 this evening, had the pork salad, fish and chips, bubble and squeak cakes, sweet potato croquettes, side veg and some of the sausages in the 'while you wait' section of the menu. All that, with very generous portion sizes and only the mains actually on 2 for 1 (Meerkat Meals only covers starters and mains) AND 2 medium glasses of red for £35 is incredible value. I didn't expect amazing kind of flavour for that price but actually, all was jolly tasty. I would suggest some lime juice and chilli in the pork salad dressing to liven it up a bit as it's a bit sweet but was perfect for my partner.
The best bit however was the service. It's a sad state of affairs dining in the UK at present where I have grown not to expect a high standard of service outside of a table cloth and silverware setting. However, every member of staff at Joe's gave a breath of fresh air with their upbeat, caring and attentive approach. Just enough to feel checked in on, with a little bit extra that didn't encroach on our dining experience. Very good job and thank you to the team, we'll no doubt be coming back.
Good food but nothing amazing as good as many other similar places, nothing to make it stand out . Thought our waitress was good but nothing amazing
Friendly service, good food for family meal. In a nice spot in York city centre.
Great atmosphere with friendly and attentive service. Food was very delicious. Would come back again!
Had a very tasty fish finger sandwich with chunky chips to boot. Food fantastic and some tasty double Gin combinations to choose from as well. Highly recommended.
Very nice restaurant, good food, but we went for Sunday roast (outside the restaurant theres a sign saying "best sunday roast in york" ) because we wanted to have roast beef but they do only chicken, despite that we really enjoyed our meal.
Had a nice meal with my family here.
Food was nice and came quickly.
Kids allowed 👍
Wee selection of toys/ activities was welcomed.
On a Saturday evening when everywhere else was full of stag dos and hen nights, a nice meal in a calm pub/ restaurant was needed and Joe's provided.
-1 As the prices are expensive and we had to remind staff of our presence a few times.
Been twice, once with friends and once with family. Didn't feel awkward either time, everyone was lovely, the food was good and also varied so everyone could get something they liked. The portion sizes were good, except the warm desserts which looked a little small but still tasted delicious. The coffee to finish was nice too.
Went here for some late night food. Expect to be waited on with your designated server and enjoy the rustic feel of the building. Great choice on the menu, from burgers to unique dishes. There's equally a great range of drinks, both alcoholic and non alcoholic. A little on the pricey side here, but well worth what you pay. My only downside is that the servers didn't seem very friendly or engaging with us, but we did go very late at night which kay explain that. Overall a great experience and will be going again.
The food is superb. Obviously fresh and extremely well made. Service is very professional and we were made to feel welcome. Great overall all experience with reasonable prices for excellent quality. Would recommend.
Really lovely place, pretty quiet in the daytime so it's a great way to get away from all the hubbub of the busy city centre and find a pocket of quiet space.
There's a lovely outdoor area at the back which is lovely in good weather, but not so great in blazing hot sunshine as it offers no shade.
Indoors there are USB ports to charge phones etc. so that is a big bonus.
The staff are very friendly and the set menus are great value. I've been here a few times and each time has been a great visit.
Also you can pay via an app which can can be great if you're in a hurry. Will definitely visit again.
