We had such a lovely time at this little gem of a pub we located through Brit Stop. Turns out we were there the night they introduced Indian food night but it was no less a success than good pub food. (check out Mike’s mole, it’s amazing!)The place was bustling and the tables were reserved or full which left us to take up a place near a lovely little wood stove in the side room. As luck would have it and much to our delight, we found ourselves in the company of none other than Mike, the regular chef, who’d been banished from his kitchen by ‘the curry ladies’. He graciously shared his ‘quiet corner’ with us where we ate, drank and enjoyed wonderful company and conversation. Dan, Mike, Laurean and the ‘curry ladies’ were the most gracious hosts and made us feel welcome and at home. We could have easily taken up residence in their parking lot, stayed til the weather improved, we could eat our way through the menu and just generally enjoyed some of the nicest people we’ve met on our travels- and that’s saying something! Cheers to the good people of The Deramore Arms!

Of the five pubs in York, where we had lunch or dinner during a four-day stay, the Deramore Arms stands out: the atmosphere is welcoming, traditional and comfortable; the service is friendly; the food is exceptional. Our party chose a variety of dishes ranging from pub grub classics to pasta with a Mexican sauce. There is someone in the kitchen who really knows how to cook!

Food was amazing, drinks are reasonably priced and staff are all super friendly. Had the French onion soup to start followed by roast beef dinner and was cooked to perfection 👌🏽

Just reopened. We are new locals so popped in for a drink. Menu looks good but we didn't have time to eat. Pizzas Mon and Tues, Sunday lunches anf good pub grub at other times. Brucie bonus was that we could take the dog inside, it is super dog friendly and there was even a jar of treats on the bar for them. New owner was very friendly and welcoming. We will be back.

First time here - visiting from Cheshire and staying with friends nearby. New manager and staff really welcoming and friendly. New menu all cooked from scratch, not bought in or frozen. I had the southern fried chicken burger followed by the apple and raspberry crumble with custard - highly recommended. Love the atmosphere and the relaxed layout with no TVs or blaring music.

Dog and kid friendly local in a pretty part of York, close to the University campus. Love the staff and the food, especially the sunday roast! Coming back to try the weekday menu soon.
