I recently dined at The Punch Bowl restaurant in York Wetherspoon, and my experience was quite satisfactory. The food, while not exceptional, met my expectations. The menu offered a variety of options, and the dishes I tried were decent, providing a satisfactory dining experience without standing out. The cleanliness of the establishment was noteworthy, contributing to a pleasant atmosphere. One of the highlights of my visit was the excellent service. The staff was attentive, friendly, and efficient, enhancing the overall dining experience. Whether it was taking orders, refilling drinks, or addressing inquiries, the service staff displayed professionalism throughout. The ambiance was comfortable, and the restaurant had a welcoming feel. While it may not be the ideal spot for a gourmet dining experience, The Punch Bowl serves its purpose as a reliable and convenient option. For those looking for a casual meal in a clean environment with good service, this Wetherspoon establishment in York is a suitable choice. Overall, my visit was positive, and I would consider returning for a straightforward and hassle-free dining experience.

Had breakfast here while we were staying in York... Saturday morning was absolute chaos! Crammed in like sardines and only 1 coffee machine, asked for the table to be wiped a couple of times but it was never done. Called in early Sunday morning and it was like a different place! Clean, tidy, staff friendly and breakfast yummy! It's a Spoons and we all know how busy they get!

This was a one off meeting on saturday of veteran Green Howards comrades ( some of whom had'nt seen each other for many years ) who served together. The place was bouncing and everyone was having a great time and even gave the pub an impromptue sing along!! The staff were working there socks of but when one of our number took ill they made sure he was ok and kept coming to check on him untill we got him away home for which I would like to thank them very much. Great venue and great staff.

Really tasty food, with a great burger, lovely onion rings and tasty chips. The service was great, and pretty fast considering how busy it was. And there was a great thronging atmosphere with people on the odd Christmas meal out and a busy bustling vibe. Just docked a point as the chips were very nearly cold when the food arrived. Still tasty, but worth noting.

This was our first stop on a recent stay in York, we were looking for somewhere cheap and cheerful and were left satisfied by our visit. I ordered the Vegan Katsu Curry and my partner ordered the Quorn Nugget Wrap. Everything arrived promptly and was hot, service was friendly and the prices were perfect for what we were after. There were a few health and safety concerns raised during our meal including a hair in the wrap and some plastic in my curry but the staff were very apologetic and a free beverage was provided as compensation. Besides a bit more care and attention in the kitchen, I can't really knock the place for what we paid. I'd be happy to return.

Good food, recommend the pasta Alfredo. Some of the problems include: there was a 16 minute wait for food (not so bad) but it quickly turned to 1 hour. There was A lipstick mark on the rim of the glass. And the app didn't work when we (attempted) to order pudding. Good visit, I'm sure these issues were because it was busy.

Lovely traditional pub in York (with a spooky history of course!) Lots of nooks and crannies; service was quick and the food was great. Really nice cosy environment and place to grab some good pub grub and a drink if you’re in York. We came back the following evening to meet for the ghost walk which they advertise as meeting outside the venue.

I went to order breakfast at the bar as I was struggling to get online to use the app. I realised as I went to place the order I’d forgotten my table number so I asked the barmaid if she knew what number it was. Her response was short and demeaning to the point I felt like an utter inconvenience as a customer and so I walked away to get it. I returned to the bar to be served by Harry who was lovely and patient, and another barmaid, Rachael, came to speak to me to check I was OK and apologise for how I was spoken to. I hope the management see this as they both deserve a massive thank you!!

Always pop in a Spoons, decent quick bite to eat before hitting the awesome pubs & bars in York. Only an hour away on the train from Hull. Always a great place to visit!

This was a fabulous restaurant to eat and drink at, having designs that invoked the historical culture of York! The chandeliers on the ceiling make for beautiful lighting too and Easter decorations have been put up, channelling the seasonal spirit. Me and my friend sat a very clean table, where we were served our food and drink promptly. The pulled chicken wrap was delicious as were the peas, having a great level of warmth! The lady who took my order was really nice, asking if I wanted ice with my J20, which was a gorgeous drink.
