We hadn't booked and the restaurant was more than happy to find us a table.
The staff were polite, food came out in good time and tasted great.
Definitely worth a visit if you like a good ole fashioned indian restaurant.
The chhole puri chaat was different from what I was expecting. Very tasty nonetheless. Would be back to try their vegetarian dishes.
Chef's special Akhini curry served with saffron rice had a generous portion. Though the meat wasn't as tender as one might expect, overall it was yummy.
Authentic music, attentive servers. One star gone for food because the lamb rogan josh sauce wasn't how it usually tastes and I've been to loads of Indian restaurants (admittedly in Ireland and England). The lamb was cooked beautifully though. The chicken ceylon and special Malaya chicken were very
Had a cracking experience with the dad. Great service, wonderful atmosphere and a gorgeous special Malaysia chicken with pilau. Overall, the curry slaps.
A short walk from our hotel. We both love Indian food and I make my own at home so off we went.
Now - I appreciate that my fav Indian meal will be different in every restaurant. So have an open mind and expect variation.
Pleasant decor, tables not too tight together.
Poppadom to start - the dips ha
Our first visit here last night with my husband and what a delight. We only live down the road but haven't been before as we have a favourite curry house elsewhere that we have visited for 15 years or more, but we've been let down there recently and decided to try somewhere new.
The staff here were
I am a well traveled person who loves Indian food. I have had many Indian meals in different restaurants all over the UK and abroad. The one place I look forward to eating at is, the Garden Of India. If you want good tasting food then the Garden of India is for you….
Absolutely fantastic , despite the fact it was super busy , the staff worked super hard to please everyone and to deliver food and drinks in a timely manner. It was our 1st time here , but definitely not the last . The food was amazing, hot and full of flavour , chicken to die for . Amazing value fo
Great menu, food was super tasty the Pilau Veg rice is amazing 💪 friendly staff and good atmosphere.
Amazing curry, lovely and talkative staff, and this beautifully quaint atmosphere that make me hate I don't live nearby. I feel like I'm in a high end expense restaurant but it's a well priced quaint little restaurant. Will definitely return next I'm in York.
I’ve eating here so many times and I never get bored, the food is delicious and I always get the flavour I’m expecting 😍Plus the staff is very nice with us all the time.
I've been going to the Garden of India for over 15 years but never posted a review before. Chatting to the owner tonight made me realise how hard things are for small businesses (he works so hard as do his team) so - just to say - try it. It's ace. If you live in York or at an event at the Barbican
I went along based on Google reviews. Wasn't busy, probably 3 tables. Food was great, tasty and served promptly. Issue was the waiter (I think manager) who was rushing around and seemed very impatient. The scrawl he wrote on the bill says it all. Shame as the other staff seemed fine.
I love curry. It was tasty. Very good very nice 10/10 curry slaps me good!
Wide selection of Indian dishes (meat and vegetarian) and side dishes. Food was excellent, staff was friendly and service was fast. Very pleasant dining experience.
Really good food. Friendly and attentive staff.
A hidden gem.
Food was good, quick service but seemed a little rushed overall
Takeaway, just enjoyed a lovely Chicken Tikka Masala, Mushroom Pilau, fresh Roti and poppadom and pickles.... Beautiful creamy Masala and the roti is AMAZING, warm, soft freshly made 😋 and all for less than 20 quid
I used to frequent this Indian restaurant in the late 90's. It was fabulous then and glad to see that it is still going strong. Well Done, staff were always great. Swift & Sure
