A great place for cake or lunch if you are in the area.
We shared the cauliflower soup with a cheese scone with cream cheese and chutney topping (usually come with ham). Top notch cheese scone. Fluffy on the inside and a good crunch on the outside.
A good selection of loose leaf teas - I had the gunpowder green which was lovely.
We didn't have any room for cake, but based on the options on the display counter and how good the scone was, it all looked very tasty.
They have seating at the back on the ground floor, as well as a few tables upstairs.
They have plenty of vegetarian options. They also offer a gluten-free / vegan afternoon tea on their menu (pre booking essential).
The gift shop across the road, Birdies Perch, is well worth popping into if you have time.

Such friendly attentive service, the cake display was amazing as soon as you walk in the door. Lots of seating indoors and a couple of tables outside.
They do breakfast, sandwiches, baked potatoes, soup, various afternoon/cream teas and children's options. Plus lots of choice in teas, coffees and hot chocolates.
I went for a large hot chocolate with flake which was creamy, chocolatey and very nice. Plus coffee and walnut cake which was the best I ever had. Perfect combination of coffee buttercream and walnut sponge with neither overpowering, very moreish.
Would recommend if you want really nice homemade food and amazing cakes at a good price. Loved the whole vintage theme, with the ladies serving also dressed up.
I used to be a regular here until my working hours changed. Whenever I get the opportunity I always pop in.

Out with our sewing crew and the wonderful people at Bugqeeds fabric recommended this lovely vintage teashop. Catering for most needs at short notice they accommodated 9 hungry sewers. The food is all homemade, a food selection of tea , coffee and soft drinks which perfectly accompanied a delicious selection of treats - amazing cakes. Served by wonderfully friendly and knowledgeable staff. Thankyou for providing us all with a lovely lunch. Bev.
We love it here. We've never eaten in but we definitely need too. We've had their cheese and fruit scones, lots of their cakes and I recently got a sandwich to takeaway. It was so fresh and delicious.
The scones are so big I have to slice it in three!!! :-)
Nikki helped me out with a really short-term small birthday surprise. The handmade cakes and cupcakes look and taste delicious. The atmosphere in the Café is also lovely. Thanks you very much!

If you have never been make the effort to pop along to this tearoom. You will not be disappointed. One of Yorks best kept secrets. The array of cakes is amazing and the afternoon tea is second to none. Be prepared you will be taking some home. D'licious by name and delicious in taste.
Awesome tea room with beautiful cakes, great retro 1940s themed and the staff are amazing. Took my mum for her birthday surprise and the staff could not do enough for all of us. The cakes are so nice we all had a doggie bag to take home and it's just a great little place. I would recommend anyone to go but at the same time don't want it to change. Visited as a group of 10 yesterday. Probably the best afternoon tea we have ever had as a group. Dietary requirements were taken care of and the service was excellent, with friendly staff. Worth a walk out of the city centre to visit this gem 💎

This cafe is a little gem!
I went for afternoon tea as part of a hen party. As a vegan I’m always a little worried as to if places can cater for me, but they were fantastically accommodating, and the sandwich choices, scones and cakes were all really nice. They also had no problem catering for people in the group who were gluten intolerant.
The staff were lovely and friendly, and the cafe was pretty.
I will definitely be going back at some point.
We went here for a hen do celebration afternoon tea and it was everything I hoped it would be. The food was amazing - and 2 guests who had gluten free afternoon tea were especially positive about it! We took our own Prosecco and just generally had a lovely time. I will definitely be going back to sample more cake! The ladies working there were so friendly and it just feels good to know we're supporting an independent business. Highly recommended!
It is always such a delight visiting this tea room. The atmosphere is lovely and staff are always so welcoming.

There is a selection of seating both downstairs and upstairs. Toilets are upstairs. Parking isn't great around the cafe with it being very restricted, but it is only a 15 minute walk from the City Centre of York. Highly recommended and will be visiting again. Take away option is also available.
Highly recommend! Had a surprise baby shower here for my friend today, afternoon tea. What an amazing place! Food was so tasty, huge portions, staff really friendly, helpful and went to extra mile to make today absolutely perfect. Thank you again!!
Lovely tea shop with attentive service that was just a little understaffed on the day of our visit. All homemade delicious cakes! We had the afternoon tea and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. My son was very pleased with the variety on offer in his vegan afternoon tea. I highly recommend the white chocolate + raspberry/blueberry scones, which were enormous and delicious!

Rang ahead and arranged afternoon tea for two. Told them about my nut allergy and they changed my cakes accordingly and were extremly accommodating. We arrived on time to a fabulous welcome and they even changed our seating to make it easier due to my disability. Our tea order was taken straight away and our food, which i pre booked, arrived within l0 minutes of us sitting down. It was truly amazing. The sandwiches were definitely not lacking with good quality meat, plus their was plenty of it. Salad and crisps on the side. You get to choose your own fillings too, which most places dont give you a choice.
You ger two scones, one fruit and one plain with jam and cream and then to finish off four cakes! All for £14.95. The staff are great, just the right amount of attention. The place is clean and tidy. I would advise you to book though as when we got there it was heaving! Then it went quiet for about 10 minutes then it started to fill up again, so a very popular spot. We will definatly be back.
