Had a lovely weekend in York and came across The Judge’s Lodging, menu looked very nice so we made a reservation. Could not have been better received and sat at a table with beautiful big chairs. Our waitress was extremely attentive and took our order for food and wine which was then served in timely fashion. Our meal was amazing, well presented and very tasty shame we could only manage two courses. The atmosphere was great and the buildings historical feel added to the experience. Would recommend to anyone looking for a perfect evening out.

Fantastic stay for my birthday with special friends. Staff were very friendly and helpful, nothing was a problem for them. Thank you for the lovely room upgrade for my special birthday and for arranging the flowers for my daughter as a gift for me. Lovely hearty breakfast..set us up for the day. Highly recommend staying and would love to return again.

Great place. The room was cozy but roomy. Nice bathroom. The breakfast was great and you got to order whatever you wanted. Nice surprise when I was presented with a French Press for my morning coffee. Wow. Nice beer choices from their own brewery. So close to everything. You can walk everywhere. Stay here. We loved it.

Had a fabulous meal. Steak and ale pie was the best ever. The chicken was delicious. The gin and tonic went down so easily. We were pleasantly surprised. Will definitely come back.

Everyone loves it in here. It's quite small - so on a very busy night, you notice it. But it's still a great place.

A terrific little hotel in the centre of York. My partner and I stayed here for 2 nights in early April and we were thoroughly impressed. Our booking was unexpectedly upgraded to a “character room” on the second floor, facing the street directly above the entrance. The bed was large and comfy, and the beautifully designed bathroom featured an enormous bathtub as well as separate shower. The room overall was spacious, cosy, and spotlessly clean. And a complimentary G&T was a great way to be welcomed! Breakfasts (included) were great and all freshly cooked - you can choose from full Englishes, eggs Benedict etc as well as a continental selection. Throughout our stay, we were really impressed by how attentive and thorough the staff were, and when we asked about restaurants in town we got some fantastic recommendations from the team. We highly recommend this B&B right in the middle of old York. Thank you for a great stay!

The staff were friendly and accommodating, the location was great, the food was well presented and delicious, and the hotel room was spacious and comfortable with coffee, tea, hot chocolate and fresh milk available. Our room had a great view of York Minster.

Only sat outside for a drink.really nice with some heaters at front if a bit chilly. Like most places in york you order from your table. Great place to sit back and watch the madness of the bank bar across the road

I want to visit York again just to stay here. Overwhelmingly one of the nicest hotels my wife and I have ever stayed in and the service was just top notch. I wouldn't stay in York without Judge's providing the bed. Best of the best! Food was pretty amazing as well

Went for lunch for my wife's birthday while staying in York. Food was Very Nice. We shared the Asian Platter. The Pouisson could have done with being portioned really. It was a bit fiddly and difficult to eat really. Having said that it was beautifully cooked. Lovely meal and good value for money.

We stayed here so that we could enjoy the Christmas markets. The location was great and right in the middle of everything, however, not sure I would recommend this hotel if you have a car. The walkway that cuts to the hotel from the car park is closed after dark and we had to walk around the park, which was about half a mile with luggage in tow since there is no way to drop off luggage. The hotel seemed very understaffed - servers were working the front desk, there was no one to help with luggage, and we had to bring our luggage through a very crowded pub to get to our room. I would not recommend a terrace room when the weather is nice. Even with it being cold out we could hear a ton of people outside of the pub as the terrace rooms are directly across and there are tables basically right outside your room for people to sit at. There is also a roof top bar above these rooms which was closed in the winter, but would likely be loud in the summer. The restaurant was alright, we did festive dining and afternoon tea. Not really much choice for teas, this was obviously just a thing they were doing for the holiday. Would recommend Betty’s instead. I appreciated the breakfast being close by, which allowed us to bring toast and yoghurt back to our room. They also offer you milk for your tea and put it in a mini refrigerator. There is also free water that is replenished during your stay. Overall I’d recommend this hotel based on location, but would recommend a different room than terrace if you aren’t going in the winter.

Conveniently located in the city centre with lovely, friendly and attentive staff! We stayed for one night and enjoyed a delicious full breakfast which really saved this from being a slightly negative review. - Honestly, our breakfast was fantastic and everything you want from a full cooked offering to get the day started. The staff we dealt with were professional, friendly and extremely attentive. The only gripe we had was with the overall cleanliness of our room. There was an inexcusable amount of cobwebs, a few hairs on the bed and depressingly a lot of mould in the en-suite…. all things that some better housekeeping would be able to get under control! Anyway, the staff, location and breakfast more than made up for this, and when I brought these matters to the attention of our lovely receptionist at the end of our visit, she took my constructive criticism onboard with empathy! Bravo, and well done - it’s so refreshing when businesses actually listen to their customers in such a positive manner and the lady on reception handled it so well👏🏻

Booked a table online for lunch in the cellar. The location and ambience are lovely and the food and service were great. I had a slight disappointment that there were no 'light bites' on the menu given it was lunchtime - we all had to have quite a full meal, but it was really great nevertheless and we will return.

The Judge's Lodging was a really great place to stay, highly recommended! The room we stayed in was separate from the main building which was very handy for access at all hours. The room was very comfortable and a good size, with a sofa and a coffee machine (with a good range of flavour capsules to choose from) alongside the usual choices of tea bags. The bathroom was huge with a very spacious shower - all set up so it could also be used as a wet room for those with mobility issues. The staff were very helpful and friendly, and nothing was too much trouble for them to help with. We didn't try the main restaurant but the Cellar Bar was great for drinks and food, and reasonably priced.

Food and drinks were very good and the atmosphere was ideal for a meal with friends. The only thing mildly negative of note was that half of our party felt the fish main course (2nd of 3 courses) was a bit small, so order a side even if the staff don't advise that.

We stayed in room 11 Clinton - right at the end, felt lovely and private and it's a massive room, with a seating area and big bathroom with a shower and separate jacuzzi bath. Lovely and clean, queen size bed was lovely and fab amenities like a fan, iron etc and nice fluffy towels. The white company soaps are a lovely touch. Shower base is a bit wobbly in the middle for some reason! Reception staff lovely. Amazing location literally bang in the centre close to everything - can't find a better location honestly. Lovely bar and restaurant for drinks. Breakfast is nice, service for breakfast was OK, but you kind of feel a bit forgotten about - no one checks in if you need anything once you have your food ; no coffee or juice refills etc. You have to go find someone. All in all, still a fab stay would come again
