Decent sausage. Nice chips. Good staff and service. Slightly oily - would probably taste better as takeout because the paper will absorb the oil. Also, thought I walked into bingo night at a hospice when I first walked in. Check out the interior in the photos.

Great service provided with welcoming and warm customer service. We had breakfast there and it was delicious. We got the full English breakfast, which comes with a free cup of delicious coffee. Definitely recommend!
Hands down the best cod and chips I've have from any sit in restaurant! Would 100% recommend and the prices are fair. Will definitely be coming here again!

Love Wackers! Been a fan since going to the Scarborough branch before we had one in York. Lovely fish and chips, great service, friendly staff. Actually like the restaurant as it's spacious and I don't feel on edge if I take my 5 and 3 year old as it's big, so your not bumping into other diners.

Very good service and extremely tasty food. Also very well priced, especially for York. I would certainly visit again. Also convenient for a well priced meal before a theatre visit. We didn't book in advance but had no trouble getting a seat.
Recommended by our tour guide when visiting York on a coach trip, Wackers lived up to expectation. The staff were friendly and efficient and the food was served freshly cooked. Great quality fish & chips at a value for money price.
I do e joy an occasional trip to Wackers the prices are good the food is nice.
They serve "proper" chips that take me right back to my nans dinner table as a kid.

Not been for years... But it still a nice place to chill out and enjoyed some fish & chips which was nice but the chicken nuggets looked a little processed tho. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Always feels the toilet area is like a doctors surgery🙃 will definitely return😊
Came in here on the off chance, the restaurant was çlean and well presented , staff were very friendly and helpful. The cod was delicious, nicely cooked as were the chips. Very accommodating with meals differences. Would highly recommend.

We came across Wackers on a family visit to York before the end of the school holidays. A warm welcome from the lady at the till who advised us to choose a seat and then come up to the till to order when we were ready. My husband chose the medium haddock meal deal and was able to swap his mushy pea
