Amazing bar, great beer, great bars snacks. The viking theme is perfect for York. The decor is phenomenal, some serious work has gone into this place. You can even drink mead from a drinking horn. I'll definitely be back.

Refreshing change - different without being quirky, top place, top barman, top beer.

I had a Thor platter (hubby had Odin's platter) which was every bit as tasty as Odin's mead (which I stole from hubby ). The ambience was cool, with amazing tunes to keep you entertained and decoration to suit any budding Viking. The barman was very informative, helpful and patient - especially when we were trying to choose what to have, and they accommodated my autistic son's need to have just bread and ham. What a great place to rest weary feet. We had a brilliant time.

Fancied a coffee and thought we’d try a bar not linked to a chain. As we was passing I thought this looked interesting so we decided to call in. Great choice. First rate coffee with the usual tiny biscuit you get served with quality coffee. They had a good selection of local beers and more unusual beer names were available. Decor interesting but fitted well with the name of the bar. Staff lovely. Will now be my regular coffee shop when in town.

It is a unique place in York and North England. It does bring a very realistic rustic atmosphere and presence of Vikings. Valhalla has a great selection of drinks you would find in other pubs/ bar but also unique selection of Viking drinks. The place is quite small and located across 3 floors. Food was good as quick snacks but nowhere near the restaurant. Also bear in mind the kitchen takes orders up to 8pm after that no food available. Overall a great and very unique place.

Loved this place. The decor, atmosphere, music and general patrons and staff are all great. I didn't have any food but there's a decent little small selection. Theres live music upstairs, a great hall style long table function room available to book and a decent menu with a selection of mead (£7 as of writing for a small glass) but it's strong and tastes decent so when in Rome and all that. I'll always visit when I return to York.

The only thing that slightly let this place down for me was how dark it was in there. I understand that its part of the ambience and to be more authentic viking, but I was enjoying some lunch and a large party of people were stood next to the window block the light. Food is amazing. Staff are lovely. Prices are reasonable and dog friendly too.

Came across this unique pub while strolling through beautiful York. It had loads of character and atmosphere and was so authentically rustic. Lots of wooden decor, benches and stools and a great selection of beer that my husband seemed to really enjoy🤣 it’s also a dog friendly pub.

Staff are lovely and very knowledgeable about the range of different drinks they have, found a couple of new favourite rums there! Very chilled out atmosphere and very accepting of out of towners. Had a great time there.

First time here tonight courtesy of York restaurant week. My partner and I had the sharing platter that was priced at £32 for £25. A lovely evening, this place has a great vibe, friendly staff and tasty food. The place is dark with limited lighting, which may not be to everyone's liking. I was a bit wary not being too good on my feet. There are stairs to contend with if there isn't room in the street level bar area. Looking forward to visiting in daylight hours. Fab looking merch too.

We've been before and like the place. Staff are friendly and the drinks are good. We had lunch, which was fab. A good stop off place before more sightseeing in York. We had the Odin's platter ... no fries on the menu as shown in choices below...honestly, you don't need them as the platter is generous and very filling

An amazing place to meet, eat and drink. The decor is stunning. Make sure you go upstairs to the All Father's hall.

Loved this pub, it is such a vibe, the decor and music was so cool! Definitely unique and such a great atmosphere, I didn't feel like I was intruding in a local pub. Bar staff friendly and the drinks were really nice, I had the mortimer cider which I need to have again!
