We have eaten at the Fossgate location several times before and always loved it so booked again for my wife’s birthday. So glad we did, the service and food was excellent from start to finish and I want to pay special thanks to Flavia who is a shining example of great customer service. I had the Chorizo in balsamic vinegar which is my favourite and the gambas (prawns) in tempura batter, my wife the smoked haddock and the belly pork and then we shared the beef with chili all of them delicious. I love that the kitchen is open so you can see the chefs cooking they all looked so professional. A great choice of desserts, so much so that we opted for the sharing platter which gave a little taste of everything a great decision. Can’t recommend this place enough but make sure you book. We will be back and I can’t wait - Thank you
Lovely service and the atmosphere was great too. The best seafood paella I have ever eaten! Could not fault the food one bit! Will definitely be returning and would recommend to anyone!
Not eaten here for a while but enjoyed a fantastic meal washed down with a lovely bottle of wine sat in great surroundings. Service was excellent being waited on by a very charming waitress who served up one of the best Latte's I've ever tasted. �
We came here with friends who had been previously and had raved about it. We were early to our table and as it was before 5, this wasn't a problem. Seated and drinks order taken quickly, we were left to select a wide range of dishes to satisfy our appetite. We started with garlic and tomato bread and mixed meats/fish on bread. And followed this with a range of dishes including smoked haddock, tempura battered prawns, pork belly with pineapple, meatballs, a type of Scots egg, paella, pork cheek to name a few! We ordered a lot and thoroughly enjoyed it, accompanied by water, soft drinks wine and sangria! Too stuffed for a dessert, we opted for the sharing platter between 4 giving us a little taste of something sweet...absolutely delicious! My husband even complimented them on the Food...something that he almost never does, so much so that he even said we would be back soon!! And he claimed he wasn't keen on tapas before we came here! A convert!
Came here for a birthday dinner after Google recommended it. Waitress was lovely and very helpful in persuading us to try a few new things! The food was ridiculously good, everything was packed with flavour and for tapas, the portions were big. Would recommend the prawns especially, we couldn't get enough of them! A little on the pricier side, but definitely worth it for a special occasion.
Fourth time here, travelled from Manchester bringing my friend for lunch for her birthday, I had told her of how fabulous it was on previous visits, and we were not disappointed. Absolutely amazing service and food to die for, not literally, but nothing at all we could not be happy with. The staff were extremely good nothing was too much trouble for them. Would highly recommend to anyone� x

We have been to Tapas bars all over but we think this is the best so far. The food was great. The staff also excellent and overall good value.
Can't say enough good things about this restaurant- excellent food, excellent staff, drinks, atmosphere and value for money - worth a trip to york any day.
Absolutely loved it. Great service, fabulous food, lovely wine. What's not to like? I had the lamb croquet, prawns in garlic and beetroot salad, although would have liked a bit more besides just beetroot, but was very tasty.
Ate here today and absolutely loved it. The service was fantastic, friendly and very quick to take orders and serve food. The menu has lots of choice, and we even got a couple of freebies due to the kitchen cooking the wrong order- so instead of wasting it or it sitting under a bulb they gave us it for free! We found the price really competitive, and we will definitely return on our next visit to York.

Me and my wife dined at the Fossgate restaurant. At 16+ stone I feel I'm qualified to say that the food is without doubt the best iv ever had. The service was brilliant and the restaurant itself has a great atmosphere.

First visit to this restaurant. Very fruendly greeting on arrival, nice looking decor. Our server Lorna was very helpful and attentive, talked us through the menu and some recommendations. The food itself was lovely, very tasty and decent portions for 2 people, managed to share a dessert between us. Will definitely be going back.
We ate here on 2 separate occasions. A Spanish restaurant with a variety of tapas on offer.. The dishes We ate on both occasions were cooked beautifully and were presented just as well. It's also a Spanish Sherry bar which We'd never had before. But Were persuaded to try. A d We're glad We did as it was lovely and went with the food well.
The food was good and it's a good setting. Service gets marked down because tax was added to the bill. It looks as if the menu prices don't include VAT, which seems a bit questionable. I think we were also brought more expensive wine than we ordered. It made for a disproportionately expensive evening. And yes, we should have queried it at the time, but we were mellow and relaxed, it didn't really register until later
Good atmosphere, good tapas, good value. To be picky, the prawn tempura's batter was way too heavy, it was more like sweet and sour, and the ham and cheese croquettes were too strongly flavoured. Overall, though, very good.
We've had our date nights at Goodramgate Ambiente for at least 10 years. I guess you could say we are happy with the food, atmosphere and service. We like to try restaurants all over york but Ambiente is our go to restaurant. I can honestly say we have never had a bad experience. Highly recommended.
Perfect meal to end a tiring day exploring York. The food was utterly delicious. I strongly recommend the Sherry ice cream to finish. Truly wonderful. Do book well in advance, as the food, service and atmosphere are so good, you won't get a table otherwise.
From the extremely warm and friendly welcome, through to the advice on the menu and sherry pairings everything was above and beyond our expectations, but then the food came and it was stunning! Honestly this is one of the best meals we have had in a very long time. All the way through Libby our server was attentive and helpful. This was our first visit but it won’t be our last. #10/10

My favourite restaurant chain in Yorkshire. Each Tapas is nicely portioned and filled with flavour. Prices are genuine as well. The only issue with the Goodramgate store is that the restaurant area is a bit too dimly lit. Service was good.
We walked past this place and decided to give it a try. It is very welcoming and we were told a table would be available soon and ordered drinks in the bar area. We were then shown to a massive table upstairs in the restaurant, there was a great vibe and we ordered 7 tapas which were each brought out as they were ready, this meant everything was lovely and hot. Food was delicious and full of flavour. Will definitely come back next time we visit York.
Delicious Spanish tapas with a Moroccan influence. Staff went out of their way to fit us in despite us having no booking on a very busy night. Lorna was a...mazing. Thank you all for making us feel so welcome and for feeding us so well.
Great little bar with delicious Tapas and fab beer, and the most delightful host imaginable. We had two little dogs with us and they were spoiled even more than we were. Highly recommend this little gem.
Came here Christmas eve for a pre panto lunch. Food was authentic and tasted great. We couldn't stop ordering dishes! Ha ha. Good recommendation of wine also from the staff. Service was friendly and warm. We'll be back soon!
What a lovely evening we had. Attentive staff and drinks came quickly. The food was perfectly cooked and it's a lovely way to nibble the evening away with different flavours. Some great red wines on offer.

Excellent food and service. We grazed for a couple of hours on amazing food. This included 6 tapas and a drink each.
We were confused at the £98 bill but paid it. Later we noticed that approximately £20 was taken in the table service and what they called tax. We just were not prepared for such expense. I haven't been put off but I will check my bill in future before paying it.
