Absolutely decedent. Had the mussels starter and was blown away by the flavours in the sauce. Was followed by the steak special (Two steaks and a bottle of wine for £34) and was flabbergasted, everything was cooked to perfection. To top it all off 2 for £10 cocktails which not only were they refreshing but generously sized. A solid 10/10, I highly recommend to anyone, give this little hidden gem a shot and you will be amazed. - Easily one of the best restaurants in York, with extremely friendly staff.

We'd stumbled across this restaurant while trying to find somewhere special to eat for my birthday meal. Well this place did not disappoint. From the moment we were greeted by the host very hospitable. Food was amazing! and it was not a case of one in one out. I haven't enjoyed a relaxed meal and enjoyed amazing food in such a long time. When I visit York I will definitely be visiting here again. What a hidden gem 💎

Last night 30/6/18 me and my partner ate here. Nothing was to much trouble for the staff. Made us feel welcome and catered to our needs. The food was so delicious we had the three courses which normally we wouldn’t of. It was also nearly closing and they never rushed us at all. I would definitely recommend them to anyone and will certainly be coming back. Thank you so much

What a hidden gem! Fabulous outside space, blankets & heaters in colder weather, canopy cover or sunshine and the loveliest cocktails! Really pleasant staff and beautiful food. What’s not to love?! If I was a York local it would be a regular haunt.

Excellent food and ambiance.... relaxed and casual, being hidden away is an advantage, reminds me of places in Europe, al fresco dining a bonus

Been to York a few times now (love it) and wanted to try somewhere new to eat. Ate O’Clock looks lovely from the outside and is fairly nice once in, although a tad tired looking. Food was of a good standard and all was fairly tasty. My son enjoyed his Caesar Salad and was very happy with the portion size. I had the Roast Pork Belly and was given 2 small cubes of it, so I definitely wanted more (a bit ungenerous I thought) and also seemed more deep fried than roasted which was a shame, but all trimmings were delicious. The service was very good and all staff were friendly and attentive. We’d definitely go back to Ate O’Clock to give it another go!

We went for our wedding meal (a low key one just 4 of us). From start to finish everything was fantastic. We had a very warm welcome and were shown to a table that was just right and as requested. The staff were all friendly and outgoing. We had a beautiful meal which was very well presented and delicious. The drinks available were excellent and definitely right for everyone. We were very grateful for the free glass of bubbly and the congratulations plate after was a very nice touch, which helped add to a fantastic day. Thank you to all the staff working that night, everything was 100% perfect. It is very highly recommended from us all and hopefully will be on our list to revisit very soon.

Stunning entrance!! Lovely food, warm and very tasty sticky toffee pudding with lashings of toffee sauce, which was perfect. Was very quick turn around, all done and paid within 70 mins, which would have liked a little bit more time between. Asked on booking what special occasion it was, nothing mentioned, so unsure why they asked. Toilet area very squashed.

Went to Ate O Clock and had the best grilled chicken ever. This chicken was juicy, tasted amazing and exceeded my expectations. I also had a drink (which I can’t remember the name of now) but it was very refreshing. For dessert I had a sticky toffee pudding, a perfect way to end my dining experience. Although I did have to wait a while to get a server’s attention to order, the quality of the food made up for it. :)

Great place tucked away from the main street. I visit often so thought it's time I left a review. Very friendly staff and great service every time I have been. There are plenty of vegetarian options too which is great ad a few of my friends are veggie. Tonight I had the bork belly dish and it was incredible, presented well with plenty of vegetables and delicious crispy pork belly.

Lovely atmosphere, amazing service, and a reasonable price (2 courses for £22 set menu). The food was nice but the burger sauce wasn't to my taste, I would recommend booking.

first time I've been hear and wow , lovely food , staff , and prices. We ordered from the set menu I had halloumi fries, as a starter and leg of duck as the main , best duck I've had just fell from the bone. the only thing which got me was the "voluntary" service charge , which yes it is but after a few beers i didn't notice this had been added , Id rather tip personally to the staff than have this put on slightly underhand for the UK , that said I'll remember next time i visit thank you

We went to have dinner for our anniversary on Valentine’s day. The service started with professional photographer at the entrance with decoration, the atmosphere was lovely, food was delicious, service was perfect with anniversary slate dessert. We really enjoyed our night and we will come back again.

Cannot rate this place enough, incredible. It's such a beautiful restaurant serving high quality food for a really good price! They have the biggest Gluten Free menu I have ever seen of really tasty food! They have a set menu, normal menu, dessert, drinks and cocktails. I had the braised rump beef in red wine sauce for £17.50 pictured below, cannot recommend enough! I wish I had taken pictures of the interior because the atmosphere was lovely.

Amazing experience, the food is incredible. We had the steak and side deal for £15. They gave my girlfriend a birthday card when we got to our table, as requested a table out the crowd they provided. They also brought out a free dessert saying happy birthday. The staff and venue was incredible, I highly recommend. Service charge is optional but at 10 percent and the service provided I wouldn’t remove it as they earned it.

**Review: Ate O'clock, York** Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Ate O'clock in the historic heart of York is truly a dining experience par excellence. From the moment we stepped in, it was evident that this establishment goes above and beyond to create moments that diners will cherish. Booking as walk-ins can sometimes be a hit or miss, but with Ate O'clock, it felt like they were genuinely awaiting our arrival. In a gesture that speaks volumes of their dedication to customer satisfaction, they reached out via phone, welcoming us in with open arms. Our celebration of our first anniversary was rendered even more special by the thoughtful touches they added. The complimentary prosecco sparkled not just in our glasses but also in our eyes, and the delectable chocolate, with the sweet anniversary message artfully inscribed in chocolate script, was the icing on the cake. Such gestures, while seemingly simple, resonate deeply and make an occasion unforgettable. Beyond these gestures, the overall ambiance exudes warmth and coziness. The staff are incredibly attentive, ensuring that every need is met with a smile. It's the kind of place where you instantly feel at ease, enveloped in an atmosphere of genuine hospitality. In conclusion, Ate O'clock is not just a dining venue; it's an experience. They masterfully blend exquisite culinary offerings with heartfelt gestures, making any occasion, whether it's an anniversary or a casual dinner, truly memorable. It's no exaggeration to say everything was beyond amazing. A deserving recipient of a five-star rating, I wholeheartedly recommend Ate O'clock for anyone looking to celebrate life's special moments in York.
