Nice! my wife loved here her meal and it was offer of the day from the blackboard which was the mussles (and i must say with two sides and a glass of wine inc this massive bowl of mussles was stunning value at only £12.50 on the other hand my rib eye was ok only ! however i did order meat at a fish joint, i will go back but next time order from the sea .....................hate to say it but the wife knows best on this one
Menu has a wide variety of seafood dishes, although if you don't like seafood (what do expect from a seafood restaurant) then there isn't much choice. Portions are well presented and good size since fish isn't very filling. check out the special offers on their site before you go to get some bargains.
Well done, Loch Fyne York, worthy of a great review! This was our first visit to Loch Fyne in York; we were really pleased with everything, and the restaurant is a top example of this brand. We booked in advance via the Web as it was Mothering Sunday, so we expected it to be busy. We arrived when it first opened at lunchtime, and It was quiet at first, but quickly filled up; I'm not sure if this is common for weekends, but it's worth checking.
The service was good despite the restaurant getting very busy, and they only appeared to have a couple of servers, who very quickly became almost overwhelmed but managed to keep diners happy.
We had mainly seafood and all dishes were cooked to almost perfection [check out my photos] and some of the best fish dishes I have experienced, we had a couple of specials and a burger for our mains, after some lovely fresh oysters to start. There was a good selection of deserts to finish the meal off well, and even my specific coffee request was handled well.
The prices are a fair reflection of the quality overall, top-class food, nice ambience, and knowledgeable happy servers.
Certainly worth a visit, it's not far from the centre of York, but just enough distance from the really busy parts.
Overall a 10/10 experience. Staff were really experience and professional the entire evening and have top quality service. Food was absolutely unbelievable. lobster was on point. Had flavour and quality and cooked world class. Decent amount of meat for a lobster and a really good price compared to the area. Will definitely be going back there again to try the rest of the menu.
Needed an easy meal before a show, this was perfect. Had to call to delay the time by 15mins, no problem.
Once in the restaurant the staff were attentive and efficient, knowledgeable about the menu and times for dishes to be served.
Then we had 50% off the main courses as a January deal.
Would highly recommend and loom forward to going back
Loch Fyne was a super find! Our party of four had a great meal, engaging service with a very appealing atmosphere.
We started with ½ dozen oysters for each couple. The oysters were very fresh, good size, and very enjoyable.
One in our party decided to have two starters for his main course. His two choices were the Loch Fyne Smoked Haddock Fishcakes which arrived with creamed mustard leeks and lemon oil and Loch Fyne Fish Soup. The soup arrived with shaved Gruyere cheese and chargrilled rye sourdough bread. The other main choices were the Thai Green Curry and Seaford Risotto. The Thai Green Curry was served with king prawns, hake fish, wilted spinach, toasted coconut, and basmati rice. The Seafood Risotto consisted of claims, king prawns, squid, samphire, and sun-dried tomatoes. The taste of the food was amazing and the presentation was outstanding.
For dessert, we shared a serving of Sticky Toffee Pudding and Traditional Creme Brulee. The pudding arrived with toffee sauce and Scottish table ice cream. The Brulee was presented with homemade honey oat cookies. Both desserts were awesome!
This is the place to be if you want an exceptional meal with fantastical service in a great atmosphere. I highly recommend you give Loch Fyne a try. You will not be disappointed; enjoy!
This restaurant is top quality. The food was outstanding, the best we’ve had in a long time and it was a gorgeous treat for me and my mum. We were served by General manager Katie and Daniel assistant manager and their service was the cherry on top of the day, they were wonderful. I really could not fault any part of our visit and will be quick to return! Thank you so much x
Went here for our anniversary dinner - everything was so perfect. Clearly the experts at cooking fish as we were so very impressed with everything that we had. Pic attached of the platter. Highly recommend the King Prawn Linguine as well!
I am lactose intolerant and found the website very easy to navigate to figure out what I could have.
Had the most beautiful meal here. Salmon was amazing. Slightly slow service but we didn't mind the break between starter and main and the food was more than worth the wait 😀
Lovely meal, great wine. Ella was especially attentive, very friendly.
Will definitely go back.
Had a lovely meal here, the staff was very friendly & the food was good too. We chose Loch Fyne seafood mixed grill, seafood risotto, sticky toffee pudding & popcorn sundae. Will definitely be going again
Had a fantastic night. Social distancing was well thought out and made no difference to a great atmosphere. Food excellent all served with smiling eyes. As staff all wore masks. Our waitress was very attentive chatting and helping by explaining dishes we were interested in. Very knowledgeable.
Really good food, I had the seafood mixed grill and each piece of fish and seafood was cooked to perfection. The pork belly was succulent, with a crispy crackly skin. Service was great. There was one minor problem, there was no toilet paper in the ladies but it wouldn't put me off going again
First impressions
Arrived to a quiet dining room on a Tuesday evening. Waitress was very quick to attend to me and provided great recommendations. Friendly and calming environment with a minimalistic flair in terms of décor.
Food
Salt+pepper squid:
Very good taste, not overly salty, complimented well by the Loch Fyne Chenin Blanc (as recommended on the menu)
Pan-fried Sea Bass (filleted), paired with Dauphenoise potatoes and green salad:
Fish was delicious and perfectly flaky, you can truly taste that the fish is fresh. However, I would have liked a little more crisp on the skin. Dauphenoise potatoes had a wonderful level of garlic and were of the perfect consistency, not too firm and not too soft. The green salad however was a little disppointing. I felt the lettuce was rather wilted, and the small quantity of other ingredients (tomato, cucumber and onion) left this side dish a little wanting.
Overall impression:
On the whole, very good. Everything at a high standard with the exception of the green salad. Incredible light meal which left me feeling satiated without bloating.

Ratings (#/5):-
Food: 4/5
Atmosphere: 3/5
Value for money: 3/5
Would I return?: Yes
Overall rating: 4/5
How to get to 5*: Fresh vegetables paired with what is clearly very fresh fish, along with perhaps asking for the diner's preference on skin "done-ness", especially for the 'whole' fish dishes
What a fantastic restaurant the Loch Fyne is. Superb starter of Haggis and Scotch Egg to perfection followed by the main - Smoked Haddock, mashed potatoes with spinach and peas in a creamy mustard sauce. Delicious. Sticky toffee pudding to finish 🤪. What can I say except, Will knew his stuff and was a superb host. Oh and a free glass of champagne each to celebrate my wifes birthday. 🇬🇧🥳🏴👏
Lovely meal. The restaurant was really busy and they are definitely short of staff but even though the service was outstanding. Lucy was amazingly friendly and helpful. We had great evening.
Loved it. 3 years since we visited a Loch Fyne restaurant and again it didn't disappoint. Service was good and food really well prepared.
Here right now Christmas 25th December 2022. Superb atmosphere. Great service. Very happy vibe. Very well done to all the front of house staff. And, we’ll done to all those in the kitchen. Lobster bisque was excellent, sides were great. Mains…plates could have been warmer but…food very good. Highly recommend

Our Last night in York and fancied treating ourselves, so opted for sea food, was originally to be seated next to the door but asked for somewhere further in as it was a cold evening. All in all was not disappointed with the meal or the venue, just would have liked bit more on the seafood grill to justify the cost.
The steamed megrim was very nice but be warned, it’s a boney fish, and difficult to extract them all.
Hope you find this review helpful. Recommended. 👍🏻
