The Whippet Inn - York - Photo album

Really great find in York. We found this place by looking at the reviews and we're glad we did as its a bit tricky to find as its off the beaten track, down by the river front. Obviously very popular with locals though, looking for a great meal out. You definitely have to book (online is easy).
Fantastic Sunday lunch. The roast beef was done to perfection, soft and tender literally melted in your mouth. Accompanied by tasty gravy, good selection of vegetables and famous Yorkshire pudding . Excellent and friendly service. I recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting York.
Totally delicious Sunday roast. Beef cooked to perfection. Huge Yorkshire puddings. Starters and desserts very good also. Great service too. My only minor feedback is food could have been a little warmer but that may be as the meat was rested. But I would highly recommend
I recently had a fantastic Sunday lunch at The Whippet Inn in the beautiful city of York. It was a charming pub that felt very warm and welcoming. It’s easy to find and just off the main shopping area in the main city. They run a 2 or 3 course set Sunday menu, which felt well priced considering the
This place was a very pleasant surprise in York. We came for the meat, and stayed for the wine and gorgeous desert. Their wine selection is very good and we ended up drinking one of their recommendations which was a surprisingly smooth Colombinan “14 hands” red. We started with some pardon peppers a
I booked a table here as I really wanted to try their roast which had good reviews. I was disappointed to learn they stopped serving them at 1630 and my table was booked for 1730. However I quickly found a substitute and it did not disappoint! Ribeye steak with a side of duck fat potatoes and the pe
Beautiful interior and ambience with attentive and knowledgeable staff. Lots of great wine options. I was recommended Shiraz by the waiter and it did not disappoint - Shiraz has now become my go-to choice when it comes to red wine. Regarding their food menu, I think they have mastered their burger,
Been back, again and again, no better place! For some reason this place is not on any list of recommendations, quietly hidden away of the beaten track. Been working and eating (!) for 3 months now in York, best meal so far lovely glass of Shiraz....then Focaccia... Followed by pan roast stonebass
BIG burger - excellent. Cooked exactly as I asked. Retired dairy cows so good flavour. Crispy skinny fries were top drawer. Maple panna cotta was a tasty little sweet treat for afters.
Very attentive and friendly staff, they have a genuineness that is too rarely found in many hospitality venues. Good is very high quality and extremely tasty. Definitely visiting again soon
