Fantastic little pub, I had the mixed grill my wife had the scampi, both cooked to perfection and the portion sizes were spot on, drinks wise I can highly recommend the SHAMBLES BITTER excellent flavour and a really good session beer....the staff are really great too, friendly and helpful.....would definitely use again Only down side I had ......it's a dog friendly pub....not usually a problem for me, being a dog owner myself but that said I REALLY DON'T want dogs puffing and panting next to me while I'm eating my meal

One of the best establishments in York. Friendly, welcoming staff, lovely atmosphere where you can sit and watch the world go by. THE best pork pie and chutney ever!

Fabulous place. Gorgeous food and the staff are amazing. Me and a friend were here on Wednesday and couldn't have asked for anything better! Made to feel welcome from beginning to end! Shame we didn't get to say goodbye to the fab lads that served us. We will be back. Love and luck From one half of the scouse girls in the corner :)

A very busy pub situated in The Shambles area of York. 6 hand pumps of beer, along with bottles and cans that can be drunk inside. Bar snacks are also available. Food is available and although I didn't order any what I saw looked really good There is outside seating for those warmer days that face a bustling market place. The Shambles pub is also dog friendly. At the time of visiting it was very busy. But, the staff were coping really well and were also friendly. Definitely worth a passing visit if you're in York for the weekend.

The Shambles Tavern in York is an absolute delight! Nestled in the heart of the historic Shambles, it offers a charming and cozy atmosphere that's unique in its location. The staff are incredibly welcoming, and the pub's interior is brimming with character. The food and drink selection is fantastic, and the traditional British fare is mouthwatering. What makes this pub truly special is its location on one of the most picturesque streets in York. Whether you're a local or a visitor, The Shambles Tavern is the perfect place to savor a taste of York's history and enjoy a memorable meal. I highly recommend it!

It's my favourite place to visit in york. Staff go above and beyond to make you feel welcome. Great band on Saturday night in bear garden and beer and spirits to fit every taste.

A nice little tavern. Unfortunately no smoking or vaping allowed in the "outside" area which was slightly annoying, but rules are rules. The Mechanics were playing and they were generally a decent covers band! Hopefully they never played "Sweet Child O'Mine" just out of spite after the dude was requesting it after every song 🤣

Love this place and we always visit when we are in York. Husband loves the pie and mushy peas and I love the ploughman's, all fantastic and service is always fabulous. Beer garden is great to people watch with a beer or two or to just chill and listen to the live music if they have some on. Well worth a visit. Dog friendly too.

What a great gem of a place this is. If you enter the premises via the Shambles it looks small but don't be fooled, it has a lot of seating areas at the back, upstairs and undercover outside where you can watch the hustle and bustle of the market. The staff are very friendly and helpful. They have a great variety of ales and drinks to choose from. I personally didn't eat there, but what food I did see looked good.

Nice little place to stop for a drink, especially if you’re a real ale drinker. I’m not, but the guy behind the bar sorted us right out with some nice Rum’s which we drank out the back in their beer garden, which is basically falls onto the Shambles Market. If you’re in York then you’ll probably be heading for the Shambles anyway so I’d recommend a stop in here!
