Had a one night stay as a birthday treat and loved it. There are better places to stay for spa facilities but what they have is lovely. If you are looking for beautiful grounds, elegant surroundings and excellent food, this is the place for you. Every single staff member was very friendly and attentive and were very accommodating with my gluten free requirements. We will definitely return and would recommend it to anyone.
Only there for a buffet after a funeral. However I must say how lovely the place is with very pleasant staff. Visited the Toilet and found it absolutely spotless. Notice all the brass a copper to be polished so you could see your face in it. Also notices other brasses to be well polished including the door step. They must have shares in Brasso. Buffet food was nice especially the scones and cream.
The gardens were well kept with a lovely walled garden to explore.
I would certainly be considering a visit for me and my wife in the future.
Myself and three friends have just returned from staying at this wonderful Hotel, a stones throw from York Racecourse - fab rooms, fab food but most of all the most fabulous attentive Staff. We will definitely return and would highly recommend it. A little gem of a quintessentially English Country House with the most stunning grounds and gardens as an added bonus. Loved everything about it.
We came here as a birthday treat for my friends 40th. The staff were wonderfully attentive, nothing was too much for them. We ate in the restaurant (excellent) and had a splash in the spa. I thoroughly recommend all of it.
Two of my friends booked a champagne afternoon tea on Saturday for the three of us to celebrate my upcoming birthday. The whole experience was a delight from start to finish. The house is beautiful and our reception and treatment were perfect. Tea was fabulous, in wonderfully comfortable and gracious surroundings. The staff were attentive without being intrusive. When we were ready to leave, our taxi failed to turn up. The staff could not have been more helpful, and, when a replacement cab failed to turn up within the promised time frame, one of the staff offered to run us into York himself! Talk about 'beyond the call of duty'! As you can imagine, we will be back.
Enjoyable afternoon tea. Lovely surroundings, nice staff. If I would ask for one thing to be different, it would be more savoury (sandwiches) and less sweet treats. On that basis would have given 4.5 if that option was available. Wouldn’t merit knocking off a whole star.
A fantastic place to stay, staff are extremely helpful and efficient. Beautiful surroundings which didn’t feel stuffy. All the little touches; a card from the manager and staff, homemade shortbread, petit fours, robes, milk, toiletries, bottled water, dog bowls etc... I could go on. Very welcoming for the three of us, me hubby and Lotte (dog). Thank you for making our silver wedding anniversary all the more special. Oh and the food is amazing! Highly recommended 💕
We have just checked in again for another night and we have just been upgraded to one of the cottages, what a fantastic place this is, the place is wonderful, the staff are always friendly and helpful and nothing is too much trouble, the facilities are great and we are looking forward to our spa treatments in the morning.
When we are back in the UK we will definitely stay here again.
My wife and I were treated to lunch by some friends for our Golden Wedding anniversary. It was a beautiful day in elegant surroundings with ver attentive staff and wonderful food. Neither of us use spas so that wasn't an issue. Highly recommended

Booked in just for one night. It was a birthday/wedding anniversary present off my husband. We stayed in one of the cottages and it was beautiful. From the minute we checked in til we checked out the service was impeccable. The food was excellent and very tasty. We were well looked after. Would definitely recommend Middlemarch Hall to anyone if you want somewhere special to go. We used the pool, sauna and steam room. Then we had a refreshing swim in the pool. On Sunday morning after breakfast we had a massage at he spa and that set us up for the drive home. A well deserving 5*****. Thank you Middlemarch Hall
Staying at Middlethorpe Hall at Christmas is a holiday fantasy! From the moment we arrived until our all too soon departure we were pampered and looked after. The staff are perfectly superlative in their attentiveness! The food was inspired and cadence of events was ideal! We have spent at least four Christmases at Middlethorpe Hall and we will be pleased to continue the tradition for years and years to come!
Four of us had lunch there for my wife’s birthday. Lovely place (we remember it as Brummell’s night club back in the day) and lovely staff.
Food was excellent and they went the extra mile to accommodate a vegan member of our party.
