Searched TripAdvisor for steak restaurants in York, it was between here & The Whippet. We chose Kennedy’s as Thursday night was 2 steaks for £30 including a bottle of wine. When we walked in it wasn’t what we thought (posh steak restaurant), but so so glad we chose here. The steak & chips were beautiful! And the peppercorn sauce so creamy. One of the best, if not the best steak meals I’ve had. The people working here are super friendly & we had a lovely time. Would definitely recommend
Lovely meal yesterday in York with family. Fish and chips was to die for....tender white fish and batter which melted in the mouth!

Awesome cooked breakfast in here this morning. Very good value for money full english with a pot of tea for £7.95. Lovely waitress very friendly and food tasted lovely. Will definitely be going back.
Went on Thursday steak night, 2 steaks and a bottle of wine £29.99 really nice, staff lovely, great ambience, would return and recommend.
Lovely food and decent price, I had the chicken wrap and my 2 colleagues also enjoyed their meals.

Visited for food with my fiance on Monday evening and really can't fault the place. The service was fantastic, and the food excelled all expectations. I had an allergy which I forgot to mention at the time of order, however they couldn't have done enough to help when I asked them about it when the food was delivered. I'm not sure why some people are complaining on here about the length of wait for food. Yes there is a bit of a wait. However everything is cooked fresh so what do they expect? If you want fast food, go to Mcdonalds. If you want great, fresh cooked food, then go to Kennedys. Will definitely visit when next on York.
Lovely food, Malasian chicken curry with rice. Hock ribs with chips and yummy sticky toffee pudding with sauce. The staff are very polite and curtious..lovely place in a great location. We will definitely be going again.
Love Kennedy's, over ordered on food for just 2 of us but it was lovely. Hubby thought the beef on the ploughmans platter was a bit too peppery. But it was very nice. Staff are lovely too 👍

Fabulous. We ate on the roof terrace, while there is no view, on a balmy summer evening it was just perfect. The customer service was outstanding. We were served by Adam and he was friendly, helpful and attentive. He made us feel welcome and made us laugh and served up fabulous food. The chicken and leak pie was exceptional and highly recommended. We indulged in cocktails and Irish coffees as well as a main and sweet and thoroughly enjoyed our evening there. And well done to Adam on top notch service.
We ducked in for lunch while shopping. Very friendly staff. Big serves of tasty food. Nice place to just chill and enjoy a cider. Recommended
We stopped here for an early lunch- we were immediately greeted warmly and seated. Staff were really quick and so friendly. Food was great; menu has something for everyone. We were there on a Monday so most of the menu was half price! Lovely atmosphere and music, staff great, food great- you won’t regret it.
Went there on Wednesday which is half-price burgers day. The burgers and hand-cut chips were excellent, the staff were friendly and the service was good.
We were greeted promptly, sat down and served by very helpful staff (who arranged the available outdoor table, allowed us to use tastecard even though we hadn’t booked, and were very accommodating with alternative ideas when the wine we ordered had run out).
We came here for Sunday dinner, first off the music was ridiculously loud and not needed. However, that didn’t take away from the great service and great food. The menu could have been a little more transparent when stating honey glazed carrots and asking it turns out they don’t use real honey, which is great for vegans, but the question still had to be asked. I had the chestnut roast, I wasn’t holding out much hope as I am not a fan of nut roasts but this was amazing. So flavourful and rich, the plate was in the small side for roasties and veg.
Lovely place for lunch with very friendly staff and comfort food. Try the wainwright beer.

Walked in no booking but seated very soon, shared a steak sandwich, fried and drinks . Great service and delicious food, steak cooked perfectly. Ambience ok, but areas of light and dark and very echoey, just a not for anyone with autism issues. Dark stairway and dark walls to facilities. But excellent service and food x thank you to the young lady who served us. X
Had a lovely night out. The food was fantastic. By far the best part was the service. Lewis did a fantastic job with ordering our mains and drinks, he was exceptionally polite, friendly, and patient. We were seated and ordered our deserts with Emily who was equally excellent, we were happy to pay the service charge because of how great they were. Give them both a raise!!
We noticed a two for one offer on burgers here and decided to try it out as never been before. Nice cosy interior, plenty of seating. Staff were friendly and welcoming and the menu had loads of variety. The burgers were amazing and the portions so big that one meal would’ve done two adults! Would definitely definitely recommend
Steak I ordered was perfectly cooked and seasoned. Service is at the bar, but took a while to clear the old dishes off our table, the server was trying her best! Standard bar atmosphere inside.
I rarely do reviews but feel the need to as myself and partner visited on Sunday and had the nicest Sunday dinner we have ever had. I don't think our photos do it justice. Everything was cooked perfectly, finished with a chocolate dessert which was equally as nice. We are regulars to york and visit a lot. We like to try different places and to this date we have never had a bad meal anywhere but We will be returning to kennedys to hopefully Try the burgers 🍔
Four of us called in for lunch. We all had burgers which came with chips. Freshly cooked to order. The staff were very attentive and friendly. The meal was too large for two of us was quickly packed in foil trays to take home. Not much atmosphere as it was on a lunch time . It was clean and tidy. The only thing I could say was it was a little chilly . At the moment 50 per cent off or two for one on burgers Monday to Wednesday so definitely worth a visit

We were on the hunt for some where to eat and cane across this place.
We went on a Wednesday where they offer 2 for 1 on selected burgers, we got the Kenney burger and I forgot the other one it was chicken and beef, we also got loaded nachos plus a beer and a cider.
We paid about £35 in total which we thought was reasonable for everything we got!
We were both stuffed and could not finish it all, the portions here are huge!
The staff were excellent and very friendly, was a great meal out and highly recommended. If you are in York and fancy a burger give this place a shot!
Called in on a Friday afternoon to take advantage of the January special of 50% off food, We were the only 2 in which seemed strange and thought did people know something we didn’t about this place! We ordered drinks and 3 of their small plates to start, the pardon peppers, chicken & chorizo skewers and the sourdough bread they were excellent and well presented, we then ordered the burger and the Korean chicken flat bread both again excellent, by this time the place had started to fill up and the atmosphere was good. When the bill arrived there was a service charge which worked out around 15% and to around £9.00 the server said it could be removed we asked the server if they got it or it went to the restaurant, she said they got it so we paid it as we were going to tip them £5.00 anyway as they were so nice. The service charge is not stated anywhere on the menu which may cause confrontation from some customers. All in all a good experience and a bonus with the food discount.
Plates are full. Husband got a steak and was cooked exactly how he asked. Mine was a pulled pork burger and you can see in photo how big (even though I had ate some). Busy, popular and great atmosphere.
Delicious food and portions are perfect. Had the Korean chicken smothered fries and chicken tikka. Great flavors. Could use Guinness on tap, wasn’t a fan of the stout.
Good food and friendly service from the staff and crew. Helpful and polite wait staff however was some slight wait for the food, when it arrived was perfect for a rainy day in York, others seem to enjoy the loaded fries and burgers, whilst I had their signature dish the bullette which was brilliant. Of note is the kids eat free offer, so your kids can also enjoy the delectable food from the kitchen.
