Toto's is a gem in the cluttered restaurant scene in York that is dominated mostly by chain restaurants. Toto's doesn't offer a fine dining experience, however it is extremely cozy and family-friendly, with a very friendly and attentive staff. Everything we had from the appetizers to our main dishes and the dessert were cooked from scratch in the restaurant and absolutely delicious. Of particular note are Toto's pizza and calzones. I personally love calzones, and Toto's signature dough made in house for their pizzas and calzones wad warm, fluffy, and fresh. Additionally, my calzone was stuffed with ham, cheese, fresh mushrooms, garlic, and topped off with a decadent Bolognese sauce. The portion was significant, and I don't think it cost more than 9 pounds. For value, a family-friendly restaurant, and an absolutely delicious Italian dining experience, Toto's is a must.
Visited in November 2023. Delicious food, most unique garlic bread, partner said best he’s ever had!! Lovely service. Booked last minute and fitted us in that evening. Staff very attentive.
Everything about our meal was perfect. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. I had a chicken special which was cooked to perfection and the tiramisu was the best I've ever had.
The only problem was that we forgot to tip which gives us a good excuse to return as quickly possible.
I can’t believe I haven’t been here before! Lovely cosy atmosphere with friendly staff and quick service, plus really tasty Italian food made the proper way. Don’t skip on the desserts too - they’re top notch. Will definitely come back again
Found this place totally by accident. Visiting York for a concert at the Barbican.
Absolutely superb. All four of us enjoyed the food. Service was spot on and the staff friendly and welcoming.
So wish we lived closer. (We are from Devon and Lincolnshire) would return ro York just to eat here, it was that good.
Relaxed friendly atmosphere, staff very pleasant, food was delicious. A lovely little restaurant with lots of Italian vibes 😋
Extremely well-run little Italian restaurant near the Barbican.
Set out exactly as you'd expect, with a concealed view into the kitchen where the chefs beaver away to make cracking food in a short time without fuss. Served by great staff who make sure you are kept happy and content.
Clearly owned and run by an Italian family and their close friends.
Great atmosphere and well decorated. The menu can be a little hard to read but having it themed like a newspaper is a nice concept. The pizzas very nice with thin bases. Desserts are very good too
Just had the most fantastic meal here. We hadn't booked, but they managed to find us a table on a busy Friday evening.
The food was excellent, and the service was so friendly and efficient.
Great restaurant and excellent service.
Great wine selection too.
My 1st time here but our daughters 4th. (We don't l8ve 8n York unfortunately).
All 6 of us enjoyed our food. Really tasty and great choice.
Good service and excellent value for money.
Would definitely recommend.
Merry Christmas and a healthy, prosperous New Year to all the staff.
Been wanting to try here for a long time. Loved it, great service, food and wine. It’s also a great cosy venue. Love it 🇮🇹 👍
Out of Towners looking for a nice place to eat, Booked a table for Six, absolutely fantastic food, staff are brilliant too, top quality Italian restaurant, difficult to find places like this now. Every place has them you have to find them, highly recommend and will be going here again when we visit York. Thanks for a great experience
Absolutely delicious food. I had the whitebait to start, followed by the calzone with bolognese and finished off with totos ice cream with meringue raspberry coulis, whipped cream and ice cream. Everything was delicious and the primitivo wine was delicious too. I Highly recommend this restaurant!
The food was first rate and the staff were the best. We had a lovely meal and and good laugh with the waiter. They seated 6 of us without any bother despite us calling in without having booked.
The atmosphere was great and the service impeccable.
The facilities were also second to none and very clean.
Fantastic restaurant and ideal if you're attending an event at the Barbican. Wonderful staff and the food was amazing.
So happy I finally booked dinner here. Lovely, cosy atmosphere. Staff and even other diners very friendly. Food was really tasty and not overly expensive. I lived in Italy for 17 years, so I can be very picky about authentic Italian food. It really does hit the spot. Would definitely recommend..... I'll be back soon 😊
Really lovely atmosphere, deeeeelicious food. We came up from Exeter and were delighted with our booking. We would have gone back Tuesday but they are closed... thoroughly recommend it, excellent.
Loved the food, friendly atmosphere and good service.
Wonderful place. Fantastic service from family run restaurant. I had a bruschetta for starter and it was the best I have ever had. Even better than one I had in Italy. Eccellente 👌
