A wonderful place! Absolutely delicious cake (I recommend the Mocha cake- yum!) and excellent quality coffee! The staff were so nice and friendly- I came with my friend's dog who I was looking after and we were both made to feel very welcome. It's fantastic to have an area of York so full of brilliant independent businesses (I myself work at Rainbows Ceramics, an independent pottery painting studio just round the corner on Bootham) and Osbornes is definitely a jewel in the crown of York's independent cafes! Thank you for a lovely experience, I definitely recommend and will return!

Discovered this hidden gem on a sunny bank holiday monday and it was so lovely to sit outside in the little garden area! The food was delicious, i had an amazing mac n cheese and my sister had the smoked haddock which she said was lovely too. They even made an impressively large cheese sandwich for my 2 year old nephew on request which he really enjoyed! The staff were absolutely brilliant especially the lady who served us. Will definitely recommend to my friends and family in york and be visiting again next time im back!

Lovely breakfast on a wet morning. All staff were more than happy to welcome us with a soggy dog. We were asked if we would like a towel, water and biscuits for our dog . Happy dog , happy owners

It really feels like you are treating yourself when you come here. A really attractive interior and beautiful garden area. Superb food - I've had breakfast, lunch and cake (at different visits!) at a very reasonable price for the quality. Service can't be faulted either, pretty fast and one of the friendliest places in York. I brought some friends who were staying with me and they loved it too. Looking forward to coming back plenty more times...

York is full of great places to eat. However, this stands out as a 'go to' place. My husband and I go when we can and most recently we were impressed that our host remembered us, and that Robin had left his reading glasses. He was reunited with them. It is also the place I choose for 1:1 networking meetings in relation to my work as a reflexive-practitioner psychologist

We came here for lunch today but I've been several times before. Our little dog really enjoyed the sausage from the doggy menu and we both loved our main dishes and cake. I'm gluten free and was pleased that the entire menu can be made GF if requested- this is rare in restaurants, especially with such a varied menu! Most of the cakes available were GF and several were vegan too, which is cool that everyone is provided for. I tried the lemon and rose meringue cake and it was gorgeous, albeit a bit dry (standard for GF cakes)- thankfully they served it with plenty of cream and lemon curd. Delicious! We'll definitely be back, I can see it becoming a regular lunch spot for us!

Not only is this a fab lunch spot, Osbournes offers Cakes made to Order. Viv baked the most stunning cake for my partner’s birthday. We discussed flavours landed on cherry and coconut (his favourite) with real cherries in the sponge. What’s more it, was gluten free and no one at the party believed it! It went down an absolute storm Thank you so much!

Super Dog friendly café. The staff were incredibly welcoming, gave out dog a blanket to lay on and a water bowl. We had a separate menu for the dog. The food was fantastic, and the selection of drinks was too. Highly recommended.

This is a lovely, super accommodating café. The staff were really friendly, gave a bowl of water to our dog, and assured my coeliac friend that they try to minimise all gluten items, including not putting any gluten items into the fryer. Food was great! I had a roast pepper quiche (pictured), my coeliac friend had a gluten-free burger (she said it tasted just like the real thing), and another of our friends had a leek and potato soup. All the portions were larger than expected, and very filling, which is a shame as the cakes looked lovely! Would highly recommend :)

Great little dog-friendly cafe. We visited last year when in York and headed here again this year. Coffee & cake were great and our dog loved his sausage and egg from the doggy menu. Very friendly service and a fuss was also made of our dog which he loved 😀

Wonderful dairy free Victoria sponge cake. Tasted fresh and home made. Far superior to what I tend to bake at home. Staff were very friendly, smiley and welcoming.

Excellent cake options at Osborne's 68 on Gillygate for our mid afternoon tea stop while pottering around the city yesterday. Only realised afterward that we had eneded up choosing vegan and gluten-free options which is testament to some damn good baking. Luckily it was still just about warm enough to sit outside in their pretty outdoor courtyard that was an oasis away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

We've had five days in York, and three of them spent here. The owner is lovely and really nice to chat to. The cakes are amazing and lots of choice. A lovely way to chill after the shops and sights of York.

Lovely coffee shop in York. Breakfast was lovely, veggie sausages home made 😁. Cakes are always amazing, always homemade too. Staff are really friendly and professional. And they are very doggie friendly. They have a dog wall with pics of the dogs who come in 😍

An amazing cafe just outside the medieval walls, the big full English was amazing, especially the sausages. The black pudding was a bit too dry in my opinion, but nobody cares with such a wonderful location. The cakes looks absolutely delicious but we haven't tasted them yet.

This is a must, especially for any dog lover. The dogs are as important as their owners here. We had breakfast which was delicious and they cater for vegans and vegetarians too which is always a positive! The coffee is great and they have a special dog menu. It’s a must visit. The outdoor space is stunning especially on a sunny morning. Staff are also fabulous. It’s heaven, dogs food and sunshine.
