New to the area and came for brunch... it was very busy, but the service was fast and friendly.... excellent poached eggs on our eggs benedict! Will definitely be back!
Fantastic food ... best waffles ever, lovely scones and great atmosphere will definitely be back next time we're in York!!
Lovely friendly café with wonderful staff and great food
One of my favourite places in York, the food is always delicious, you can't beat illy coffee and most of all I love the sense of community the whole place has You can't beat it
My most favourite place for breakfast EVER. Amazing food and amazing staff
Lovely, as always and the sun was shining 😍
Wow! Absolutely stellar experience. Not even sure how I found it but I’m so glad Google brought me here. So much to say as everything was memorable and special. Located in a cute little village south of the river, it’s in one of lovely parts of town where every shop you need is available and it has a real community feel. The restaurant itself seems to be an institution and reminds you of what makes a cafe great. Locals who care about what they make and sell. The inside is decorated with some great stuff, which adds to the charm. The chef/owner was cooking up amazing meals and the front staff were friendly and made the experience even better. Since it was late March, I had to go with the seasonal asparagus benedict, which huge spears and tasty greens over delicious sourdough toast. From start to finish, this was one of the better breakfasts I’ve had anywhere in the world.
Jorvic Googled "best breakfast near me" and this came up. Paulicarus says it was an inspired decision. Both had the meaty full English. Easily one of the best ever and maybe the best. They use local farm suppliers. Excellent sausage, bacon, black pudding, eggs and toast. Throw in beans, tomato and mushroom for £11. Non stop trade on our visit. Super taste in 60' and 70' music! A cosy place. Hope to be back soon.
Had some great breakfast here over the weekend. The service was a bit slow, but the food was great! The fry up was solid and the waffles were great.

A place that's been on our list for a long time... Popped in for Brunch on a recent trip to York and wasn't disappointed.
Very busy but fortunately turning around tables so everyone that arrived got seated whilst we were there. Lots of takeaways too
Fabulous coffee and lovely food. 😍
A lovely cafe with friendly staff, quick service, and a wide variety of breakfast/lunch menu. We visited around 9AM on a rainy Saturday morning and were fortunate to have a table inside with only a 10-minute wait. We had a smoked salmon sandwich and a mushroom sourdough toastie. It was one of the best sourdough bread I ever had with the perfect level of chewiness and complex flavour! Definitely worth the wait but they do takeaway as well.
The best eggs benedict we've ever eaten! Benedict Cumberland! We'll definitely be back to try them all! Thanks for the excellent service!
"It actually tastes like a home cooked meal". Very calm and cosy atmosphere, absolutely great service and very tasty food.
Bishy road has a wonderful vibe and this is a great little cafe there. I had a coffee and a toasted sandwich while sat in the outside terrace enjoying a bright Spring morning.
The service staff are great and attentive. They suggest options and repeat your order back to you, a simple thing that so many places skip that makes sure your order will be correct.
Coffee came very quickly and the toasted sandwich was prompt. The coffee was very nice, rich and velvety without being cloying. The toasted Reuben has the right mix of sharpness and roundness of flavour.
Would defo come here again.
Called here this Tuesday morning, seating outside as well as inside.
Very busy but we managed to get a table inside this clean and tidy establishment.
A little wait before our order was taken which the polite and friendly young lady who served us apologised for.
The fantastic food arrived in a timely manner given the circumstances.
Cumberland sausage and eggs benedict on sourdough toast (not Cumberland in shape) with a side of herb mushrooms, all delicious, and a herb mushrooms on sourdough toast with a tomato.
Good coffee also.
Absolutely amazing place for brunch. I had the Korean fritters for main as the lovely waitress (whose name I didn't catch) recommended them, I was torn between these and the waffle. She said kids waffles are available so that was always a brunch pudding option. So I ofc did both. My friend had the full breakfast and said it was incredible. Cannot recommend enough, only thing I would change is for them to be dog friendly but they are outside so on a warmer day would have been perfect.
