Just the best place. Excellent fresh, healthy and tasty food, interesting menu with flexibility re 'extras'. Very friendly staff. Delicious cakes and lovely environment. No bookings, so be prepared to queue, but it's worth it.

There were 5 of us for brunch, including 2 small children which were accommodated for perfectly. The brunch was the best I’ve had for ages possibly ever in york. The staff were all lovely. We had to wait for a table for about 20 mins as it’s all quite small tables but the staff did everything they could to get us a table as quick as poss.

Excellent find. We both had bacon, egg and smashed avocado with toast. It was SO tasty and a good sized portion. Coffee was good too. Pleasant staff, nice setting. The cakes looked amazing...it was a pity that we were so full and couldn't fit one in!! Would definitely recommend.

What a fabulous place, small but they get to you as soon as possible to seat you. Another cake and coffee shop of theirs next door but one if that's all you want. Beautiful breakfast and great presentation and service. Yes a little more expensive than the average breakfast but so worth it. Great selection but we were dreaming of pancakes and maple syrup and were not disappointed. So good, light and fluffy and stacked high with syrup and blueberries with crispy bacon! Lovely smooth coffee and good selection of drinks. Cakes looks amazing too. Well worth it!

I have to say it was an exceptional experience. The staff were friendly, talkative and welcoming and very accommodating. The food was second to none. No word of a lie probably the best toasty and brownies I've ever eaten! You must visit Brew and Brownie if you are in York, it would be criminal not too.

Small but perfectly formed! After a very short wait for a table we were seated in comfort and our order was taken quickly. Drinks arrived almost immediately and the food was not far behind, halumi on sourdough sandwich with awesome roasted veg and chilli jam along with a chicken, bacon and pesto sandwich. Just amazing sandwiches! After a slice of Terry chocolate orange brownie with cappuccino, fabulous brownie, so far as to say the best! This independent eatery is well worth a visit and the short wait for a table

Came across this gem on instagram so thought we would try it out on our next visit to York. Absolutely amazing! really friendly staff, great atmosphere. Super busy too at 3pm ish. Lovely menu with variety and homely fresh ingredients. Caters for all tastes and diets. Generous portions. Reasonably priced. This little cafe will be an absolute bomb and no doubt we will have to wait for a table each time! Thank you for a lovely afternoon treat

Every time it's blooming FANTASTIC! the staff always smiling, food fricking ace. Pancakes are SOMETHING ELSE. Cakes are big, yummy and to say I am the world's fussiest, most question asking, pain in the ass menu changing customer that also is an utter cake snob..... Brew + Brownie do not disappoint!!

Great little place on the way into York from the station. Decided to have a coffee to try it out - great coffee and awesome amoretti brownie. So good went back for lunch and had a chicken and sun blushed tomato sandwich - lovely. Staff very friendly. Very popular but don't be put off if you have to wait for a table - it's worth it. 10 out of 10.

Came here one Sunday morning , arrived at 9 o'clock and there was already a queue. I recommend you to arrive early so u don't have to wait as this place is quite popular and there are always people waiting. Had a latte, fresh orange juice and avocado toast with poached eggs. Very good quality food and the service was great. They had some yummy pastries as well.

My go to place for the best pancakes ever. Other menu options are delicious too, however I am partial to an American pancake stack. Mix it up a bit with seasonal specials. They do the best hot chocolate in town, I love my hot chocolate extra hot and they never disappoint. Always a pleasure to visit here.

Summary: A brunch place to visit; cosy, tasty, and just what you need to be a bit happier. There was a queue to get in, so I waited about 30 minutes before I was sat, but it was worth it. The quality of the coffee there is excellent (they even do decaf!), and so is the food. Shame I didn’t try anything sweet, but I would expect it to be the same high quality as the rest of the food and drink here.

We have been to Brew&Brownie 2 days in a row, queue for 10-15mins to get the table, even my kid said it's worth the wait, that's how good they are. Fresh ingredients, perfectly done coffee, every dish and drink was spot on. I like the special French toast very much! Highly recommend if you are visiting York, great location in central town. Kids friendly and helpful staff. Definitely will visit again next time when we travel in York.

A classic York brunch spot I have visited many times. Their pancakes are so incredible that they have caused me to almost never order anything else when I go. The best topping is absolutely the yogurt, honey and compote. Although there's often a queue at peak times it is definitely worth a wait.

What a lovely coffee/tea shop! I had a delicious brunch, the sourdough toast with scrambled eggs topped with smoked Salmon was divine! The double espresso was also very tasty (I had two). They have good options of baking goods, from their signature brownies to muffins and apple pies. Service was excellent, Francesca and Georgia were fantastic, very welcoming and sweet. Atmosphere is great and cozy. Summary of it: for a fabulous brunch experience in York, don’t even think twice, Brew & Brownie is the place to go!

We were a group of 4 and it took us around an hour to be seated, which isn’t bad considering how long the queue was when we went here during the Easter hols. The eggs royale and avocado toast were good but nothing substantial. I’d recommend getting the apple pancakes as they were the best dish we got.

After a short wait outside, we managed to get a table. This is quite unusual as we have walked past many occasions and there’s been a long queue. It just shows how popular this cafe is! I’ve been many times when it first opened, so familiar with the set up. However, the decor looks great and feels freshened from my last visit before lockdown. The chap who ushered us in was lovely and friendly!! We were a bit late having lunch, so some of the options were sold out! But we plumped for pancakes and brioche french toast. The drinks were ordered and came quite quickly. The cake counter had many delightful bakes, but we couldn’t fit in after a lovely lunch, so we’ll be back again next time!!

Headed here on a morning for breakfast. Highly recommend coming as early as you can; the place filled up pretty quickly with many people waiting outside. Inside is very modern with local art prints and plenty of cakes and brownies strewn across the counter and windowsill. The breakfast was exceptional with butter bean baked beans, crispy streaky bacon and their sourdough bread. The eggs were cooked perfectly - I would highly recommend adding some black pudding to the breakfast for the full experience. We saw a neighbouring customer get their pancakes and they were stacked very high, with loads of syrup and cream! Unfortunate we didn’t stay another day to try them. The orange juice, although £4, was really fresh and worth it as a pick-me-up on a morning. We went back later in the day to get some billionaire’s shortbread and brownies for takeaway 😅
