As I had mentioned in my earlier reviews, being a hard core Malayalee I would search and find anywhere possible to satisfy my homely food cravings. Surprisingly I could do the same in Yorkshire as well. We found this restaurant coincidentally through a cab driver who was also a Malayalee. He suggested this restaurant and we decided to try out for dinner. No matter which part of the world we stay, Malayalees have a special passion for yummylicious spicy food. We ordered the chicken Malabar biriyani with parotta and prawns masala. The spices were in right amount and parotta was crispy. Prawns masala was too good. Definitely coming back here next time we visit York. Cheers!

Came here on a quiet weekday for a catch up with my friend.
Was served and looked after by Joshua
Before coming I made a online reservation and put in the notes we wanted the crab curry... And I'm so glad I did... I believe they took the time to take the meat out of the crab and out it back in its shell and placing the curry sauce over the curry... This was exceptionally very good and highly recommend. This reminded me of my travels and the indian crab curry i always have in Malaysia . Another highlight was finally getting a proper paratha (aka Roti's in Malaysia ) so many times I've been to restaurants and never gave me a proper paratha... Well they serve them here and they are very well made... Flaky chewy and the right crisp to softness... Teamed exceptionally well with the crab curry.
We requested the Thali with no lamb - mo problem at all. Ot was replaced with another chicken curry... Every component of the Thali was tasty and generous huge chunky meat and prawns... At least two pieces of meat in each little dish.
Not knowing how big the portions was we also had a meat platter and a chicken masala dosa... Dosa was generously filled...Too generous... But this does reflect in the price compared to other places I have had them at.
Meat platter was a crispy beef, great texture...But a little tough. Chicken 65...Very juicy and flavoursome.... And another chicken in a spicy sauce...All very tasty but would be perfect with more salad on plate π
Overall a very relaxing evening, great food and great service from Joshua who took time to talk to us.
Oh oh oh did I mention the mango lasso is also a very big jug!!!
Definitely coming back...But next time I'll make sure not to order so much as the portions are big from Coconut Lagoon
What a gorgeous meal. This is the second time my husband and I have eaten here and it is even better this time - which we didnβt think was possible. Perfect, friendly service. The food is to absolutely die for. We were spoiled for choice as the menu has so many beautiful options. I highly recommend the lamb byriani as well as the Chicken 65 starter!
Absolutely delicious, I'd highly recommend!!! We are both vegetarians and struggled to decide what to order as everything looked amazing. What we had was delicious, especially the paneer dosa. The staff were very good as well. One of our best meals in Yorkshire.
We looked on line while in york 13 /4/24 Saturday staying at the minster hotel and the coconut lagoon came up with good reviews so we gave it a try as it was only 10 minutes walk away.
The first thing is the really friendly staff very warm and welcoming π and how nice the restaurant was and clean π then the starters were wonderful and very tasty. The main. Was delicious and a taste me or my partner had not experienced before very different but extremely tasty I've got to say π so please on my recommendation give this gem a try it is wonderful π.and the staff really nice .. 5 star πππππ

I've been planning to visit this place for a few months and i finally did this week! I would say I had a great experience and the food was just so amazing. Its been a while since I had Indian food and I would definitely recommend Coconut Lagoon for that Indian food cravings!
Booked as looked OK, small place but excellent staff and food. The food is southern Indian food but was just soooooo good. Servers were excellent recommend meals and advising us not to order more than three rice and two breads which was plenty due to size of serving.
Not happy as its a bit far to travel as we're two hours from this very special Indian restaurant, next time in York will be going there again.
I love the variety of South Indian food that the restaurant offers. The quality of the food is amazing!! A must try place in the town if your are visiting here:) the service was very professional and the staff is very welcoming and friendly!!

Genuinely faultless dining experience - amazing flavours and fine dining presentation made our table for 6 experience one to remember. Thereβs a magician or two in that kitchen. Real vegetarian options, new and varied meat and fish dishes and a decent bar all contributed to an excellent evening improved further by knowledgeable and attentive staff.
Ignore the outside of the premises (which does it no favours) - the inside is classy, grown up, spacious and welcoming. Worth the 10 minute walk from the York city centre.
If you think you tried them all this is a big step up from the usual. Highly recommended and we will definitely be back with others to spread the word!
Tasty food. Friendly and accommodating staffs. Stylish interior. Plenty of street parking in the surrounding neighbourhood.
