It was my first time coming to York and our first stop was at Mannion & Co for brunch- and it was beyond my expectation. The food was realllllyyy good 🤌🏻
My friend and I ordered the Egg Benny and Beef Brisket sandwich as recommended by one of the friendliest staff/server there! As I’m more of visual person when it comes to deciding food, we were looking at their instagram page for references and the staff was literally going through pictures with us and helped us decide what to get. It’s cozy inside, cute, food was so so good-
i highly recommend! Really wanted to try their basque cheesecake next time :)
Thank you so much for your kindness and good food!
Amazing sandwiches 🥪 nice people and atmosphere ✨we had beef brisket sandwiches and side salad, all delicious, the best sandwich I’ve ever had. I’m only thinking the others I didn’t eat. Definitely will visit again soon. Maybe my only complaint is that the americanos were not really good but I didn’t care it at all. Food was the best!! 😍
Just top class. Felt like 5* lunch menu. Very attentive chef to quality of food preparation & presentation. Clearly much effort is spent on preparing all baked goods. While it was very busy mid day, we had to wait 10 -15 mins for table, but it was worth it. Made it a great day out in York.
This was my second time coming to this fantastic restaurant.
This is the Big Breakfast that I had in the image
Food made to order and best of all you can watch the chef cooking your meal in the same room 😄
Perfectly Presented too
The staff are amazing and very friendly ☺️ to keep you coming back.
From the lovely warm greeting when we stepped in the door everything about our visiting here was amazing.
We both had the eggs Benedict which was the best ever on a cold and sunny October lunchtime we sat out in the courtyard. I could have eaten everything on the menu. Shame I don’t live in York as I’d be here every week. Yum.
Our initial experience of being told we could only order lunch (not just cake and coffee) due to the fact that they wanted to maximise their earning potential was not what I would call a good experience. I presume when the restaurant is less busy, it’s OK to order whatever you like without as they are happy for any business.
Perhaps put a sign outside stating their is a minimum order during peak times because this is exactly what your are insinuating.
We arrived with our overseas visitors after singing the restaurant’s praises. As tables were limited we had to sit at 2 separate tables which was absolutely no problem. However, told me told that one of the adults had to sit with the children was an absolute joke. Never ever have I experienced this. Totally took away from the experience of enjoying a meal with our friends whom we had not seen for a few years. The only reason we stayed was not to cause to much of a fuss due to our guests.
Their saving grace as always is the food.
Their was a mix up with the bill at the end which without the first couple of discrepancies would have not been an issue.
I will not be returning despite of how good the food is.
I think this is the best brunch spot in York. There are other good options nearby, but the food here is a level above.
The options are classics, but with a twist (eggs Benedict with truffle and brown butter hollandaise, for example). The portion sizes are decent, definitely leaving the table full. Ingredients local and high quality. We had no qualms at all.
The coffee was nice also, and we finished with a brownie. I’d tried the one in Helmsley, and this one was just as nice - among the best I’ve had.
100% recommended - a must visit.
This place is very good I would definitely recommend it to anyone wanting to do brunch. Coming in I wasn't sure about how the food was going to be but I was very pleasantly surprised. The salmon on toast with guacamole and scrambled eggs was brilliant and disappeared before my eyes rather quickly. I also got to try the turkish eggs with pita bread and can safely say those were amazingly prepared as well. The coffee was also very good, I personally recommend the Iced latte. I will be coming back again.
I opted for this venue for my final lunch in York based on the queue for a table, which I happily joined.
As soon as a table was available, I was shown through to the back of the Bistro. There's a drinks menu, and the food available for the day is located on the chalkboards around the venue.
The gentleman managing the Bistro was doing a fantastic job. He had a lovely way with all the waiting customers, was clearing tables, and to be fair doing any other job required whilst it was busy.
Items came off the menu temporarily throughout my visiting whilst more was being freshly prepared.
I opted for Earl Grey tea, smoked bacon and Cumberland sausage sandwich on brown, and chocolate orange cake.
The waiting staff were polite, friendly, and super helpful.
Family friendly including the dog. Facilities were clean and well kept, there were steps down and back up to the toilet.
Another place that's definitely worth queuing for.
Busy little cafe that changes to restaurant of an evening, my go to is the bits and bobs and Parmesan fries, so good and delicious.
