So it's changed hands since we last visited and the new stripped down interior (why is grey the colour of the moment) is still welcoming if a little stark. whether its for a warming tea and cake, a light lunch, or a specWe had a light lunch from the reduced menu, which was fresh made and still good. The staff were super friendly and were in discussion with some Tourists to give pointers on where to go locally and elsewhere in the UK. The toilet is in the base of the turret and has a precipitous climb up and down. But don't be put off and seek this place out.

Really amazing place, from the outside its just a small cafe you can easily walk past, however the new management have done a lovely job of improving the internal feel of the place along with the external garden where you can sit out in the summer sunshine and enjoy some of the amazing gin and tonics. The service is warm and friendly, you won't be disappointed you stopped and tried the food and drink.

Recently thought I'd pay this little place a visit as it has just recently re-opened and under new management. Had a fantastic experience! The new owners were so friendly and couldn't do enough for us! They have really brought a touch of cool to the place and the atmosphere was warm and friendly--a perfect place to meet up with friends or celebrate a birthday etc due to the unique and quirky nature of the building. There was also an extensive menu of both food and drinks, all top quality and so much more than you would expect from a cafe. Thank you for making my visit so pleasant, I will definitely be returning and have recommended you to several family and friends! Great job on your first weekend opening! I can't wait to see what this fabulous little place will do in the future!

Called to Circles this morning for the fab Chorizo and beans on malted bloomer toast. Was just delicious. My husband had bacon and beans on toast and coupled with the excellent coffee we were really impressed. The quality of the food served was superb and in such a quirky quaint little cafe on the bridge. Owner is friendly and lovely. Definitely will call again.

York has a new haven! A beautifully situated cafe by the bridge! New management has done amazing touch in the place. Enjoyed the lovely coffee and a slice of moist chocolate cake on a sun-kissed spring day! I love the ambience of calmness and enjoyment! Will definitely come back!!

5 Star ⭐️ I recently used Circles for my afternoon on Sunday, they offered fantastic customer service throughout my experience, have various services on offer and are amazing value for money. Also found out that the business is under new management and I must say their are doing an exquisite job Hands down I believe the best Gin bar/Cafe I’ve ever visited in York. Would definitely recommend to anyone who wants a panini and cup of tea or a alcoholic beverage to relax with in the beer garden ,Even if you just fancy a piece of cake to go. Will definitely be visiting more often when down in York in the future 👍

Karl and his wife offered a really personal service. We booked out the cafe over a Saturday lunchtime privately for 17 people as part of a hen do. It enabled us to have some private space to play a few games. All the group commented how great it was to have the space and it really was an enjoyable part of the hen for us.

Lovely quirky little place with friendly staff. The food is freshly made and they have really yummy cakes. A far nicer experience than visiting a chain and definitely well worth a visit!
