From the moment we arrived we were amazed at the place. The hospitality was second to none. We arrived way before the nominated check in and were immediately shown to our room.
The room was spotlessly clean, large and well appointed. Plenty of tea/coffee, large fluffy towels and one of the most comfortable beds I’ve every slept in. Our every need was thought of.
The pub was brilliant - a huge selection of beers and for the gin lover a great number of different flavours for you to try (including homemade damson and sloe gin). A roaring log fire and super friendly locals all added to the experience.
Our breakfast was delicious: fruit, yogurt, cereals, juices, copious amounts of tea and coffee, toast and a full English (all locally sourced ingredients).
The hosts could not have been more accommodating, always ensuring that we had everything we needed. Never too busy for a chat or to offer recommendations of places to go or to eat.
Dining in was a joy too. Not a massive menu, but the chef always willing to accommodate special requests or fancies. Served to your table in front of the fire - perfect.
Last but not least the resident dogs were on hand for a fuss (as were many others in this super dog-friendly place)
Thank you for our perfect stay. We will definitely be returning!!!
We have visited this place on a number of occasions since moving to Somerset 18 months ago. Always good food and a great ambience. We took visiting friends their last night and they agreed with us great place great food and lovely atmosphere
We enjoyed our stay immensely. Spotless rooms, good food, friendly service. I would highly recommend it to any traveller winding their way through darkest Somerset.
Gorgeous pub & amazing food with brilliant service and lovely friendly staff. When I am back visiting this area I shall certainly return. 100% recommend it.
We stayed for one night whilst visiting relatives. It is a lovely bar with lovely staff and fantastic food and accommodation - especially love the breakfast! We will definitely be staying again.
Decided to book a night (8/10/16) at the H.arms to have a mini getaway with my significant other. Couple running it (and staff) were lovely and engaging. The pub is a fantastic beautiful old building which is (after a recent touch up/resurrection) looking amazing. The food we had was superb (duck for me, steak for my SO), absolutely succulent. Lovely breakfast as well (the bacon in particular was exceptional). All in all, couldn't recommend higher, and we will be back!
Fantastic Mothers Day meal, lovely atmosphere felt incredibly welcome and the food was to die for

Amazing food at this newly renovated country pub. Very welcoming!
Always a warm welcome and great beer/fabulous food ! Thumbs up
Friendly welcome . Especially helpful (I am disabled). Nothing too much trouble. Gorgeous room, excellent breakfast. Felt good to be there
Lovely pub and hotel, beautiful beer garden with a closing gate that you can use to pen the kids in with, including kiddie tables. Because we were staying the hotel called up to see if we needed a table holding for the evening - good thing they did as the place was very busy with diners in the evening. Lovely menu, fresh game on while we were there. Our baby monitor (nothing fancy) worked from the room to the restaurant and bar area. The cot provided was excellent. Breakfast was excellent. All round a very pleasant stay - will be returning!
Beautiful village very popular pub, wonderful food fantastic and helpful staff. Dont forget the breakfast if you stay as it is delicious, lots of country lanes to the village delighted on arrival to the thatched houses all around the pub in beautiful hamstone .
A wonderful UK village experience in a great location. Everything was great, from the staff professionalism and friendliness, location and setting, internal layout of bar, restaurant and relaxing lounge area, to the superb menu and dinner and full breakfast. Would definitely stay here again (from Australia)
How do I give this lovely place the exceptional review it deserves without making it more difficult to get a table in the future.
From the friendly and helpful staff for whom nothing was to much trouble, the superb food which was cooked to perfection and very well presented, to the variety of well kept beverages that were on offer. All at reasonable prices for the quality and atmosphere.
Recommended to us by my sister for an anniversary lunch.
Will certainly return on a regular basis.
Very popular largely due to the excellent service and atmosphere. Not eaten other than the fantastic value Pizza but the drinks are spot on and served cold if required.
Great stay here, rooms clean and quiet location. Good beer and food.
This was an absolute find in a beautiful little village thoroughly enjoyed our stay great food staff and atmosphere would definitely visit again.
A very charming village pub with a great atmosphere. Large beer garden for those summer days or a cosy area in the pub with comfortable sofas.

Great pub, lots of history. Good range of beers. Nice restaurant; very special breakfast. 👍😀
We just had our works Christmas Lunch at The Helyar Arms today. What a beautiful pub. All the staff were lovely and friendly and very helpful. The food was lovely and hot and very tasty. The menu had so much choice, everyone found something they liked. They wasn't disappointed either. We will definitely eat here again. I might bring the family next time 😁
Menu was very clear and offered a lot of choice, the food was delicious, and the staff were kind and very helpful. It's definitely worth booking by telephone.
Lovely food. I live in France and this is the 2nd time in 2 years I've eaten at this restaurant. Really impressed by the varied, interesting menu. Good sized portions, efficient, pleasant staff.
I highly recommend this place.
Fantastic place with wonderful food and lovely staff.
We didn't stay overnight so can't comment on that.
This pub has welcoming staff and a good ambience. There are several seating areas, plenty of parking spaces, and the menu looks good, although we have not yet tried the food.
Beautiful pub and garden. Popped in for a quick beer and bite to eat. Will be back again soon.
Lovely couple of nights would have preferred a wider menu than burgers and pizza on Sunday night but we managed
We hadn't booked a table for lunch, but they found us a table even though they had a large party of 28 people coming in for lunch. The service was very attentive and the food was delicious. Would recommend the Helyar Arms to anyone who wants a real pub experience. The log burner was very welcome on a cold, damp winter's day.
Friendly attentive staff - fabulous menu - great food! Recommended!!
Excellent service. Food is excellent and certainly a notch above simple pub grub. Rooms are quaint and refreshed at the same time. A fine place to base yourself in rural Somerset.
Recommend booking a table as it’s justifiably a very popular lunch and dinner destination.
