Congratulations on your truly magnificent new farm shop and cafe. We have just enjoyed the most wonderful lunch of avocado, salmon and poached egg on sourdough toast and can't wait to return to try all the other delicious offerings on the menu. Your platters looked amazing, so we will certainly be giving those a try next time. The decor is classy, yet comfortable and the views are truly spectacular. We were even lucky enough to catch a rainbow whilst enjoying the beautiful surrounding countryside. A perfect lunch and we really can't recommend The Trough highly enough. You simply must try this place for yourselves!

We went for a brunch today and we all thought the food was very tasty! Slightly disappointed as not much as a way of a farm shop yet, although we still give 5* as lovely cafe and food. We will be back when food in the shop in April/May.

Huge thank you to The Trough who made a carrot cake at such short notice for my Partners 30th Birthday! It was absolutely beautiful and everyone loved it! The food, service and setting was lovely and I can’t fault this place. Would highly recommend. Will definitely be back, hopefully sooner rather than later.

What a beautiful place to sit and enjoy some delicious cake. The gluten free lemon cake was super tasty and moist, and the millionaires shortbread was perfectly gooey. I think we might become regulars :)

A friend and I came with our (older) children for brunch on Mother's Day and we all thought it was wonderful! The Trough is in the most idyllic spot with amazing views and a fabulous atmosphere. We had the sourdough with avocado, bacon and poached egg and the children had variations of the pancakes: all were divine! We were disappointed to overhear someone complaining about the slow service. As they point out, everything is cooked from scratch and it also happened to be Mother's Day i.e. surely one of the busiest days of the year? If you want instant service go to McDonalds. If you want to go with friends to enjoy some delicious food in relaxed surroundings and you're not in a tearing hurry then I can't recommend The Trough more highly.

On a cold snowy morning when a red weather warning was declared and we had no bread in the house (poor planning I know!), The Trough was our saviour. They had Facebook updated so we knew it was open. A short walk down the hill to a very warm fire and an even warmer welcome. After a yummy breakfast in fabulous surroundings, I was hoping we’d get snowed in so we’d HAVE to stay for lunch too, we were treated to a complimentary mulled wine to ensure we were super toasty. Such a fab little gem hidden away and definitely somewhere we’ll be visiting more often.

Visited for drinks and desserts mid dog walk. Dogs welcome outside. Desserts and coffee were tasty. Very friendly and polite staff. Lovely decor and nice aesthetics to the place. Inside had comfy seating, clean toilets and a little shop where we bought a couple of mugs. Plenty of free parking for drivers.

Beautiful restaurant with an idyllic view and tranquil atmosphere. Very different from what you normally find around Yeovil. The decor is warm and elegant, seats comfy and the whole setting is airy and light. Huge windows overlook an open field, and seating outside is possible too. The staff was attentive and thoughtful, they also asked how I liked my fried eggs, which is unfortunately so rare in the area. The food was expertly prepared and presented, the hollandaise sauce the best I tried in a long time. Eggs just as we asked. We thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast at the Trough and highly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for great quality, fantastic ambiance and something more special than what you'd normally find around Yeovil. A hidden gem.

Went here to celebrate my husbands birthday with our daughter who lives away. Didn't book. Staff very welcoming. Lovely lunchtime menu. Two of our party had Katys Club Sandwich and I had beef burger. Had a portion of dirty fries which had a topping of cheese, bacon and spring onions on them. Will be going back again. Lovely setting looking out at Longhorn cattle.

Menu has good options and to top it off the location is stunning. Cannot fault The Trough. Parking and accessibility is also very good for disabled customers.

UPDATE: 01/06/2023 Still enjoy coming here. Service was a little slower than usual but it's a lovely place and so, time passes easily. Food is always great; I had the Trough Burger and whilst it was really tasty and thoroughly enjoyable, i found the patty to be quite dense in texture and so, a little difficult to chew. My wife had the Tartiflette and again, superb meal but just needed to be that little bit warmer (not enough to comment to the staff because she was hungry enough to just get on and eat). Anyway, overall, lovely food, lovely surroundings, especially so when the weather is warm and you can enjoy the views. Always a pleasant surprise when we visit the Trough. The amount of effort these guys put into everything they do, is really impressive. This occasion was for their first offering of a pumpkin picking experience and it was so well organised. Well laid out across the field, plenty of size choices, straw over the foot ways (to prevent a mud bath) and a well put-together marquee with picnic tables, so we could sit and drink a lovely hot coffee. The hotdogs were great and burgers were nothing short of gourmet restaurant taste. Amazing. Looking forward to many more visits to the restaurant with the family. Great stuff guys.

Now this place is a bit special.....my daughters and son-in-law brought me here for Fathers Day lunch and I was very very impressed! The whole experience from start to finish was spot-on, they could not have done more. The meal was delicious, I am aware of previous less than glowing reviews, but I'm given to plain speaking and I loved it, all of it. There's extra outside seating and even a coffee lounge away from the main restaurant where you can relax and digest a glorious meal while others can delight in their wares!! An experience I'm keen to repeat very soon, while it's not inexpensive it really is a case of you get what you pay for!! And the staff are worthy of mention too, really pleasant and a credit to the business.

Had lunch. It was quite busy and very loud. We were warned that there might be a wait - but it wasn't very long in the end. Club sandwiches very good value. Bacon bap was OK, nothing special. Coffee was very good which means I would definitely go back!

We went to The Trough for Sunday lunch and were very pleased with the very up to date restaurant and the quality of the food and pleasantness of the service. The restaurant which is placed at the entrance to the farm has a wonderful view over the Somerset countryside.
