Just popped in for a Sunday lunch whilst travelling by. So pleased to see that food is served until 4pm and very dog friendly. Had an excellent, home cooked from scratch roast. Lovely. Pop in.

Feb.2022 - Once again I meet up with retired publicans - those with the discerning tastes and an assiduous attitude to where and when they dine and sup. We three are all of a like mind, requiring perfect pints, salubrious viands and an engaging atmosphere. Invariably, I choose an establishment on the Cask Marque Ale Trail, knowing at least one element of our fastidious requirements will be met. The Inn is a traditional 16th century Somerset 'coaching inn' with inglenooks, log fires, slate floors low ceilings and oak beams aplenty. Probably, internally, it hasn't changed much from the original, being haphazard in layout. The beer, Palmers Copper 3.7% ABV, from Palmers Ales Bridport, is brewed in one of Britain’s oldest breweries and has been since 1794. The only thatched brewery in the UK, and the ale was excellent and well deserving the Certificate of Accreditation. Our lunches also received no complaints other than the size of the portions received by my guests. With apologies to the chef they left their plates only partly depleted. My Steak & Ale pie, was also of generous proportions and also excellently presented and I could have stopped eating - but it was too good to leave. OK- call me a glutton. The only downside of the visit and it wasn't really the fault of the establishment, but it did impact on our stay, the tiresome noisiness of a toddler at the next table - it made comfortable conversation very difficult. We were however, all impressed with the place on our first visit and will do so again. But be warned - if you want to have a 'sit' ith the Gents loo - it's best if you have very short legs. Just saying.

A great lunch stop along the A30 between Yeovil and Crewkerne. Lovely seafood starter and a good menu of main courses at reasonable prices. Friendly staff and a good range of beers.

Such a great pub. The hunter’s platter (on the photo ) was really tasty, a lot of food on the plate if you feeling hungry. The Asian platter looked good as well. They also serve the best beers from Bridport a selection from Palmers brewery. Definitely recommending this great pub In West Coker.

To be honest, the food was actually really nice. The calamari and prawns were good and so was bread mezze starter. However, you might be in for a nasty shock if you order the garlic mushrooms. These oversized fungi come out tasteless, grilled and where they lack in cream and garlic they make up in a large pool of dark sloggy water at the bottom of the bowl. Apart from that, great food.

Went this evening Had the pork belly and my mother had the chicken and ham pie. Pork Belly was absolutely fantastic probably the best I've ever had and the Amstel was good to. My mother loved the food also and couldn't fault the pie. Her partner had the ham egg and chips and was also very impressed. Staff were amazing as usual and the atmosphere was also the perfect balance. Highly recommend coming here

We visited on a Saturday evening for a meal. The service by the friendly staff was excellent and all the food was great. Very tasty, well presented and good portions, including the usual children's menu options. Our kids were quite noisy as a bit over excited after a long time in the car, but we never felt like we were receiving any disapproving looks from staff or other customers, which also really helps our enjoyment. Would definitely recommend and return if in the area again.

Lovely location, very attentive staff*, massive portions (had the Piggy Platter that contains, among pork delights actual Pork Scratchings! Son's burger was like a sky scraper). * Was very impressed that they asked, on the phone when booking and again when taking order, whether anyone in party had specific allergens. Then they served a wonderful dessert that consisted of dairy-free ice cream and milk-free sticky toffee pudding. This pub serves Amstil and Bier Moreti - even better! Soup was a little strange but tasty - just was more of a thick paste rather than the nice watery texture I'm used to... but overall I'd recommend this place and my family were very happy. There's a large car park round the back, just as weĺl because this pub is on a main road through a (delightful) village just 3 miles outside of Yeovil.
