Rose and Crown is lovely pub with great food and such lovely staff. It was our first time visiting here tonight and I'd definatley recommend it and come again. Thankyou π
Unbelievable. I stayed on a Sunday night while working away. The food was great, and the rooms were incredibly comfortable and made to a very high standard. The manager who served me throughout was friendly, relaxed, and accommodating.
Would highly recommend.
Went there for an evening meal after a very long drive from norwich
Have to say the welcome and friendly staff greeted us with a smile and very helpful attitude
The food was first class
Tasted and looked fantastic from starter to main course and irish coffees to finish off a perfect meal
Wow!
Just returned from a birthday lunch for my Mum with my husband. It's always difficult booking lunch at this time of year when venues are so busy with Christmas!
All I can say is the food , the ambience, the attentive staff, the wine, everything was a delight! We all enjoyed it tremendously! The quality and presentation of the food was exemplary!
Many thanks for a very satisfying birthday meal of surprising fabulous quality!
Beautiful place, had the king prawns and monkfish curry which was one of the best meals I've ever had so tasty!
Exceptionally good food, especially the liver.
The staff are great too.
Had our first meal at The Rose & Crown this afternoon, impromptu family gathering & it was superb!
Delicious first class food & service, they even made it special for mum's birthday which later in the week.
Highly recommend & we will be regulars. Lovely kids menu & nothing too much trouble, thank you! π
We are staying locally for a holiday and was recommended to try here. So glad we did! The staff were welcoming, polite and friendly. The service was prompt and the food was absolutely delicious! I had the fish and chips with mushy peas, which I've never had before, but it was very tasty. My husband really enjoyed the burger too and we both loved the yummy desserts of sticky toffee pudding and the warm chocolate brownie!
I highly recommend this place.
Stayed here for a couple nights for work. Very quick and easy check in, staff show you to your room.
Clean and nicely done building, amazing bed, hot shower, great selection of coffees and biscuits in the room with water.
Food in the the pub is incredible, and the Sirloin steak and fish and chips. Great selection of beers, log fire which is a great bonus.
Delicious breakfast with a vast selection of continental or cooked.
Staff all around have been amazing.
Definitely be back!
Went for a meal with family and everyone was catered for with a good selection of tasty veggie and vegan options available.
I had the fish and chips with mushie peas, and it was really good. The fish had gorgeous crispy batter, whilst the fish was still succulent. The chips were some of the best I've had; I'm not sure if they were double or triple cooked, but they were fantasticly crunchy whilst being fluffy and delicious on the inside. I'm not usually fussed on having loads of chips, but I couldn't stop eating these! π
For desert I had sticky toffee pudding with a double espresso. Albeit very sweet, it was quite pleasant, so no complaints here.
My small nephew had suitable kid food options and seemed quite happy with his meal, and trying everyone else's to boot π
also very much enjoyed his colouring and napkin entertainment.
Service was helpful and attentive. One of our drinks was messed up by bar staff, but we returned it and it was taken off the bill no problem. Food was a little on the pricey side, but nothing too extreme, and was balanced out by good sized portions :)
All in all was an enjoyable and easy meal out. Would recommend!
I stayed here as I was doing a course nearby and it was perfect, better than I expected. The room was lovely, spotlessly clean, very comfortable and warm, nice extras provided like teas and biscuits the toiletries were lovely quality and plentiful of them. The staff were super friendly and helpful. The food was delicious, my only comment would be perhaps a bit to salty but then that can be down to taste. But it was lovely place to stay, eat, have a drink.
If need to stay up that way again I will be booking again.
Had a lovely stay here for 1 night for our Anniversary. The room was lovely and big with added touches like hot chocolate biscuits and lovely toiletries. Lovely comfy king bed and super fluffy towels.
The meal was great as they have had a shortage of chefs, Sunday 4th Sept was the first day they have done a menu up until then they have only had a pizza menu.
Breakfast was also great plenty of choice continental or there is a hot menu which was a varied choice.
We all enjoyed fantastic Sunday lunch. Very good food, nice atmosphere, dog friendly. Really attentive staff. Best pub mea we have had in a long time. Would definitely recommend, and we will be back again another time too.
We had steak which was delicious and our little boy had southern fried chicken goujons rice and peas. The food was awesome which was especially nice because often children's menus are not very tasty. Little bit disappointed that the waitress wasn't on the ball, but overall it was a lovely evening.
Last night we decided to go out for food with our kids Rose and Crown in yealmpton is where we decided to go based on its reputation. They had room to take us in, our table was in a nice out of the way location which suited us we both had burgers which were so big and tasty too very nice our kids had sausages, a descent size for our lot too. Also loved the fact that the chef asked us if we wanted the kids food first as we wasn't asked this by our waitress, we declined as we wanted to eat together but we knew he understands his guests and their needs thankyou for looking after us.We will tell all to come here
Fantastic place!!!
Service was incredible, our waiter Ryan was lovely, polite and funny.
Absolute pleasure to visit and would definitely recommend
We had another lovely meal at the Rose & Crown last night. Food/service were very good. Our dog was also welcomed.
We did however miss the little Liverpudlian lady ... Saturday must be her night off.
Really lovely pub with a big welcoming bar as itβs main focus when you walk in. We had a a really good glass of red on the leather sofas. We stayed the night in a comfy and what felt like freshly refurbished room and then had the best breakfast. Itβs all about the breakfast so I was very happy indeed! The rooms are in a different building than the pub so it was nice and quiet.
We had another tasty Sunday lunch yesterday. Such a warm welcome from everyone. Its great to see happy staff. The food was yummy, great big portions on hot food. Thankyou again x

We stayed in this beautiful inn and tried wine in this pub. We arrived a little late around 9pm for check in, but they were kind enough to call us and check if there is anything wrong.
The room we stayed was very clean and nice. The only issue with the room was they turned off the heater around midnight, so it went very cold. Luckily the blanket was very warm otherwise it would have been very difficult to stay indoor.
They also had free parking which was amazing.
The pub was very nice, clean. They also served breakfast as well but from 7am to 10am which we were late for it.
Yes, we would come back to this place, but hopefully they read this review and fix the heating issue otherwise we would have to come back on summer time.
