Reviews The Bell Inn

The Bell Inn is a fantastic pub to stop by after or before a visit to Castle Combe. I can't even begin to express how grateful we were to this pub. We were stuck in traffic longer than we expected that day and needed a place to eat. We were exhausted, annoyed and hungry. They took us in even though we had no dinner reservations for a Friday evening. The front Lady was so kind, mindful and patient. The table we sat at was perfect, in a quiet area of the pub but we could still see the hustle and bustle. Now, the food was a whole experience in itself. We ordered the Chicken Paris and the Steak and Ale Pie. First of all, it was delicious! One plate is a lot of food (no complaints here) as it comes with either salad or vegetables and you can choose one out of 3 options of potato side dishes. Starting with the Pie: I have never seen a puff pastry so high, flaky and tasty in my whole life. Even after a couple of bites, the pastry was standing high up. The steak was prepared with a bitter ale which complemented the buttery taste of the pastry. An absolute pleasure to eat. The chicken had this sauce that we had never tasted in our lives. We drenched every potato and vegetable in this sauce because it was an experience. There was not a single drop left of the sauce after we ate. The bacon was crunchy and the chicken was moist. The potatoes were super tasty and vegetables were steamed to perfection: not mushy while holding some crunchiness. When we paid our bill, the front lady was once again very welcoming and we can't thank the servers, cooks and her enough for their hospitality and outstanding service to us: a Californian couple very far from home. We would not drive back to see Castle Combe, but we would take a 10 hour flight and a drive to the Cotswolds just to eat here again.

Friendly professional service, warm atmosphere and authentic tasty food. Never have I been as satisfied by a Chicken Marsala as I was tonight. My dining companion also loved his liver and bacon dish. I would highly recommend this as a food and drink stop. 5/5. Thanks so much for an awesome experience.

Must visit place if you come nearby. All member of staffs are friendly. Foods was amazing. 🥳 Do not go Castle Combe village pubs. The bell Inn is just drive 5min away. Worth to spend this 5mins. Trust me. Actually we tried to find the seat from two pubs in the village. Sadly, one of the place in the village didn't have a seat. Didn’t welcoming us(9of us including 5kids😅 I understand that the restaurant does not welcome families with young children.) and the other place came out because it was too unfriendly. Thank you god! therefore I accidentally found The Bell Inn. When I found seat in the bell inn then I checked that first two pubs reviews. Then I realised that was lucky for me to left😂 For your information, No mibile phone signal reception in the Castle Comb Village. So hard to get nearby restaurants information. Wow wow wow!! The Bell Inn ! Thank you!! 👏👏👏 Good foods, good service and finally Reasonable price bill came out at the end! I thought tips was included. But it wasn’t. I noticed it after leaving the place. Suddenly I felt I paid less than I supposed to. Now I leave a review to help your business growing🥰 Everyone, please come here. No regrets. My experience guarantees it. 👌 And this review will motivate them to keep working so well. 😉🙏👏

We love this pub, haven't been here for a few years due to situation, and family needs. It has not changed, amazing food and service. The portions are amazing just live this pub. Also have to say many veggie options and cater for vegans. Great atmosphere just as we remember it. My mum and dad lived this pub and it's great food food. We will be back. Lovely friendly staff. A must to visit

Sunday roast very tasty. Cauliflower and vegetables as sides. Tatchers hase, pearl cider. Fruit crumble too sour, mainly rhubarb, tasty with ice cream. Chocolate brownies amazing. Staff… awesome. So nice and friendly. Worth to visit again.

Good pub food. However, why do they insist on bringing chips out in a bowl to share with my dining companion? I don't want to share food. Especially when it's a really small portion. I don't understand as it's probably the cheapest item in the meals.

We arrived just after they opened (5:00) p.m., but before they start serving food (5:30). Even so, the lady took our orders as soon as we were ready and the food came at 5:40. I asked for small portions because I know from previous visits that they give VERY generous portions. I had cod mornay with chips and carrots. It was all delicious but I couldn't finish it. Even small portions defeated me. My husband had something from the light bites section of the menu. It looked like a lot of food to me. So quantity; tick, quality; tick, what about price? We got all that and two pints of diet cola for less than £30. What's not to like? BTW, they are reasonably accessible and dog friendly.

Super helpful people and great pub which I only ended up at because of a breakdown. They even allowed me to put an order in a little after the kitchen closed because I was waiting for the AA. The food was great and obviously it’s a well rated pub by the locals with a great outdoor space. They then went above and beyond to help and I would highly recommend stopping off there especially if you’re on your way to or from Castle Coombe Circuit.

Fantastic Sunday lunch really couldn't fault a thing and staff and service were first class - booking advised ( certainly on a Sunday) as its very popular and you can see why.

Fabulous pub. Very friendly and helpful. Food delicious. I had jacket potato with cheese and beans which also came with a salad, my husband had a ploughmans lunch. Both presented very well and was good value for money. Lovely atmosphere. Definitely will visit again when in the area.

We called in on the off chance of them having a table for lunch today and we were lucky enough for them to fit us in and we so wasn’t disappointed. Lovely warm welcome from staff, shown us our table and straightaway took our drinks order . Our food order was taken quickly and didn’t wait long for our starter to arrive and so on main course. Food looked lovely and tasted great, lovely big portions. We will definitely return and high recommend

Had a lovely dinner on a Sunday evening. We came in a bit late but they managed to squeeze us in before the kitchen closed. Our host was absolutely lovely and she took great care of us. The Sunday roast was honestly amazing. The roasts, cod, Yorkshire puddings, and especially the cheesy cauliflower were delicious. We left absolutely stuffed and content Will definitely come back here if I'm in the area.
