Just had a lovely 2 night Getaway. Staff were very welcoming. Room was very clean and comfortable. It was one of their smaller rooms but that was no issue to myself and my husband as it was in one of the quieter parts of the hotel which meant we avoided hearing the road traffic. The food was amazing. We had evening meals both nights and breakfast both mornings and the food was hot down to every last bite. Will definitely go back for another stay.

We couldn't fault the Downe Arms We had our wedding here and it was the most magical experience. We couldn't have asked for a better day. Everyone involved manager, wedding coordinator waiting and bar star were the best and ever so accommodating, nothing was too much. The food was amazing and something that everyone complimented. If I could do everything again I wouldn't change a thing. Me and my husband are looking forward to our voucher for afternoon tea that was given as a Christmas present! It really was a day to remember

Stayed here overnight for a works function. Very warm welcome and made to feel at home. The food was absolutely superb and a great night of dancing and entertainment. Proper Yorkshire breakfast next morning. Top tip; if you’re attending a Xmas function here, take advantage of discounted room rate which includes full English breakfast.

Stayed at the downe arms for a getaway in between Christmas and New year. The hotel has a lot of character and has a welcoming feel. The location is idyllic, our room was in the second floor with countryside views to the front. The room was lovely and clean and had everything you need, it had twin beds pushed together, would have been better to have a double bed but not too much of an issue. Looking at other reviews would of liked to have an evening meal but there's always another time. The breakfast was very good, the only downside was that everything was cleared away just after 9.30 so we weren't able to have toast and juice with our breakfast. Make sure not to use the back door when coming back on an evening! Overall very good value for money and would visit again.

Sunday lunch was the best i think I have ever had . The beef was like eating prime steak, melted in your mouth, not a hint of grizzle, toughness, or anything, im a picky veg eater but couldn't fault any on offer and all 3 forms of potato, fantastic. But off course, to make it perfect, the gravy had to complement the food and wow it delivered, Paddy Mcguinness would have wet his pants No doubt whatsoever we will be booking again

My partner and I stayed at the Downe Arms for two nights, from start to finish the whole team was incredible. We were greeted well and the check in didn't take long. We had a lovely room that was very clean and modern. We chose to book a table for our evening meal and ended up with a three course meal with drinks, the day after we had afternoon tea followed by a breakfast the next morning, we thoroughly enjoyed each meal, the team was happy to cater for me as a vegetarian and I found that there were plenty to choose from, the service was fantastic and food looked and tasted great. The staff were polite and friendly and always available should we have needed anything throughout our stay. We thought the pricing was really good for the full package that we received. We definitely will be booking to stay again. 100% would definitely recommend. Thank you.

Good value stop as we were driving up the coast, room was cozy enough with good facilities, kettle in room, bar had good selection of beers and standard pub grub. Breakfast was pretty good, strong coffee from the machine, average buffet choice (would have been nice to have some fruit), and excellent cooked selection. Slightly dark in the dining area, could do with brightening up. Only negative I would say is the bed was slightly small double (we are average size) and the church bell goes off every hour, but thankfully stops at 11pm. Nearby Horcum Hole which was a good walk in the morning.

Very enjoyable break at The Downe Arms. Management and staff very friendly. Good food. Portions quite challenging. Decor and ambience in dining areas could be improved with better lighting, laid tables and comfortable chairs. Breakfast service baffled a few guests. A little staff training could help. Would definitely go back to The Downe Arms

We had the Downe Arms recommended to us so we went last Sunday for the Carvery. At £12-95 it was very reasonably priced. The chef took pride in the fact that he had slow cooked the beef for 13hrs!! And it showed. The food was piping hot and was cooked to perfection. The staff were very helpfull and friendly. We can't wait to go again. 10 out of 10 from one very happy customer!!
