The 10 of us arrived on Christmas Day 2017 greeted by the staff and made welcome and who could forget the inflated Santa and turkey, the meal was fantastic and yes was the best Christmas ever many thanks Roebuck

Stopped off for lunch on our way to Eastbourne. Food was lovely. My wife had the ham eggs chips and peas and I had the chilli and rice and tortilla chips. All for £12. Excellent value and delicious. Would highly recommend for lunch.

Brilliant stop on our way through England on our world trip all the way from Australia. What a find! Great hospitality, friendly staff and a spacious room. Delicious Sunday roast and all you could need for dinner and drinks. Thank you for everything on our short stay. Highly recommended!!

Excellent friendly service from the GK team. Food was served promptly and was delicious! Place is clean and tidy. Rooms could do with updating but it didn’t negatively impact our stay. Pillows could be a bit softer but again that is personal preference. Simply loved the shower- finally hot water AND pressure- so rare in many hotels! Thanks all

We had a nice experience at the Roebuck, 4 of our party had the Cajun chicken which was very nice and crispy. I had the passion fruit mocktail which was very reasonably priced (only about £2) and tasted good. The real star of the show was the strawberry shortcake cheesecake which was beautifully presented and tasted amazing! Again all food was really reasonably priced and great portions. The staff were attentive and polite. Chairs were comfortable and the atmosphere was good. We’d definitely return :) can’t say anything about the hotel part as we did not stay.

Nice, comfortable bed, although the pillows were a bit hard. All the rooms have showers over baths, so that's a bit of a clamber if you have leg problems. The meals were fine, although the menu became a bit familiar after a few days. All the staff were lovely and made our stay very enjoyable.

We had our daughters wedding here Saturday just gone. We all had a wonderful time. Karen and the team were amazing, thank you Karen for making sure the day went without any problems (we certainly didn't know of any if there were). A few of us stayed overnight and I didn't hear anyone complain. The food was amazing with large portions. The setting is lovely with plenty of parking with the overflow car park. The view from our room was lovely. The hotel rooms are quite tired and could do with sprucing up. But bedding and towels were clean and fresh. Outside area with seating is a little uneven with some broken flagstones. The function room was clean but as said before could do with decorating it's a bit dreary but with draping, fairy lights and decorations it really helped brighten the room. Thanks again to everyone at the Roebuck for a truly memorable day x

Mid-20th century tatty charm of rooms grafted onto the much earlier country inn part with the pub and restaurant. Enjoyed staying in the room: surprisingly comfortable despite the 101 on the door, shower drain a little blocked. Otherwise clean, nice beds, usual amenities: coffee, tea, kettle, TV, wardrobe, etc. Restaurant food good. A colleague absolutely loves the mac and cheese there. Lovely Wych Cross location right by a fine garden centre, in the heart of the Ashdown Forest with lively landscape and walks all around.

The food was lovely. The room smelt a bit odd, not sure if it was a cleaning product or some damp. Bed was comfy. Although it's on a road I never noticed all that much road noise.

The rooms have improved since the last time we were here however, a few improvements are still needed. 1. No plug for the wash basin & 2. No anti slip mat for the shower. Apparently they are available at reception but, when you are just about to step into the shower that is little comfort. The staff here cannot be faulted, they are attentive, polite and always smiling 5 stars ⭐️ plus.

Came to eat at Roebuck and so glad we did. Decided to eat in bar as less formal than restaurant. Food was excellent. Squid starter, halloumi and mains South East Asian curry and the cheddar and bacon burger. Food was amazing. Staff friendly. Ambience great. Will definitely return. Thanks team Roebuck!

We really enjoyed our stay here! We thought it was a little gem of a place- we were originally camping a few miles away but on our last night we decided to get a hotel as it was raining so badly and luckily we found this very reasonably priced pub/Lodge. It's quite an old fashioned traditional pub which I liked as it gave that sense of nostalgia. The bed was super comfy and had a decent, hot shower and a TV with freeview; we had a nice view of the gardens from our room also. The people working there were all very friendly and accommodating, particularly the chap in the bar in the evening. Very relaxed vibe and would stay again if ever in the area.
