Great Sunday dinner. Awesome home cooked taste. Good parking and lovely decor inside. Only got 4 stars as there could have been more food on the plate and was a little pricey for what you get. Despite this, a great place!

Proper chips!! We're currently staying here for a couple of nights and I can't fault it. All the staff are very polite and friendly, even to the point of having a young lady call "Good Morning" to me as she arrived in the carpark for her shift this morning. I don't remember ever being that smiley when arriving for work. The room is really nice with a lovely view... and the shower... let's just say that's nice too 😏 but the best thing about our visit... proper chips!! Not some horrible, cheap frozen things off the back of a catering lorry that briefly saw a deep fryer... I mean proper triple cooked, crispy chips with actual flavour! If more pubs made chips like this I would go out for dinner more often! Don't even get me started on the sauce on top of my lovely rib eye steak :) if we're ever in need of a hotel in the Somerset area again, I know where we'll be staying! PS. Message to the management, your staff are a credit to you!

Old rustic feeling pub finished off very well, it looks fantastic. Staff are polite and very helpful with any issue from one with your meal to phoning up to book a table. Facilities are kept extremely clean and they offer most types of seating whether that be the chair itself or where you are sitting

I attended a work party Saturday night, and I have to stay what a great evening. The food was good and more importantly the staff was amazing and very keen to help and support us. There was a couple that stood out to me, Tony & Benedict, I think the managers name was Harry, but the 2 gents was amazing (Thank you guys for all your help in getting us home) I would recommend this place anytime Thank you to you all :)

I cannot give enough praise to The Battleaxes! Me and my husband got married there last month and it was honestly perfect. Lotty, the wedding coordinator, is knowledgeable and professional. She was in close contact with us in the run up and there was no question too small that she answered punctually and clearly. Lotty is also extremely personable. She clearly makes a point of getting to know the couples who have decided to get married at The Battleaxes - we were delighted when she spent almost the whole day with us when we visited to taste the wedding menu and were totally reassured that there would be nothing for us to worry about on the day. As expected, the day itself went seamlessly and was amazing. The club room when prepared for the ceremony and wedding breakfast looked beautiful. The food exceeded all our expectations and a lot of the guests have commented on how great this was (one said she had the best brownie of her life :)). The best thing, however, was how fantastic all the staff working there were - smiley and helpful, and very patient with the guests who were quite lively! Our friends and family have commented on how relaxed the day felt and I think this is a result of the venue and all the staff. Also, we have visited and stayed at The Battleaxes on occasions other than our wedding and have found consistently the food to be great, the venue clean and the staff very lovely. So thank you to Lotty and her team who gave us the best start to married life :)

Cracking wedding venue. Lotty and her team were brilliant from the start of planning, in the stressful runup to the day and throughout the execution. The wedding package was great value, especially given the quality of food and wine they produced for 80-odd guests. Communication was clear throughout the planning process and we felt we were in safe hands. The inside space is beautiful and the garden space worked really nicely when folks wanted a break outside. The staff were excellent, too - highly recommended.

5 stars for the food, staff, and atmosphere. But only 2 stars for access. Sunday lunchtime roast - 2 X beef and 1 X cheese and mushroom pastie (ooops! sorry, meant Wellington!!), plus a haddock and chips, and a small plate garlic squid. We couldn't fault the roast meals, despite the fact that the veggie Wellington looked more like a pastie. The beef was succulent and plenty of it. The Wellington had a great texture and flavour. The accompanying veg was nicely presented and tasty, and thankfully not a pea or carrot in sight. The haddock was superb, but the chips "were not triple cooked" according to my mother-in-law. The squid arrived on a really small plate but proved to be plenty for my father-in-law, who has a small appetite. The food was very acceptable. The experience was only let down by the access. From the front main entrance there was a stone step followed by a very high tiled step that would have benefited from a hand rail. I asked if there was another, easier entrance but apparently the rear access has "about 20 steps" but there is also a ramp. All in all we had a good Sunday lunch. But 2 of our party are disabled so struggled with the entrance. Despite that, I would definitely recommend The Battleaxes.

The service was great especially considering we ate not long after a very busy Sunday afternoon. Our waiter Cam Labrum was very friendly and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal. The food was also delicious. Would 100% recommend and look forward to my next visit.
