A fantastic National Trust property on our doorstep.
Having visited many times over the years and seen various rooms closed for restoration and reopened- this property never fails to disappoint.
All the volunteers are extremely knowledgeable and keen to help you.
Love the new rose garden.

Attention!!!!! The last entry to the main house is 15:00! How could I miss this important information....mystery...
Anyway, we could still roam around and enjoy the beautiful kitchen garden. it was well maintained and we could see a lot of colourful fresh produce. There are picnic areas too!
One more thing about how to get there.
We noticed on the website mentioning taking bus X9 to the bottom gate is not recommended. We did change to X6 because of this warning, but we found out if you take X9 dropping off at the Lower Lodge is also possible with a proper footpath. (See pic)

Pretty standard national trust place, the gothic style (though not actually gothic building) was nice to see. Gardens were nice and the cafe had some good things in it
We felt the prices were very high. It cost £35 for two adults and we had to pay an extra £5 for parking as well!
The last time we went it only cost £22 so we won’t be back.
