Loved it! Booked through Agoda well in advance. Got rooms very good value. Staff really LOVELY here, helpful and very kind. My Hearing Dog absolutely LOVED this place! The grounds are fabulous! English breakfast was scrumptious. I'll definitely be back! Photos includes my Hearing Dog enjoying himself. The grounds really are wonderful. Taken on 20 April 2024
Just had Sunday lunch here and it was absolutely perfect. Managed every course and had the two roasts. The crackling on the pork was devine and the cauliflower cheese delicious. Nothing whatsoever to complain about, and what a beautiful room and setting. Retired after for an ice cold pint in the ornate bar. Must say a special thank you to our server Sophie. She was lovely and totally efficient. This establishment is lucky to have her in their employment. We will definitely return
I have stayed at Wortley Hall on a previous occasion, and loved it there. This occasion was even better, the room was superb, spacious, clean and with an amazing view over the lovely grounds. The room was warm, the water was hot and the staff were amazing. Breakfast was delicious, and the whole stay was really lovely, we had a great time. Thank you very much to Ellie and all the staff. We'll be back soon.
Just had afternoon tea here. Berni, was a fabulous member of staff, and nothing was too much trouble. The food and service was great and we will definitely come again. Location lovely.
Beautiful location in extensive grounds. Lovely to walk around the gardens and enjoy the local countryside. The hotel itself is steeped in the history of its original owners and its more recent role as a centre for worker education. We had a lovely meal in the wood panelled Fire Brigades Union bar and the other public areas looked stunning. Our room wasn't as luxurious as the public parts of the hotel, but it was clean and comfortable, and had everything we needed for a short break - and the view over the countryside was wonderful.
Beautiful setting, gorgeous building inside and out. Our room was lovely, clean and with a stunning view. All staff very pleasant and attentive. Price was an absolute bargain as it included the best breakfast selection ever. The only thing that would've made our stay even more perfect, was if the sun shined! Awful rain made it harder to appreciate the beauty but I can't hold the hall accountable for the weather!!
What can I say? We enjoyed every minute! Excellent value for money, lovely staff, gorgeous food and room very clean. There was everything we wanted. Room a little cold on arrival but soon warmed up using the little fan heater as well as the central heating. We were soon able to turn the fan heater off. Amazing breakfast, huge amount of choice for all appetites. Can't wait to come back! Excellent value for money, clean, friendly and very comfortable...what more would you want?
Staff were very helpful and attentive. Food was amazing, well stocked bar and a decent pub a short walk away. Grounds are nicely kept with a decent garden, walks leading from the Hall into the surrounding fields and the house itself was fun to explore.
We had a great Easter weekend here.
Breakfast perfect!
We met a very nice lady who is at the bar and at breakfast, unfortunately I didn't ask her name, Thank you for your kindness, we hope to see you again!
Had an amazing weekend staying here just on a whim, witnessed 2 lovely wedding receptions and despite it being busy due to said events all staff and facilities were great.
We originally planned to stay one night into Sunday but when the prospect of leaving came up over our delicious self service breakfast, we decided to stay an extra night and it was definitely worth it! The new attic rooms are beautiful if you can get them, not much of a view of course but there are plenty of views to be had outside on the grounds.
We ate at the halls Ruddy Duck restaurant both nights as the local pub was closed for renovations and it did not disappoint, the burgers, sea bass and haddock were all amazing.
10/10 will definitely be returning later in the year!
Fab afternoon teas at very fair prices. In the summer you can have it on the patio overlooking the grounds, they bring a Pimm's with the VIP afternoon tea and you have little ducklings waddling round the terrace. We will definitely be visiting in the summer. It's a great little place to have a treat.
On the 8th of February 2024.my father's wake was held at Wortley Hall. Having booked the forget me not buffet which had chunky chips and sandwiches scones etc and also we added sweet treats. We wanted biscuits to go with the tea and coffee.
The amount of guests was estimated to be 20.the amount of food would have allowed for anyone else who turned up. But as it was a snow day not everyone could attend. 16 did.
The food was very great value.. The service was excellent. The staff all worked hard and they must have been worried about getting home as the long driveway outside the hall can be difficult to negotiate in snow.
We took photo boards before the funeral (folding back ones off Amazon) which the staff put on a table (with tablecloths for us).
We had our wake in the Library which is perfect for wakes. Previously in 2021 we had my older brother's wake in the garden room. As we expected more people we opted for the library. I am glad we did. The staff had placed round tables in their with tablecloths. I think 5 or 6 each table could easily seat 6 people.
We could buy extra drinks from the bar if we wanted alcohol. 2 highchairs were provided for the babies who attended.
There is no question that we would choose anywhere else for future family wakes. It was a beautiful place and the staff are respectful my dad loved Wortley and it was fitting his wake should be there.
The snow added to the sheer beauty of the grounds. Looking out from the library, guests took photos as they admired the views.
The public need to be aware of the great service you provide fro wakes. It was perfect. Thank you 🙏
We have just returned from a two night break in between Christmas and New Year, and it was fantastic! The hall and gardens are impressive with some lovely walks nearby. The food was amazing (the chef rustled up a vegetarian meal and it was absolutely delicious) and the service was outstanding. We will be returning!
Stayed the weekend here for a family wedding and was very impressed. Great venue with a great atmosphere. Very polite, friendly professional staff. If we weren't already married we'd definitely be considering using this venue ourselves!
Thank you Wortley Hall for such a fantastic stay, I was greeted by a lady on reception who was very friendly helpful and knowledgeable.
The hotel is amazing my room was on the first floor you go up a magnificent staircase
I stayed in room 22 which overlook the front of the building. The room was clean and very comfortable, loved the shower very powerful. I normally struggle to sleep in hotels and this was one of the best night sleep I had in a long time.
The history of the hotel is very interesting and the way it helps the local community as well
Thank you Wortley hall for such a pleasant stay
Just had our wedding at Wortley Hall, what a beautiful setting for a winter wedding, the weather was awful outside but we got some beautiful pictures inside with all the grand features. The staff were very friendly and helpful, Claire the wedding coordinator ran our day so smoothly. The winter wedding packages are good value for money and our friends and family were really impressed with the gorgeous food. Fantastic party later, DJ has the dancefloor full all night. Would highly recommend a Wortley wedding
