We had a great Secret Seven ‘menu degustation’ with wine flight last night at the Dining Room. We loved the scallops with fennel purée and black pudding crumb, the pork which was cooked to perfection and especially the grey mullet with a farro risotto and roasted tomato emulsion. It was finished off with a clever combination of banana and miso for dessert, and cheese (there was another dessert choice). A tasty starter of leek and blue cheese tart and a refreshing rhubarb sorbet along the way completed the menu. All courses were superbly cooked and presented with great service and carefully chosen wines. A great meal of just the right proportions and with a happy willingness to adjust to some dietary requirements. This (very good value) restaurant is not to be missed! We’ll certainly be back as the menu changes each month.
My partner’s mother was visiting and as she had an upcoming birthday, we decided to treat her to a celebratory dinner. We chose the Dining Room as we thought it would have a sense of occasion, and we weren’t disappointed. We had a lovely evening – it was a Saturday night so we had the 7 course tasting menu, with matching wines, and the dishes were tasty, varied and nicely cooked. Rosanna did a good job of explaining the dishes but didn’t overdo it. The menu changes regularly so by the time you read this, it may well be different – but in order we had: mackerel with gooseberry sorbet, cheese & onion empanada, monkfish with tomatoes & peas, rosemary & lemon sorbet, lamb with hasselback potatoes and roasted veg, a pre-dessert of brandy snap with mandarin & strawberries, then there was a choice of chocolate brownie with salted caramel gelato or a cheeseboard. Really – the standard of cooking was high and compared well to other restaurants which attempt similar fine dining tasting menus. There was plenty of food and the 4 wines which accompanied the menu were great. The chef came out towards the end to sing for us – which I don’t believe usually happens on a Saturday – and this added to our enjoyment. The bill for three with wine & tip was £220 – and given the amount of food, quality of ingredients and hospitality, we thought it was good value for money. Recommended for special occasions.
Innovative tasty cuisine of a level hard to find locally, but at prices that make it easy to enjoy on a regular basis. The food was just superb (7 course tasting menu) and the matching wine flight was well chosen and interesting. Service was great too, and the evening was rounded off with the talents of Jean (aka The Singing Chef) who effortlessly entertained us after our meal with his superb voice. A good enough venue to compete with the best, but very relaxed and excellent value for money.

Had my first brunch today at The Dining Room, bubble and squeek, with poached egg and 🥓 bacon. Partner had the same with no bacon and a side of toast. Tea, coffee and two orange juices all for under £20. For freshly cooked food at this quality this is great value for money. Looking forward to trying other brunch items on the menu :)

First time for us with the small plates menu on Saturday and we LOVED it. Although two of my choices on the menu werent available, there was still plenty to choose from without feeling they were a second choice... Lovely ambience, fantastic service and the wine was spot on. Although we were first in it was great we weren't rushed (so had another bottle of wine ) and were the last to leave. Thank you, we will be back (as long as you get a bottle of Grand Marnier in )
Came here for a friends birthday meal, there was about 20 of us, which meant we had exclusive use. The food was lovely, lots of us had steak as a main, and each one cooked to perfection. The vegetarian curry was lovely as well. Service impeccable and to top it off a few songs from our chef. I will definitely be back to try the small plates menu.
Went to the ‘Test Kitchen’ menu that’s on the first Wednesday of every month, the food was great! 5 courses, really tasty. Highlights were the panacotta dessert and Apple ice cream sandwich (yup two desserts!), we will be going back for the full menu! recommended!
Fantastic place - great food & wine, and really friendly service....well worth a visit!!
Went to small plates evening with a friend and was not dissapointed. The food was exceptional cooked fresh and very tasty! We had a lovely bottle of prosecco and fantastic pudding each (best we had ever had) and the singing chef and welcoming vibe was fantastic! Will definitely return and try something else from the menu and will definitely look forward to it!
Excellent tasty wholesome homemade food. The pastry on the chicken and leek pie was perfect. I don't normally have pudding but tonight I really enjoyed the apple and homemade cinnamon ice-cream desert. Our first visit and we'll definitely be going again
We've been to the Dining Room several times now. On our own and with family and friends. Every time the food has been great and the atmosphere brilliant. We've tried the seven course tasting menu (with wine flight) - a good excuse to dress up. We've also been to the really fun quiz night and enjoyed the very affordable pie nights (twice). It's great to find such an innovative place and lovely hosts. Looking forward to trying out some of the other events in the near future.
Wonderful Test Kitchen last night. Great way to try new dishes that you might not try otherwise. Food was amazing, service brilliant & Johnathan singing at the end was an added treat & a perfect end to a fun evening. Highly recommend this event.
We have dined out at many top end restaurants But - The Dining Room - has got to top them all
Perfect and divine - Thank you
I had a birthday meal at The Dining Rooms with my wife and two friends recently and found everything perfect, the food was both imaginative and hot and my introduction to mullet a pleasant surprise. We found the staff very attentive and we were given time to enjoy our evening without feeling rushed, we will be back and hope to try more new dishes over the coming year. Steve Hobbs
Enjoyed our first brunch here on Sunday. The bubble and squeak topped with a fried egg and crispy bacon was out of this world. Lovely service and atmosphere. Can't wait to return!
We were looking for a restaurant in Worthing where we could book and enjoy a relaxed dining experience. The Dining Room came up on our search and we decided that the June 2021 tasting menu looked fabulous and one we could enjoy.
The food was excellent (photos show the courses) and the hosts superb.
We enjoyed the complementing matched wines and we thought overall the food and wine was great value.
We would recommend The Dining Room without hesitation and when are next back in Worthing, this will be the place we revisit. The hosts were full of ideas and we would be really thrilled to dine on a themed night they plan.
The Dining Room hosted our 'after ceremony' meal in June 2022 and did a fantastic job. The venue is perfect for an intimate meal with close family, bridesmaids and best men - just what we wanted. We dropped some of our themed decorations off the day before which were all laid out for us when we arrived. The food was delicious and so unique for our special day - they accommodated for all different tastes. They offered a wide selection of drinks and you can also bring your own drinks for a corkage fee which we utilised for the toast. The location was very convenient for us due to our ceremony taking place a few minutes drive away. Our guests loved the surprise of the 'signing chef' after the speeches - a great mix of songs! They even went the extra mile and recorded a video of the 'singing chef' for us to add to our wedding video as we had missed filming it due to enjoying ourselves too much! Very reasonable pricing for a special meal. We hope to come back to celebrate our anniversary here time and time again.
Really amazing cosy fine dining restaurant and really good value. About a third of the price of any in London and so far much tastier, still beautiful and with a far more reasonable portion size. So good I was back within 48hrs of dinner to try the lunch menu.
Went to the five course Test Kitchen and it was fabulous. An experimental menu is served for you to critique. My favourite things, food and my opinion! Each course was delicious and there was a form to fill, so you can imagine, I was in seventh heaven. But I forgot to mention on the feedback that the ice cream was the best so I hope they read this. Also dog friendly, plus the chef has a beautiful voice and sings at the end of the evening. He even serenaded the dog. 10/10, A+. Service impeccable, well stocked bar, nice facilities, well spaced tables, clean and organised. I'm going again. They do all sorts of evenings, such as pie night, quiz night, also a wine flight; I don't know what that is but I'm going, it's wine, after all, how bad can it be? Service was on proper plates, not a slate, chopping board or saucepan lid in sight, thank goodness. No pretensions here just great food.
Friendly and welcoming service. Food was delicious and nice wine paring. Will definitely go back.
This is a bit of a late review as we went in May but really wanted to leave a comment. We had a great time and despite a mix up with the booking, the owner was so accommodating. We had the 7 course tasting menu with wine flight, which was beautifully presented. The food was amazing the chef changed my wifes fish course to aubergine, she loved it. Couple of the wines weren't what we would personally choose, but it offered a selection of white, red, rose and sparkling. It was a relaxed evening with superb service. We would highly recommend this dining experience.
We went back to the dining room on Saturday evening . We had their June tasting menu which was excellent . My favourite dish was the scallop with sweet corn starter. Jean is a very innovative cook and consistently produces great food.
I had the wine flight which was excellent value . The wine list is full of carefully chosen wines at a good price.
As usual the evening was completed with the “Singing Chef” singing while he prepares the bills. The acoustics in the restaurant are amazing!
For a good night out in Worthing you cannot beat it.
The whole evening was in accordance with the current COVID-19 regulations and totally safe.
We had a 7 course tasting menu here after looking for somewhere nice to eat in Worthing. The Dining room was nicely decorated, and the food with paired wine was fantastic. I did not eat red meat and so the chef even substituted this for vegetarian options with no fuss at all.
The owners are delightful, and did all they could to ensure we had a good evening. Would definitely dine here again!
If I could put more stars I would!! What a secret hidden gem. The dining rooms is so special - the food, the atmosphere, but the team are so wonderful - Jon, Ro, Oli, and Joseph were there when we had our wedding breakfast and wow! Our guests loved the sausage rolls (!), but nothing was too much trouble for anyone and there were so many thoughtful touches. Thank you isn’t enough for the lengths that were gone too. We can’t wait to come back for more singing !! Xxxx
The food was sublime - the dishes were well prepared and the produce was carefully picked and local. Decently priced for a tasting menu. No faults and would highly recommend.
