It has been some time since I last visited the Royal Oak, but was not disappointed. Participating in a " small plate carvery/ dessert, I was still able to have more than enough had I of put it on my plate. The meat was beautiful...Turkey/ Beef. ...beef was so tender. Whippy ice cream was really nice and creamy...loved it. My only criticism was I felt the tables within the area where we were seated, were a bit too close together. All in all though good food, polite and friendly service.

The most beautiful carvery! A little more expensive than some maybe but you get what you pay for! (Drinks are very pricey though - over £7 for a small O.J and a Pepsi) 3 choices of meat (turkey, pork and beef) Personally I would love to see gammon as an alternative to one of the others but that's just personal opinion.. you can have some of any or all.. we went for pork & beef and both were cooked beautifully and you get plenty of it too! There's also crackling on offer should you want it. The Yorkshire puddings I have to say aren't the best, we've been several times now at all different times but they aren't the best sadly but what they lack in is made up for in other areas! Onto the veg... wow! What a choice! No less than 14 different veggies to choose from, all super fresh and vibrant in colour and taste absolutely amazing and this comes from a veggiephobe 🤣 I Usually wouldn't touch the likes of red cabbage, swede or carrots but I gave them a go and they really are so good, they're also continually checking and refilling and veg that is running low! There's also things such as roast onions and parsnips and creamy garlic potatoes to choose from aswell as peas, cabbage and broccoli amongst others and the gravy is really good too! Sadly we've not yet sampled the desserts as we've always been absolutely stuffed by that point but have had a good nose at them in the cabinet and they look really good! Will be getting a takeaway of some in the near future I think 😊 They also sell Bennetts ice cream in a variety of flavours! Great to see a business supporting another local business too 👏 There is also a normal menu available which has some vegetarian and vegan options on for anyone not fancying a carvery. Plenty of parking available, disabled spaces and disabled access also and a lovely children's play area outside aswell. Lovely friendly staff. Updated since 24 June 2023 Very cozy, and warm carvery establishment set in a stunning landscape. Hospitality: 4.5/5 service was really good. Time slightly started to get annoying on waiting time. Food: 5/5 past- I had fish'n chips and it was very delightful. Chunky chips were unique as usual. 🍟 Today I had the classic orriginal style burger from the oak. Although it's not my preference; the flavor, and appearance would be perfect for somone who likes their burgers more real. My relatives had the signature meal; (carvery); and they all loved it! (Not my words); apparently the rosties a onions were really nice! 😅 For my desert, I had the cheesecake of the day; (Cherrys). Past -relatives had salted caramel cookie dough tart and was divine. 🥮 The deserts menu STILL didn't have much to suit people with food intolerance. Building: 5/5 The inner interrior and outer exterior were quite modern with styles that throw back to the old time. The toilets were also very clean with a touch of class. 🚻 Apologies for my misunderstanding on practises involving carvery; (if anyone saw what was here).

Best carvery around. We aren’t exactly local but often make the trip because of how good it is. Great selection and reasonably priced considering the quality

Great carvery, not like certain 'chains' where vegetables are like 1960's school dinners! Good selection of veg' all fresh and hot. Good portion of meats. Great pleasant quick service. Lower atmosphere rating due to the fact that we were the first customers of the day!

Celebrated my mum’s 80th birthday at The Royal Oak today, was perfect. The table was decorated, the service was fantastic and the food was amazing. Thank you Matt and all staff for making it special xx

Woke up today starving and decided to go here. Had our wedding reception here 16 years ago. Very busy when we arrived. But the restaurant manager managed to seat the two us for the carvery. The food was amazing! Hot and tasty. Served on piping hot plates. Probably the best carvery I have ever had. Would definitely give this place a go. You will not be disappointed. Great food and great service.
