We booked the last available room as it was a busy weekend in Worcester. We requested an early check in which wasn't a problem to management. The room was an absolute delight. Furnshing were in keeping with the period property and the bathroom was a stunning new design. The whole property has been restored to a high standard. We had a light lunch which was scrumptious, being a hot pork pie and a cheese platter with a choice of excellent cheeses. We had a lovely nights sleep and awoke to a breakfast hamper which contained fresh fruit, granola, and croissants with jams. Our overall stay was 100%. As we visit Worcester on a regular basis we can't wait to try out some of the other rooms...well done The Cardinals Hat.
Just went in for the real ale but saw the menu and thought we would have a snack. What a surprise we had when we saw how much food there was! The cheese platter was superb and my husband was delighted to find such a wide range of vegetarian cheeses to choose from. Also on the platter were pickles, walnuts, blueberries, honey and plenty of fresh crusty bread. I chose kippers on toast and thoroughly enjoyed it - once again lots of lovely thick crusty bread, toasted, and a kipper to top it off - sumptuous. The ale was as good as anticipated, the staff were friendly and the little snug was very comfortable. We shall be back!
Had the sharing meat platter and soup of the day. Both a delight and good value, and an overload of crusty bread!! Nice selection of beers too all topped off with a beautiful, smiling barmaid.
Excellent medieval pub in middle earth near the village of Bree and may be frequented by hobbits. Excellent, well sourced local food but simple and limited menu. Excellent ales. You wilk step back into another world of magic and delights.
Stayed last night and can't fault. Beautifully decorated and comfortable rooms, easy check in, friendly staff. Lovely breakfast hamper left outside our room for us this morning. Would definitely recommend.
Love this place! Such a nice atmosphere! It’s like travelling back in time! Highly recommend it!
A truly unique and charming establishment set amidst other historical premises in the "old" part of Worcester. Quirky rooms and a congenial atmosphere a place that retains much of its old world charm including oak beams and blazing log fires in the winter months together with a fine array of real ales coupled with other traditional and popular brands make this pub stand out from other venues nearby. We popped in for a quick drink before visiting the nearby cinema and were made to feel very welcome by the staff and customers alike, in my opinion this is one of the best pubs in Worcestershire.
Best and oldest pub in Worcester. Excellent range of beers, spirits and platters. Marik and his team make you very welcome. Friendly pub all round. Visiting Worcester then give it a try. Just a few minutes down from the beautiful Cathedral in Friar Street.
Excellent place to stay. Central to all amenities. Fabulous food and friendly staff. Rooms are extremely cosy. Third time we have stayed we will be back

Worcester's oldest ale house, always chilled, gr8 people and a good vibe in the beer garden.
Welcomed here as if we were old friends. Room was fantastic and the continental breakfast served in the picnic basket was more than we were expecting. Well worth a visit. Will be back again for sure and recommending to all our friends.
