The pies are too die for. We reserved a table for 11 but all the pre-reserved pies came to the table in quick succession. Great service and great food and gluten free options too. Everybody very happy and 11 cleared plates says it all.

This was the first time of visiting as we had a Groupon deal. The bar staff were very friendly and helpful. We were served our meal in good time and it was delicious. I had the ham hock, chicken and leek pie with plain mash and minted mushy peas. My husband had the troll pie with cheesy mash and garden peas. We both said it was the best meal we had had in a while.

A wonderfully traditional pub with 17th century wood panelling and a wonky floor upstairs. This friendly pub has a good range of beers many of which are local. They also serve tasty pies.

Wonderful old wood paneling and steeped in history! If you like real ale, (and I counted at least six) and relaxed, comfortable surroundings, then don't let this place pass you by! They have speciality pies on offer also. Highly recommended!

Only stopped by for a couple of drinks but would definitely visit again & would like to try the food. Beer was lovely & the pub itself was beautiful with a log burner on the go x

Talk about history! Building dates from 1577 and it's the place in 1651 where King Charles II escaped from Cromwell's armies after the Battle of Worcester. Now it's this beautiful, archetypal historical British pub - open fires, low ceilings, heavy woods, real ale on tap.Menu is also typically British in content but not in presentation - a fabulous deconstructed Ploughman's Lunch on board arrived at my table along with a half of ale. Perfect lunch!

Beautiful food, very large portions so no need to bother with starter really. Very friendly and helpful. Decor bit stuffy and old fashioned, part of the charm I suppose.

Popped in as part of the Worcester ale tour. Very friendly bar staff, very accommodating. Lots of ales to choose from. And obviously the amazing historic decor and furnishings. We decided to treat ourselves with some scotch eggs. And what a treat they were. Cooked to perfection. A classy little old fashioned pub.

Came here with my family and 2 dogs for a meal we had a lovely welcome the lady behind the bar offered our dogs some water and treats. We all ordered food I had the pie cheese mash and peas it was the best pie I've ever had. The food was so filling that we couldn't even fit in desert. Highly recommended. Would definitely return.

First visit, very welcoming - would have opened upstairs for us but a table for 4 just came free. Excellent service, wide choice, large portions (can ask for half size, although not on the menu). Really good food too. 3 of us had chicken salad, 1 had chicken and mushroom pie, mash with cheese, greens and gravy.

The stunning facade of this historic building with it distinctive basket display made it virtually impossible to walk past, and once inside the whole experience was just as impressive. Breathtaking architecture, complimented by tasteful period artefacts, inviting log fires, sympathetic lighting and twickling candle light made me feel like I had stepped back in time. There was a warm welcome by the attentive staff and knowledgeable help selecting from the fantastic range of well kept ales. The food was great too, including an imaginative selection of pies and flavoured mash complimented steaks and delicious sounding salads. We went on a Sunday and the Sunday Roast was as good as I have ever had. Expertly cooked, beautifully presented and piping hot. The side dishes on offer are very tempting too. The owner was very friendly and obviously has a keen eye for detail, because the whole experience was superb. Not just recommended, but worth going out of your way to find.
