Coming from the curry capital of the world (Yorkshire) we have been to many Indian restaurants around the world. Without a doubt, there is none better than the ferry Indians. Stumbled across this amazing restaurant 5 years ago and would never go anywhere else. Highly recommended to everyone.
How close to heaven can one get? Best, best best tastes. My favourite Indian in Christchurch.

One of the best Indian restaurants in Christchurch especially for the price! Yum
My favourite restaurant in Christchurch! Portion sizes are generous, flavours are simply amazing and the service is always excellent, they always make you feel so very welcome. Great value too. I just need to remember to book now on a Friday & Saturday night to ensure a seat! Otherwise takeout is another option. If you haven't dined here yet - you're missing out!
Me and my wife first went in there for dinner during new year and were surprised by their quality of food and ambienace. Food was very fresh and tasty just like Curries you get in india. In whole of chch I have been to many Indian restaurants but would say this is the best of all atleast in chch region. If you are vegan their must try is Sahi paneer, kadhi paneer and their samosa but the list is endless.it's not so expensive like other Indian places in the city central. We have been there many a times after that day.
Went there after buying a grab one voucher never even noticed it before ...Best Indian in christchurch we thought! Service was excellent even the chief come out and seen us..Will definitely be going back....
everything perfect palak paneer is awesome . i will miss this place very much thanks all my restaurant family members you all help me a lot and also i learn lot of things from you .
It's hard to find a decent Indian food restaurant outside of Wolverhampton but this one gets close! Pretty much the standard formula of "Indian cuisine", this one is tasty and reliable. Definitely worth frequenting if you are on the south side of ChCh.
Just come back from our first visit to Ferry Indians. Food was fantastic, Staff are most pleasant and atmosphere is great. Do not miss a visit to this place.
My friend and I dined in here and we couldn't have been more delighted with our meal. We were the only ones dining. The restaurant is clean and tidy. The service was brilliant. We were so pleased with our meals I asked to meet the chef! I told him how wonderful the meal was and he was very grateful. Last night we ordered takeaways and they were equally superb. My family loves Indian meals and they were very happy! Thanks ferry Indians for your attention to detail and amazing food. I highly recommend this venue and I have been spreading the word!
Howdy been to Ferry Indians on at least a 1/2 dozen times in the last 3 months each time the service & food has been first class - I totally recommend the Chicken Malai Kebabs as a starter and dont be fooled that they aren't on a kebab stick !enjoy the food !
Finally a good takeaway place in Woolston! The resturant is clean and the staff are pleasant. The menu is quite large with a decent selection for non flesh eaters. Some indian iv tried tastes like the spices have been chucked in all at once but this indian tastes authentic
At last a quality Indian restaurant this side of town that seems to be able to pack great flavour into their curries without overuse of salt or ghee. We've had 2 takeaways from there now and sampled 8 dishes. All of them have had a great balance of flavour and heat without being too rich, a nice mixture of long slow cooked spice blends as well as the fresh zing of some last minute ingredients like fresh ginger and coriander. The non veg starter for 2 was especially good with quality chunks of meats well marinaded and cooked, the dhal was also one of the best I've tasted in Christchurch. Keep up the good work guys and please don't fall into the trap of scrimping on the meat like so many other Indian restaurants do, otherwise we'll be forced back to TandPalace as they still seem to pack the meat into their portions!
Went here for impromptu dinner with my wife and what a master stroke that was. Fantastic food, friendly service, reasonable prices and great serving sizes. What more can I say. Dont let the location fool you. Its great indian cuisine. We had the ferry platter for 2 for our entree and butter chicken and lamb korma for our mains with garlic naans. All were very tasty, korma and entree were favourite though. Highly recommend it. They do alot of takeaway business too but eating in is great too.
Welcome to Ferry Indian's - a warm welcome. We were the only guests. A lovely new restaurant in the heart of Woolston. Lilac and lavender interior. Plush seating. It felt very Royal. It was very clean. Impressed.
Extensive menu - neatly presented in a binder. They also do takeaways.
We had a lunch time special with Naan bread one garlic and one stuffed. One butter chicken - mild and one chicken Korma. Beautifully served. Also poppadoms (6) cumin flavoured. Delicate flavour. Washed down with a creamy Mango Lassi - which was very velvety. :-)
The meals were delicious and the spice level reflected what we asked for. Everything was served on white plates. Curry dishes had silver threads through the plates..
The service was warm and friendly and for something novel - staff were actually smiling. (most places - smiles must cost more) My dining companion could not eat all her meal.
Both left very satisfied at our impromptu decision to eat here for lunch. It was a nice surprise.
Well done. :-) $33.00.
I will be back.
It's a new indian eatery opened recently in woolston and the food is top notch.I had a takeaway for butter chicken and chicken tikka masala and it tasted yum.Have tried few indian joints and this one seems to taste better.
This Indian is really the best in the world.. The food has such amazing flavour.. The service is so amazing.. They go above and beyond.. Highly recommend
Best place for dinner/lunch. I have been a regular customer at this restaurant for few years, food and the customer services has never changed. I always have recommended this restaurant to everyone and will continue doing it. Keep up the best work Indian Ferry team.
I've been to Ferry Indians several times before, but it was the attention and versatility of the chef that prompted me to write this review. The food is always excellent, and the staff are welcoming. We had friends visiting and one had a fairly restrictive dietary requirement. The staff took it in their stride, and were honest about what they could and couldn't do. In the end, our friend had Indian food for the first time in years, and appeared to thoroughly enjoy it.

We live really close and my partner always goes alone and he said food is amazing. I don't eat indian food, too spicy/many condiments for me but I went with him with the idea of not having food. The waitress kindly recomed me the chicken tikka. I have to say it was just perfect!!!!!
The service and food are truly good! I recommend to give it a go even if u re not fan of indian food or picky af like me 🤣
By far, the best Indian food I have had in a long time.
The service is excellent, and our waiter gave us some suggestions as he really knew his menu well.
You need to try the onion bajis, they have so much flavour.
I’ll be coming back soon
Best Indian restaurant in Christchurch. Best taste always.
Best place to have dine in or takeaway.
Higly recommended
Delicious food, enthusiastic staff. Cheap price, the best place for Indian food in Christchurch.
Food is delicious!!! No problem to make vegan. Feel very looked after. Perfectly comfy dining solo also!
Was a delicious meal, enjoyed the quality of service and food, especially that soyachap sizzler plater was amazing.
Shame tho it wasn't much busy. Restaurants like these do need to be appraised.
Plan your next gathering there, you surely won't be disappointed.
Cheers
Fabulous and delicious food, so friendly staff, Feel like home, must recommend to everyone.
The meal was amazing
Excellent service the best in Christchurch by far we had tandoori lamb so yummy 7 of us all agreed it tasted so good,
The chocolate man bread is so good 2
10 of 10 to the chefs
Had Chicken Tikka Masala (medium spice). Tasted incredible. Couldn't have asked for anything better.
Always great indian food, probably the best in Christchurch!
Normally, I get delivery or takeaway but have also had great friendly service when dining in.
We order from Ferry Indians two or three times a year, almost always delivery, and have never been let down by their service. The food is fantastic, always fresh and flavourful -- they are our #1 pick for Indian food. We often get the boss himself doing delivery, which is a great personal touch! We're small business owners ourselves so fully understand the need for many roles to be filled during economic times like this!
Cosy atmosphere, comfy chairs, clean cutlery and dining accessories, great food, good friendly service.
