We visited Scrimshaws for the first time on Valentines Night. Well it was one of the best evenings we've had out in a long time. Absolutely delicious food...great service from friendly staff...very relaxed atmosphere...tables were decorated lovely for valentines, red rose for the ladies too. Lovely decor in the restaurant....clean toilets(always the best sign)....There was a singer(Frank Ryan) for the evening...sang classic love songs gently in the back ground, great with the diners...and built up to a great end where everyone cheered for more....Just a superb evening all round....Gotta say though the Food was amazing....cant wait to try the recommended Sundy Roast....Thank you Very Much Everyone....Mr & Mrs Wood(im the one that smashed the salt pot!)sorry xx
Really enjoyed our visit to this pub , nice decor and friendly staff. The food was great and plenty of it ! The kids were happy with their food too ( usually get a least one moan from them about lunch!) and were kept amused with the bouncy castle so we could relax.. Will definitely be returning, a great family pub!
2nd year running we had our grand daughters birthday here. Great food and sea food (jellied eels were lovely), kids all loved the bouncy castles. Would highly recommend.
It was also England v Sweden too with screens everywhere nothing was missed especially the 2 goals . What a great day, great food, great atmosphere look forward to her next birthday.
We will be in before that to check out the menu. Thank you again x.
Had liver and bacon which I never order it was amazing. The food is always good. The staff are very helpful and polite. Can't wait to take my family. 5*
I was very very impressed with the quality of the food here.
Came to dine for a friend’s birthday, and as much as the overall look of the pub is a very standard pub look, the food in the restaurant area was exceptional!
I had the creamy garlic mushrooms, and the steak. It was very good.
The prices are reasonable and the waitress was friendly and helpful.
We go every Wednesday evening & eat before taking part in the Wednesday Quiz. They really look after us.
Food is out of this world, friendly atmosphere and staff are very accommodating. Highly recommended
Booked a table for 4 last night, arrived and was greeted by the owner who had explained that he had tried contacting me a couple of times which I hadn't noticed. This was due to the kitchen having to to close early.
We decided to stay for a drink, was shown to a table and to our surprise the lovely owners decide to cook our meals themselves. What a wonderful gesture and wasn't disappointed. We were made very welcome by all the staff and the food was great.
Thank you again, we will certainly be back again.
Lovely pub, particularly in the summer. Good beer garden. Great for the children.
Great cod & chips !!!
Father & Girl Friend had lamb on the bone from specials board.
Lovely food in a nice setting . Not to busy because of weather being hot . Friendly helpful staff 10 out of 10 .
We went for a family dinner so quite a few of us. It was a Sunday so we had slightly different choices on the menu. It was busy as the weather was gorgeous. Good outdoor space for a drink and quite a few play things for children
Inside the restaurant is nice, we waited a little while but it was busy, the food was really good, the Sunday dinner came with lots of extra veggies and was really tasty. Nice choice for the children too, we all had a great afternoon here
Sadly had occasion to visit the priemises after a lengthy time away (C-19) to a former colleague's funeral wake. The staff were very attentive, respectful and pleasant. The service was efficient and made the sombre occasion more agreeable. The food & drink was appropriately priced and staff took extra care to attend to any perceived shortages. I look forward to re-visiting the restaurant post pandemic. S.G.
Eaten here a number of times. Absolutely one of our top places to eat locally. Service is excellent, food is superb. Just be warned that the food is actually COOKED and not just reheated like some large pub companies, so food may take a little longer, but it's so worth it. Fantastic place, long may it continue.
Good meal (fish & chips) and good service. Sat outside for our pre-meal drink, and had a nice walk down the neighbouring lane afterwards. Very nice afternoon out.
We were recommended to try Scrimshaws Restaurant, so decided to have a lunchtime date with my wife.
Upon arrival, we were greeted by very friendly bar staff who seated us inside Scrimshaws.
They have a very nice menu, where we ordered the duck and smoked salmon starters. Followed by chicken and haddock main dishes.
The food was delicious, and the portions very generous. I was pleasantly surprised at my battered haddock (special of the day) which was larger than my plate.
The food was cooked to a very good standard, presented and served by a very nice lady.
I would definitely be returning to Scrimshaws, and is refreshing to know of this independent pub / restaurant that serves great quality food at reasonable prices.
Compliments to the chef!!!!
Went for lunch, small playe meal of fish, chips and peas. Well cooked and plenty for a lunch or someone older who is not so active. Lovely staff and ambient atmosphere.
Elvis would have been impressed - the food was great and so was the entertainment. Anither Elvis night please.
First time going here with my wife and son we had the Sunday roast which was fantastic, serving was huge!! Excellent value for money very friendly staff nothing was too much trouble and would definitely go again.
