When you walk into a timbered interior with a comfy warm atmosphere and a fire in the inglenook giving off a lovely smell of burning logs you know you have made a great choice of venue for your Sunday lunch. There is a terrific menu but we both had the Roast Beef and it was a good choice. three good slices of tasty beef, 5 roast potatoes, a roast parsnip, carrots, peas, beans and swede surrounded with plenty of gravy. Delicious. My pal didn't have enough room for desert but I managed to squeeze in a cherry crumble and custard. Yummy. Having seen the menu we'll have to come back to try more of their lovely home cooked food. Nice big car park, great welcome and really great service. It was very busy so a reservation is recommended.

The older among us will remember going into an old village pub 40/50 years ago. There was good beer, nice people, great surroundings and an atmosphere dicately tinged with woodsmoke. If you remember that, go to the Horseshoes and you'll instantly be back in that pub from all those years ago. In these modern times when the emphasis is on corporate ownership, big profits and dividends for the shareholders this is a welcome break from all that. 6 of us had an excellent, great value meal and at the end I really didn't want to leave. I could quite happily enjoy that journey back in time over and over. We'll be back soon.

Beautiful pub that could be straight out of a medieval fantasy. Welcoming and jovial locals from the moment you walk in. Great selection of drinks and the food is a good standard. Well worth the visit!

Really nice traditional oak beamed Suffolk village pub. I wisely pre booked for the Sunday roast beef lunch. Although extremely busy, food came very prompt. Great service & value for money.

A friendly pub and a beautiful old building. A good range of beers, including a very nice pint called "Horseshoes" brewed locally, specifically for this pub. We had a great meal here as well, choosing from a wide menu with a good number of vegetarian options. COVID secure with thoughtful and friendly staff. Seating available outside and easy parking. This pub is on the road between Bury and Lavenham, popular with locals and well worth a visit.

An excellent traditional country pub. Sadly these pubs are a dying breed. I’m originally from the West Country and this style of pub still prevails down there, but Suffolk seems to have lost most of them. I absolutely love the Horseshoes - the beer was good and well kept, the food was decent and reasonably priced and the staff were friendly and on the ball. It felt like home!

Lovely pub with warm atmosphere. Friendly, efficient staff and a large range of food options on the menu. Unless there was a separate entrance though I’m not sure it was wheelchair friendly as there were a few steps going in the front door. Parking good, large, well maintained car park. Would definitely recommend.

Food was excellent. The place was very busy but didn't have towait too long for food to arrive. Always a good sign that the place was run well.

Food was good; it has to be said. VFM? Perhaps bring honest, the top end on cost for what was served. Friendly service and quick! Limited atmosphere as only a few other cudtomers present in the building at the time of our visit.

We have visited The Horseshoes for over 15 years and have been recommending guests at The Windmill Suffolk since we opened 6 years ago as it's just over 10 minutes walk away. Homely, traditional fare in a lovely historic pub. Great portions and very good value. Perfect year round with a garden with plenty of seating for the warmer months and cosy corners for the wintertime. Highly recommended.
