We visited yesterday and it was first pub that welcomed the four of us and our dog for lunch without prebooking. We had veggie tapas dishes which were all lovely. There was a lovely fire and treats for the dog.
Best pub in Woodbridge. Always fantastic music and staff
Excellent Friendly Pub with a good selection of real ale !!! Tapas menu is also excellent !!!
The Old Mariner sums up what a great pub is all about to me
Low ceilings
Hops
Proper Suffolk welcome
Great beer
Tasty snacks
Centre of town
Comfort
It lost its way for a few years but it's % on track now (new lighting and better seating has improved the interior by a million miles) and it is back up there on top
My first time today in this venue. I think it is in a lovely place with really nice friendly, and polite staff. I thoroughly enjoyed my Cokes and Full English breakfasts to celebrate St Georges day. Many thanks for putting it on. Would not hesitate to spend an evening having a few drinks here. (y)
Great evening catching up with a friend, over some excellent Tapas and a few drinks. Lovely atmosphere, great service. Loved the meatballs 😀
Great pub, great hosts and fab atmosphere
Having just moved to Woodbridge, The Old Mariner is close to being our local! We had a great Sunday roast complimented by some excellent music. Fantastic for a chilled Sunday, thank you ! Highly recommended.
Thank you Gemma, another great night
Excellent London Pride always on tap. 😀
Great atmosphere. Great team and very good beer. Awesome DJ nights
Great Beer, Great Staff, Great Music and Great Scotch Eggs!
There is NO food in this pub and it is for 25+ only. That's not a problem (I'm well over 25!) and the front bar area has a great atmosphere. The rear two rooms are not so characterful but quite a few tables. There is a large outside area at the rear down a short lane with some limited off-road parking. There are quite a lot of real and guest beers and ales.
During a long holiday stay in Woodbridge, I thoroughly enjoyed the Old Mariner. What a great neighborhood pub. It was friendly, always had a good crowd in and out. Lovely garden and such great staff. great place for darts and to have a pint and conversation any time. I miss it and can't wait to back. Cheers mates!
The Old Mariner is now a 25 plus drinking pub which does not serve food and has a large external seating area for the summer. Good selection of guest ales and beers and pleasant old world but airy feel. It can be accessed from New Street but also from Castle Street where some free parking is available after 6om. The rear access is uneven and unlit so
carry a torch is going in and out via the rear entrance.
Mark and Gemma make this a lovely pub for a nice pint.
It's a 25 yrs and over pub. Well behaved Dogs are welcome
Thoroughly recommend the place.
It's a 'wet-house' so no food but for great beer and good company...it's hard to beat.

Love this rustic pub. Great atmosphere and energy. Amazing and friendly service. Incredible beer garden, parking in the back and top notch dart board. (Bring your own darts!)
They don't do food. We sat in their lovely big garden out the back. We enjoyed the atmosphere being created outside in the garden. Will be back to enjoy!
Best pub in town! I'm a local and I think this is the best pub in town. Some might complain that they don't serve food, but I prefer that, if you want a very good pint of beer (from a very good selection) and no screaming children, just adults enjoying a drink then this is the place for you. There's plenty of seating and an amazing beer garden which has sun all day. Lovely bar staff, very friendly and helpful. The beer is always fresh unlike the other pubs in town when they let it sit in the pipes for too long. I would recommend this place every time to anyone!
Great pub. Good atmosphere. Apparently the beer is good too.. So is the cider.
A lovely and friendly pub with staff that made me feel at ease when ordering a drink. I will be back this Friday!
This pub is great for atmosphere and have a great range of beers and gins.

Decent pub good atmosphere
Fairly quiet for a Friday night but lovely staff.
First visit to the pub today. Made to feel so welcome, lovely cosy atmosphere, will definitely be back.
High time I posted a review as this is my local. If you love cask (real) ale then you'll find the best kept (and served) beer not only in Woodbridge but for miles around. Hand on heart the best pint of London Pride I have had, other than at the brewery itself. More than a few times has the landlord placed a pint in front of me only to withdraw it moments later because it didn't look perfect. Cue barrel change. Attention to detail that runs throughout the establishment (Cask Marque awarded every year). As you can tell I'm pretty obsessed with real ale (being a CAMRA member, although under 50 and no sandals). Obsession and cleanliness extends beyond the cellar and their Covid protocols are superb, I feel so comfortable inside or out. Cosy interior (especially in winter with the fire) and a lovely garden with views of centuries-old rooftops and the church. No food (pub snacks of course), no under 25's at weekends (except children with an adult) and dogs positively welcomed. London Pride and Ghost Ship always on with 2 guest ales (in normal times...). Craft beers and lagers also enjoyed by many (schooners available - 2/3s pint!). Having said all that, it isn't one of those places where everyone turns their head when you enter, or dare to order anything other than beer! Such friendly and welcoming staff and regulars. A few steps from the Thoroughfare or Market Hill - see you there?
Excellent experience on our first visit this establishment and indeed Woodbridge too. We enjoyed the ale and the customer service, this place has a lovely atmosphere, the landlady was friendly and inviting, we will definatly return on our next visit to the area. We spent the Saturday evening of the folk and Maritime festival in the Old Mariner, and enjoyed a few hours hosting a singaround, a huge thank you to the landlady and staff. We did pop back in for a quick drink on the Sunday evening and the young lady behind the bar gave us the same warm welcome that we had received by the staff the previous evening.
Nice pub, lovely building and gets fairly busy at the weekends. Has a decent garden out back too.
Friendly, proper pub that does good beer (and other drinks) and good food. A bit quieter than some of the other pubs in town - but this is a good thing!!
