A quaint and family friendly traditional English pub. What sets it apart though is that the food here is genuinely excellent. The menu is what you would expect from a pub restaurant, but the quality of produce, cooking and prevention is really good.
The staff are really friendly and helpful with dietary needs and requests.
It is quite popular so I recommend booking in advance.
We will definitely be going back - four stars.
Food was really tasty, as in really really tasty, and really good quality. I think the Camembert could’ve done with some more bread, rather than 3 slices. The loaded fries weren’t that great in my opinion, good portion but didn’t do it for me sadly.
The drinks selection was good, if you ask you can try a taste of the beers on offer before trying it, drinks took a bit of time to get to us however.
Staff were friendly, my only issue was the drinks time, not being asked if we’d like another drink, and the loaded fries seemed to have been forgotten initially as they came towards the end of our mains.
I would highly recommend dining here, overall I think it is a really good venue, lots of good seating inside and a big car park. Personally I would recommend the scotch egg to start and the beef brisket as a main, the scotch egg was delicious and perfectly cooked, the beef was so soft it could be pushed apart.
Overall the food is amazing quality wise, and the drink selection is very good.
Lovely food, I had the Hake and Mussel special and my friend had the Scampi. Both thoroughly enjoyed it. They were able to adapt mine to Gluten and Dairy free and had a good understanding of allergies. Great prosecco too!
Very tasty and wide variety of food options. The food drinks took a while to arrive despite not being at peak time however. The waitress/waiter were very helpful and polite. Great hospitality. However a couple extras were forgotten. Think the Camembert could have done with some more bread, and perhaps cooked a little less. The loaded fries were not the best tasting either but were only £4.50. We had the lemon and lime chicken, beef brisket, pork belly, pork Bon Bon and venison scotch eggs, all were incredible tasting.
Overall a very good place to eat, however just need a few tweaks to be even better.
Recommend booking a table.
Went in for an anniversary lunch. Was greeted by both friendly and welcoming staff when we arrived. Came in for 1pm, so wasn't too busy but a great atmosphere none the less. Trendy modernised pub but keeping all the natural 16th century beams. All beautifully kept and clean throughout.... There is parking but can see easily a struggle for space can arise. If passing a definite for a quiet lunch.
Popped in on the off chance and although very busy they managed to accommodate us as a couple.
The food is very well presented and is a delight on the taste buds.
Good selection of real ales and some traditional beers/lagers.
The proprietor is very welcoming and warm and friendly.
Very good value for what you are served.
Will be booking ahead next time we are in the area.
Wonderful experience 10/10
Celebrating a double birthday! Absolutely gorgeous. Love the atmosphere, attentiveness and the food is delicious. Approached little one by name and provided little extras for her 😍 Nothing was too much trouble.
Hard to choose what to eat-it was all so tempting!
We'll definitely be back.
Always fabulous food and great staff at the Queen. Lovely cosy atmosphere. Never want to leave at the end of the evening.
Had a great meal here after a long journey from Chesterfield to visit with family. Nothing was too much trouble food service and atmosphere great. Always top of the hit list for a visit when in the area
Fabulous village pub. Great food - one of the best ploughman’s I’ve ever had. The staff were absolutely lovely. We took our 14 month old and they were very welcoming and accommodating.
