Visited the Anchor Inn today for Sunday lunch, quality of the food was excellent, we were made very welcome by our server Stuart who is definitely an asset to the establishment. Would highly recommend people to try the Anchor.

My mum and I took her puppy on her first proper outing here for lunch and it was such a lovely experience. Food was great, just the right size for lunch. Service was great. And most importantly, very dog friendly! Asked for a small bowl of water for the pup and it came straight away. After our meal a lady brought out a mini doggy dinner for the pup aswell - not asked for but very much appreciated and valued (not sure if this is a regular thing). BUT we will definitely returning and recommending. Great experience! Thankyou :)

Lovley meal, enjoyed every bit of it. Hadn't been to the Anchor for a while as there has never been much choice on the menu, but much improved and will Defoe come again. Well done.

This place was good but now it's fantastic. It's has undergone a fabulous transformation. Great place to pop in for a drink to. Lovely bar area with real fire, real ale, fabulous wine list and friendly locals. Thank you to Helen and her team for a fabulous menu taster night. Can't wait to come back and enjoy the the fabulous menu one day. We love that dogs are welcome, so lovely to see people able to enjoy the pub and their animals. Helen welcomes our cat Sky too. She goes everywhere and loves The Anchor Inn :-) Can see this being our local from now on :-)

Visited with family last minute. Another review on here said the place was extremely busy, it wasn’t extremely busy there was some availability on seats but everyone was working hard to make sure service-as always-was at its best. No complaints about the food. Hunters chicken was lovely and a polished plate from a fussy eater. All meals were enjoyed. We were checked on to make sure food was ok within 5 minutes of being served. Service was excellent!! Mark made sure if drinks were low we didn’t require more. He was chatty and very welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble. Thanks!! Can’t wait to come back. Never a bad experience. Refurb is lovely too!!

Called in for a hot chocolate mid morning last week after a lovely but wet walk with a friends dog. The staff could not have been lovelier, and welcomed our well behaved dog who enjoyed a snooze by the 🔥. So pleased there are pubs around that welcome our four legged friends . Service and food were beautifully served and the new decor is beautiful. Well done The Anchor!

We called in with a couple of friends last night. Love the makeover . Smart but cosy. Didn’t intend eating but opted for a sharing platter and a couple of pizzas which were really nice . Staff friendly too. So much better than before. We’ll be back again

Fabulous place just off the main Stafford Road. Right on the canal so lovely place to sit outside on a sunny day and watch the barges going past. Real ales and good food here. Plenty of parking. Gets busy in summer with families.

This is a standard Vintage Inn pub with a warm welcoming atmosphere and is super dog friendly. Water bowls and snacks available in the dog friendly seating area which unlike other pubs isn't just the bar area, there is a small area of the restaurant that is also dog friendly. (Don't worry if you're not a dog's best friend, the main restaurant area is away from any visiting dogs). The service on my visit was slow and borderline poor, we'd booked a table and arrived slightly early but stood waiting at the bar to be seated for about 10 minutes before a member of staff acknowledged us... It was a fairly busy bank holiday Monday and I put it down to this as when we were seated the staff were very friendly and polite. In all, you can't go wrong with a Vintage inn, food is top quality and the atmosphere is nice 👍

Absolutely lovely pub. Fires crackling. Lots of well behaved puppos and delicious food. My puppy absolutely loved her first pub experience and had lots of fuss from the staff. Defo will recommend.

My first time visiting the Anchor, which is part of the same group that owns The Vine at Wombourne and The Mermaid in Wolverhampton. It goes without saying the menu is exactly the same as the other restaurants. The food here was good, and we weren't waiting long for our food at all. A table of 6 people and the food wait was 20 mins. Our table was outside overlooking the canal, which is nice on a sunny day. I feel the portion size is on the small size, hence a 4 star. I could of done with some carrots or something extra But that was my only gripe.

Lovely pub. Wish it was sunny as wanted to sit on the patio and watch the barges go up and down.

I usually have the chicken burger because it's delicious, but I decided to try the new mac and cheese. I'm glad I did! Delicious! With bacon on the top, garlic bread and chips, I really enjoyed it. The pub is always so cosy with the fires lit and staff always so friendly!

After a lovely hot, sunny morning with our grandchildren at the Shropshire Petal Fields festival, we were all ready for a drink and some lunch. The Anchor didn't disappoint. We ordered, gammon egg and chips and three of us had the steak sandwich which came with chips. We all enjoyed our mains and were tempted by the dessert menu. We ordered one mini crumble, one mini brownie and two of us had the honey pot dessert😋 We all enjoyed our meals, we were all looked after by Millie and the rest of the staff were very friendly. I'm sure it won't be too long before we're back again.🙂

Visited the pub on a Thursday evening for a couple of drinks, we was served by Jess who is very friendly and yet still professional. We didn't eat this time but would love to return for food soon as it looked and smelt amazing! We look forward to coming back!

Very pleasant pub especially sitting outside next to the canal. slightly more pricey than your standard pub but I feel it's worth it with the fantastic quality and range of the food & drinks options. staff are also very friendly and helpful.

Millie and Leah are amazing! Nothing is too much trouble, even to the the point I asked if she had a random candle to surprise hubby and she put it in a brownie for him! Divine food as always, excellent service. Love this place

Always the best service and atmosphere at this lovely and cosy vintage Inn. Mike was especially helpful in planning and booking an area for a future booking when I approached him very last minute- he ran through several options to accommodate us- can not be more grateful! Beth was our server on this occasion and she was very helpful, friendly and attentive- lovely pub, brilliant staff.

What a fabulous evening at this excellent inn. Six of us went for a meal and were served by Bethany who was exceptional. The food was hot and tasty . They even gave me raw carrot because I prefer them uncooked . The menu caters for all sorts of tastes and there is a good choice of ales and wines 🍷 A great night was had by all so thanks to Bethany and all the staff

Super friendly staff, great atmosphere, a simple English country pub done well with views of the river. Food was well cooked and had plenty of flavour for a reasonable price. Would definitely recommend to family and friends. Staff polite and friendly to ask if everything is ok without feeling intrusive. (23/08/23)

Food was amazing but the service was lacking, firstly the table we had booked had been given up to other people so we were seated on a table that wasn't laid out in what felt like a corridor with the amount of people walking past us throughout the meal. The service for drinks was slow and a couple if times it was easier for me to get up and go to the bar. Asking to pay the bill was a chore as I had a receipt brought over to me but told by the young nan that unfortunately he can't take parents so it took another 10 minutes to catch somebody so I could eventually pay.
