We held our annual works Christmas dinner at the Golden Lion on Christmas Eve. This was the first time our office has held a function ( for 8) here but would not hesitate to recommend the food and hospitality. Our meals were served without fault and was enjoyed by all, the bar staff were attentive, professional but not too " how was your meal". They remembered our drinks order with no confusion as you always usually get some hiccup and gave us the perfect level of privacy and service to make us agree we shall definitely book this venue next year. Maybe even try their buffet service for any future office occasions before then. Having read a previous review I felt it my place to point out that this forum is for reviews of service not the personal opinions of what appears to be an unprofessional business contractor. So many thanks to Amanda and her staff for making our Christmas work meal really enjoyable, I'm sure we will never forget how even the Director "let his hair down" something which we all thought impossible. Fantastic pub, ate there today. Food was lovely, recommend the nachos and tikka masala. Helpful staff, provided water and a bowl for my dog. I don't eat much and i made the rookie mistake of having a starter and being unable to eat much of my main but food was very nice! �

Great friendly staff. The food was so hot and tasty. The sausages in the mixed grill were fabulous.Will definitely come again.

Popped into the Golden Lion for breakfast , very warm welcome , excellent service with excellent food, we definitely will be back
Went in for sons birthday tea, 1st time we have eaten there, will definitely be going again

Come for the breakfast at the lion, very pleased being a vegetarian its hard to find an amazing breakfast like the one on offer here :)
Had a decent pint from here. Didn't try the food so can't really comment about that. The service was good from the bar staff and the place is generally kept quite clean. Would like to come back and try the food. Had the Marston's smooth and it was generally quite nice and went down easy.
I broke down near here a few weeks ago and the landlady very kindly let me change my little one in the loos before I'd even ordered anything - no questions asked. When I told her my situation, she welcomed me to stay and let the baby toddle around for as long as we needed. She even gave me my soft drink on the house. It really made our day. Thank you!
Staff were very friendly, drinks were great. Used the function room for an 18th party upstairs, well sized room clean and with a bar (which wasn't being used at the time) plaster was peeling a bit on the ceiling too but it didn't bother me. Toilets were available for us upstairs separate to the ones downstairs which were clean too. Overall quite chuffed
1st visit today, friendly staff, clean and tidy .

Golden Lion has a fab atmosphere and you are made to feel very welcome in here. The drink selection is great and there is fab viewing for all sports. Didn’t know they also had a function room too x
Had an amazing time at the breakfast with Santa! I took my niece and she loved it 🤩 staff lovely as always and great decorations. My niece got so much for the small price of £6 🥳 she had that much fun she didn’t want to leave 🤗 100% recommend this great pub 😌 stay tuned as they have great events from now onwards ❤️

Friendly atmos, nice vibe, traditional, local family pub design and feel. Nice pool corner and lovely benches and large green outside. The bar staff were really welcoming and helpful. The food was excellent. Great value, proper indian cuisine. We had the garam chickpea vegan option and massala chips, curry was v tasty, fresh, authentic, and the chips a great spicy side.
Seems to be split into two sections, one more for just drinking with the locals, watching the big screen, other half if you fancy a more quiet sit down with food. Would/will definitely go again.
Came in for a family meal and will definitely be returning. The staff were so friendly and helpful and served us quick at the bar. The food came out within 20 minutes and was great. They even brought my daughters out first to settle her ready for when ours came out. Atmosphere was great in the pub and they have lots of TVs around to keep you entertained. Will definitely be returning for a drink for the next event too!
Only a short visit, music a bit loud but ok, drinks a bit on the top price. Will call again

Lovely atmosphere today at bingo, great staff and only waited around 15 minutes for food. Range of spirits and beers, Strongbow with slush which was perfect for todays weather. Definitely be returning
Great old pub with good bears and a good selection of very tasty food . Will definitely be returning very soon .
